There are seven prayers in this
chapter. Seven prayers. And we'll deal with them as we
go through them, instead of me reading the whole chapter. Prayer
is the most blessed, blessed thing. It's a precious, glorious
privilege to commune with God, to talk to another world, And
I believe that we do talk to another world when we pray. I
believe God hears us. I believe God cares for us. I
believe He's interested in our lives. I really do. And most
people, the vast majority of people, take prayer too lightly.
They take it for granted. And they only ask for prayer
when they're in trouble. And then there's multitudes,
and multitudes are very, very presumptuous in their conception
of prayer. When they go to pray, they think
God ought to do exactly what they want to do and what He wants
them to do. And if He doesn't do that, then
they talk about their rights and their accomplishments before
God, and they expect God to answer them on the basis of what they've
done, their accomplishments, or their rights. And they pray
to change God's mind. There's people that pray to change
God's mind. Like God's mind could be changed.
Instead of praying, God, change me. Change me. Do something in me. Change me. And then there's others that
pray repetitiously. They just pray the same prayer
over and over and over, expecting to be heard for their much speaking.
That's what our Lord Jesus Christ said about the Jews. Jews do
that. Muslims do that. Catholics do
that. They'll say, well, you say so
many Hail Marys are our fathers. And you know, if you say this
many are our fathers, this many Hail Marys, then everything will
be all right. Everything will be all right.
And then some pray long and loud, just in case God's far off and
hard of hearing. But here in Matthew chapter 8,
we have seven prayers. These seven prayers are from
different people, for different reasons, and with different results. And let's look at them together.
But let me say something about what prayer is. Prayer is when
you have a want or a need. You have a want or a need, then
you ask for that want or a need. To call on someone for aid. You
have a desire and you make a request. And that's what prayer is. But
look at the first prayer. Look at the very first one here.
In verse 2. Our Lord Jesus Christ came down
from a mountain. He'd been up there praying. And
He came down from a mountain. And here's a prayer of submission.
And behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord,
if thou will, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth
his hand and touched him, saying, I will be thou clean. And immediately
his leprosy was cleansed. This is a prayer of submission
to the Lord's sovereignty. first thing out of this man's
mouth when he came to the Lord Jesus Christ he worshipped him
saying Lord he worshipped him whether the Lord ever made him
clean or not he was worshipping the Lord Jesus Christ he came
as a leper worshipping and the leper was unclean a leper was
uncurable And he had to dwell without the camp. And every time
he'd come around, he had to put his hand over his lip like this.
And everywhere he went, he had to cry out, unclean, unclean,
so people get out of his way. Horribly, horribly contagious
disease. Typical of sin. Nothing nobody
could do for him. Here's a man, a sinner, filthy,
without hope or help from man. That's what it was to be a leper.
And this is the way a sinner approaches God to be saved. At
first it says that there came a leper and worshipped him. Worshipped Him. And to worship
somebody means to adore Him. He adored the Lord Jesus Christ. He bowed to the Lord Jesus Christ. He honored the Lord Jesus Christ
by just worshipping Him. Whether He did anything for Him
or not. And then the next thing out of
His mouth when He worshipped Him, He said, Lord. He said,
Lord, You're the Lord. You're Jehovah. You're Master.
You're God. And look how he submitted to
the will of God, how he submitted to the sovereignty of the Lord
Jesus Christ. He said, if you will, I'm subject
to your will. I'm subject to the will of your
power and what you do. I have no rights to you. I have
no power. I have no abilities. I can't
cleanse myself. And if you will, I'll shut up
to your will. If you will, you're the Lord.
And I know that your will is done. You've got the power, you've
got the authority, you've got the ability. And if you will,
he says, you can make me clean. And what God hath cleansed, call
not thou common or unclean. You can make me clean. And what
he said is, nobody else can make me clean. Nobody else can make
me clean. No one else can make me white
as snow. No one else can make me acceptable
to God. The law shuts me out. The law
says I can't come. The law says I can't even dwell
among the Lord's people. But you can cleanse me. And if
you do, then the law itself will acquit me and pronounce me clean. Pronounce me holy. Pronounce
me acceptable even to the Lord. And oh, oh listen, he had a need. This is what I'm saying. He had
a need. And he asked for that need to
be met. And he called on the Lord and
the will of the Lord, whether it's because he's the only one
that can meet that need, whether he did or not, he was still,
he understood he was in the Lord's hands. And he called on the Lord
for what he needed, and look what our Lord Jesus said to him.
Jesus put forth his hand and touched him. Now if anybody else
touched a leper, they became unclean too. But our Lord Jesus
Christ could touch a leper. and heal the leprosy and be unaffected
by the leprosy. He can touch us as sinners and
be unaffected by our sin. And oh, listen, he says, he touched
him and said, I will. I will. That's all that matters. I will. I will. And then he says, be clean. Be
clean. And immediately his leprosy was
gone. Cleansed. Oh, what a prayer. Here's a man that submitted to
the Lord Jesus Christ's sovereignty. And then look here in verse five
and six. Here's a prayer of compassion. And when Jesus was entered into
Capernaum, down in verse five, there came unto him a centurion
beseeching him. and saying, Lord, my servant
lieth at home, sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. Here's
a prayer of compassion. This is a prayer that was so
unselfish, had nothing to do with himself, and what he was
praying for was just a servant, a slave, a servant in his house. But he had such compassion on
his own servant, A person that waited on Him, served Him, worked
in His house. But He has such compassion. Look
what He says, My servant lieth. He can't sit up. He lieth. He's so sick that he can't sit
up. He's so sick that he can't move. He's so sick. He's lying
there. And not only that, but My servant
is sick. Sick. He lieth at home sick. So sick that he's lying. He can't
move. He can't get up. And then he
says he's got the palsy. And then watch what he said.
He's grievously. He used this word grievously.
And it says he's grievously tormented. He was so sick that this man
was suffering grievously and was tormented by his sickness. So much pain. He went into such
detail concerning his servant. And so he cared for the misery
of somebody else. His heart went out to this man
that was sick. and all the difference between
compassion that God's people have and what the world has the
scripture said in Proverbs 12 10 the tender mercies of the
wicked are cruel but the righteous even considers his beast there
are those that they look on everything as it will affect them how it
affects them having no regard whatsoever for anybody else but
this man powerful man said my servant lies such compassion
he's sick grievously tormented and on he called on him for compassion
who is compassion personified the Lord Jesus Christ and that's
what he said he said Lord that's the first word out of his mouth
too Lord Lord and this centurion came himself. He didn't send
another servant. He came himself And oh my and look what our Lord
Jesus said in verse 7 Jesus saith unto him I will come and heal
him But now wait what what happens just watch what happens now not
always a prayer of compassion But here's a prayer of faith
look in verse 8 What a prayer of faith. The centurion answered,
said, Lord, I'm not worthy that thou shouldest come under my
roof, but you speak the word only, and my servant shall be
healed. For I am a man under authority,
having soldiers under me. And I say to this man, go, and
he goes. And I said to another, come here,
and he comes. And to my servant, do this, and
he gets up and does it. And oh, what a prayer of faith
here. Now he is a man, he has such great faith. He wasn't a
Jew. He was a Roman centurion. He
was living in Jerusalem. He has a Roman centurion. And oh, and you think of the
occasion of this man here and how great his faith was. His
slave was sick. And when you think of the need
mentioned, his servant was sick, grievously tormented of the palsy
afflicted in body and soul. And then how great his faith
was when you see the request mailed. You know what he said?
You don't need to come to my house. You don't need to come
to my house at all. You know what you've got to do?
All you've got to do, I said, I know the power you've got.
I know the authority you have. I know that you're God and I
know you've got this power and authority. All you've got to
do is speak the word. Just speak the word and my servant
will be healed. You don't have to go anywhere.
Just stay right where you are and say speak. Now, how many people believe
that about Christ and His Word? He didn't ask for no visit. He didn't ask for no signs. You
see, great faith is satisfied with the promise, with the Word
of God alone. Don't need anything else. Abraham
believed God. And then look how great it was
as you look at the argument he used. Look what he said there
in verse 8. He said, I'm not worthy that
that should come under my boot. That's the first thing he said.
I'm not worthy that you should come to my house. I'm not worthy. Why would you want to come to
my house? I'm not worthy. I'm not worthy that you should
come under my roof. But speak the word only and my
servant shall be healed. Just speak the word only and
my servant will be healed. And then look what argument he
used. I'm a man under authority too. I have authority over lots
and lots and lots of people. I have authority over hundreds
of people. And look what he said. And he said, I'll tell you to
say to this man, go. And that fella goes. He don't
make no bones about it. He don't question me. He don't
ask why. I say go and he goes. I tell
another fella, get over here. I want you over here now. And
that other fella comes just right now. And look what he said. And I tell my servant do this
and he does it. And he does it. His argument
is so simple. He said that me being a man can
command other men to do what I want them to do. You're God. And you've got such authority
and such power that you say something and disease will obey you. Devils
will obey you. And you just say the word and
things happen. And then, oh my, look at the
results of it, down in verse 13. Oh, great when you see the
results of it. Jesus said unto the centurion,
go thy way, go on home, as you believed You believe all I do
is speak the word? Well, listen, the word's been
spoken. You just go on home. And as you believe, so it be
done unto thee. And his servant was healed in
the selfsame hour. He got home, and the fellow was
setting up, got out of bed, ready to go to work. And then look
what our Lord Jesus said. He marveled. He greatly commended
this man. In verse 10. And when Jesus heard
this argument that this man made about his authority, knew him
that Christ has so much more authority than is all incredible.
And Jesus heard him marveled and said unto them that followed
him, by following him around, he said, Truly I'm telling you,
I've not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. What does he mean, I found not
such great faith, no, not in Israel? Israel was where God
was known, where the synagogue and the temple was, where the
scriptures were read. where men were supposed to know,
where God was known and His Word was known. And yet, of all the
people that believed in Israel, this man right here, he said,
I've never seen no faith like nobody. All of Israel, like this
man right here just showed, never seen such faith. So we see a
prayer of faith, prayer of submission, prayer of compassion, and look
at this prayer. This is my prayer most of the
time. The prayer of procrastination. Look down at verse 19. The prayer of procrastination, putting
things off. And a certain scribe came and
said unto him, Master, I'll follow thee whithersoever thou goeth.
You notice he didn't call him Lord, he called him Master. And
Jesus saith unto him, Point Blank made this statement.
The foxes have holes. The birds of the airs, they have
nests. But the Son of Man, He ain't got no place to lay His
head tonight. And oh, listen. And then look
what another of His disciples said unto Him, Lord, suffer me
first to go and bury my father. But Jesus said unto him, follow
me and let the dead bury the dead. And oh, lots of talk, lots
of talk here. One fellow said, I'm going to
follow you wherever you go, wherever you go. Oh, listen, wherever
you go, I'm going to follow you. And then this other, this disciple
said, Lord, suffer me. Lots of talk. I'm going to follow
you. Suffer me first. A lot of me first. That's what
he's talking about. Me first. Suffer me first. Let me go. Let me do this. Let me do that. And it seemed like a reasonable
thing. Let me go first and bury my father. My dad's dead. I want to go bury my father. Let me go bury my father before
I start following you, before I become your disciples. I've
got things to deal with before I can ever follow you. I've got
a world out here that needs me. I've got a family. I've got all
these things that demand my attention. But you know what our Lord Jesus
says? You let the dead bury the dead. The world's dead in sins. The world cares about the things
of the world. You let your family take care
of their family. You let the world take care of
the world. And you get up and follow me. That's what he said. Let the dead bury the dead. And
I tell you what, that's the natural, let the world take care of itself
and its concern. You say I'm your all, you're
saying you're going to follow me, you're saying you're trusting
me, well then follow me. Look over in Luke chapter 9.
Look in Luke 9. That's what it meant when Paul
said in Luke chapter 9 verse 59. That's what Paul meant, said
neither life nor death shall be able to separate us from the
love of Christ. And look what he said here in
verse 59. And he said unto another, follow
me. But he said, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Our
Lord said unto them, let the dead bury their dead. Let the
world take care of the world. Let dead sinners take care of
the dead since it's in the world. Things ain't never going to change.
But you go and preach the kingdom of God. You want to follow me?
Go start preaching. Go start preaching. And look
what he said. And another also said, Lord,
I'll follow thee, but first let me go bid them farewell, which
are at home in my house. I got to tell everybody, you
know, that I'm going to go follow Jesus. I want everybody to know
I got saved. I want everybody to know I'm going to follow Jesus.
I want everybody to know that I I've dedicated my life to the
Lord, and I want everybody in my house to know that I've done
it. I want everybody to know it. God save you. I want them to know it. I want
everybody to know it. Then I'll tell them, then I'll follow you.
But look what our Lord Jesus said. No man, no man, whether
his daddy's dead or whether he wants to go home and tell everybody
goodbye, Jesus said unto him, no man having put his hand to
the plow. He didn't say he started plowing
yet. He ain't moved that plow. That plow ain't been moved. That plow's not gonna be moved.
No man having put his hand to the plow and looking back. Your plow, your furrow's gonna
be in front of you. Your work's gonna be in front
of you. You don't look back when you plow. The road's gonna be
in front of you. You gotta get that thing. Then
you know you got it. He said, no man having put his
hand to the plow looking back is fit for the kingdom of God.
You can't look in two directions. You can't follow Christ and looking
back all the time. You can't follow Christ and worry
about what the world's gonna do. You can't follow Christ.
That's what our Lord's saying here right now. That's what he's
saying. And I'll tell you something, beloved, when God calls us to
do something, just do it. Just do it. If the sick need
visiting, visit them. Do the poor need help? Well,
help them. Missionaries need support? Support them. Do the
lonely need comfort? Comfort them. Somebody hungry
need feeding? Feed them. Don't advise others,
say, you go do this and you go do that. Don't say, me first.
Just do what you can. That's what our Lord said about
Mary. I said, you know, I had his baby. She was anointing his
body for Mary. I said, this woman had done what
she could. Didn't do anything else but what
she could. And that's what our Lord said
here. And that's what these fellas said. Listen, I'm gonna follow
you. But wait a minute. Let me tell you what it's gonna
take to follow me. See that fox? He's got a place to go. We can
get in tonight. See all them beautiful birds going up there?
Man, I got one tree beside the house full of bird nests. Bluebirds
make a new nest yesterday. And all these birds. He said,
they got nests they gonna get in. He said, but now you follow
me, you may not even have a place to rest tonight. You may not
have a bed to sleep in tonight. You know that? Oh, well, now
I might ought to reconsider this situation. And that's what our
Lord's saying. And when you're called to do
it, just do it. Just do it. I never will forget when Henry
Mahan told me this story, and he's talking about Barnard. They was in a meeting out in
Texas, and they had a pretty stirred
up, you know, had a pretty good meeting. Everybody got all stirred
up and everything. And about 12, 31 o'clock in the
morning, a fella banged on the door. Said, I got to see Brother
Barnard. I got to see Brother Barnard.
Well, he's in bed asleep. I got to see Brother Barnard.
So Barnard put on his robe and come down, sat in the chair and
said, what? He said, Brother Barnard, I feel
like the Lord's called me to preach. I'm going to tell you what he
said first. He said this. He said, boy, just
do it. You don't have to get me out
of bed to do that. Just do it. He called it. Just
do it. You don't have to tell me about
it. Just do it. And that's what our
Lord is saying here about this fella. Just do it. Don't get
me out of bed at one o'clock in the morning. What am I going
to do to make you a better preacher? What am I going to do? Telling
me such a thing as that. Oh, my. Oh, just got up, went
back to bed, left that boy sitting there. Oh, I bet that boy, I
bet he never disturbed anybody else at night. I wonder if he
ever did become a preacher. I never did ask him whether he
did or not. I need to ask him that. I'll write him a letter
and ask him, did that boy ever make a preacher? No. Here's another
prayer. A prayer of procrastination. But here's a prayer of fear and
little faith. Now in verse 23 here, Matthew
8. And when he was entered into
a ship, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose
a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with
the waves. But he was asleep. And his disciples
came to him and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us. We perish. Oh my. And he said unto them, Why are
you fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose and rebuked the
winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. Here's a prayer
of fear and of little faith. Let me tell you something about
little faith. Little faith is better than no faith. Little
faith is better than no faith. But let me tell you some things
about this little faith and this faith that was pure. This faith
had the right object, the Lord. They said, Lord, Lord, that's
the first they had the right object, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Call on the right person, the Lord Jesus Christ. Look to the
right person, the Lord Jesus Christ. And they requested the
right thing. The only thing that could, they
could say. And they requested the right
thing. Lord, save us. Three words. Lord, save us. Lord, save us. They saw the way
things really, you know, Save us. They seen the things really
were. They said, we perish. We perish here, Lord. Save us.
We perish. And on our master, our master,
he woke up and he said, oh, why are you so afraid? Why? Have I ever failed you yet? Have
I ever let you perish yet? Have I ever let a wave overflow
you yet? Have I ever let a storm defeat
you yet? Have I ever let the waves ever
turn your ship upside down yet? Have I not ever met every need
you've ever had? And oh, listen, and our Master always,
and look what He got, He said, then He arose, And rebuked the
winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. Our Master
always takes care of the storms. Always calms them. And He often
puts us in these storms just so He can come and calm them. And oh my. And look what it says. And the men marveled in verse
7. The men marveled. I tell you, I marvel at the Lord
Jesus Christ and how many times He saved me. I marvel how many
storms He's took me through. I marvel that He's never, ever
failed me. I marvel when I've been so afraid. And marvel when my faith didn't
seem like it existed. But still yet, He was always
there, always meeting my needs. And that's why they said, if
we marvel, what manner of man is this that even the winds and
the sea Obey Him. Oh my. Prayer of fear and little
faith. So when you're afraid and you
got little faith, you ain't got no place to go. Go to the Lord.
Save us. Save me. Save me. And then here's
another one. Here's a prayer of opposition.
Here's a prayer of opposition where they opposed our Lord Jesus
Christ. In verse 28. And when he has come into the
other side of the country, the other side into the country of
the Gorgonzenese, there met him too possessed with devils, coming
out of the tombs, exceeding fears, exceeding fears, so that no man
might pass by that way. And behold, they cried out, saying,
What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? Art thou
come here to torment us before our time? Now these are devils,
two men living in the graveyard, living among the dead, living
among the tombs. And these men were so exceeding
fierce, they acted so wild and so crazy and so fierce that men
were afraid to even come by that way, but even to come by that,
that direction. And oh, and they said, behold,
they cried out, saying, what have we to do with thee, Jesus,
thou son of God, if you come to torment us before our time?
And you know, here's a prayer that these men, they uphold these
demons, these devils in this man. And they said, what have
we to do with thee? They understood that light and
darkness has no part together whatsoever. They understood that
this is light and life and power. And they understood that they
were darkness and death and demons and devils and light and darkness
cannot walk together, cannot commune together. What part hath
Belial with Christ? What part hath Christ with the
devil? And that's why they said, and
they said, we have no part in you. That's what they're saying.
They knew who he was. They knew his power. And they
know he could do with them what they, that he would do with them
what he will. The devil and God are not equals
in any stretch of the imagination. Look at Luke 11. Luke 11, 15. And that said, if you come to
torment us before our time, what do you think they meant by torment
us before our time? I think they meant that you're
going to put us in hell before our time's up on the earth. You're
going to put us down there with the rest of the devils and demons
in hell now. You're going to torment us. You're
going to take us out of these men. You're going to take us
and send us all to hell. You're going to send us down
where the fire's burning. You're going to send us down
where there's torment. Is that what you're going to
do with us? And our time's not come to go there yet. Are you
going to come to torment us and deal with us and rebuke us and
have power over us and authority over us before it's our time
to go? Look what our Lord said in verse
11-15. But some of them said, He casteth
out devils through the Beelzebub, the chief of the devils. And
others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven. But
he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided
against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided
against a house fallen. If Satan also be divided against
himself, how shall his kingdom stand? Because you say that I
cast out devils through Beelzebub, Now if I, by Beelzebub, cast
out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore shall
they be your judges. But if I, with the finger of
God, cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God's right here,
right now in your presence. And this is how your Lord illustrated,
when a strong man armed keeps his palace, his goods are in
peace. He's got a palace. He's a strong
man. He's got arms. But when a stronger
man comes upon him and overcomes him, he taketh from him all his
armor where he trusted and divided his foes. And beloved our Lord
Jesus Christ is saying, The kingdom of God's here. The devil's casting
out devils and that's the kingdom divided against itself. And I'm
here to tell you that I'm the strong man arm. I can spoil Satan
and all of his powers and all of his principalities. I can
do what I want to with them. But these demons back over here
in Matthew 8, they knew who Jesus Christ was. They knew he was
the Son of God. People say, well, I believe in
Jesus. The devils also believe and they trim them. They trembled. And all of you come to send us
into eternal darkness and judgment? What have we to do with you?
We have nothing to do with you and you have nothing to do with
us. And all listened. I tell you this, the devil and
God are not equal. Don't ever let anybody convince
you of that. And behold, they cried out saying, what have we
to do with thee? And there was a there's a good way off from them
a herd of many swine verse 30 the devil's besought him saying
if you're going to cast us out if you're going to cast us out
of these men allow us to go into this herd of swine let us do
that don't send us into darkness don't send us into outer darkness
don't send us into eternal judgment let us go into these bunch of
pigs here let us go into these bunch of pigs and look what it
says here Verse 32, our Lord Jesus said, go. Just one word,
go. And every devil and all those
men done just exactly what, go. And those fellows left those
men and went right into those pigs. There's enough of them
that they filled every one of those pigs with the demon. And oh, now look here at this
prayer of rejection. What an awful prayer here, prayer
of rejection. Our Lord Jesus cast these demons
out and look what happens now. And when they were come out,
verse 32, when they were come out, they went into the herd
of swine. And behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down
a steep place into the sea and perished in the waters. These
pigs couldn't even bear the demons to be in them. They killed themselves.
And there's devils in them, killed all them hogs. And they that
kept those pigs, kept all that swine, they went their ways into
the city and told everything that was befallen to the possessed
of the devils. The first thing they told was
what happened to those two men. says that everything you know
there's a man there and that man told all the devils to go
out of them and go into our bunch of pigs. The first thing they
told about these men, the devils left those men and those men
are not fierce anymore. Those men have been changed.
Those men are dramatically changed. And they told everyone that was
befallen, possessed of the devils. And behold the whole city came
out to meet Jesus. Why'd they come out to meet Jesus?
They was curious. They was curious. The whole city
came out to meet Him. They wanted to come out to meet
Him who could do such a thing. But they didn't want to follow
Him. And they said this, they besought Him that He would depart
out of their coast. They preferred their swine instead
of the Savior. The devils drowned them, but
they blamed the Lord Jesus Christ for it. He has set two men free. All the demons that are in them,
they were not longer fierce. They were clothed and in their
right mind, but in state of seeking his help, they loved their darkness. And they didn't want to lose
any more pigs or any more money. And they said, depart from us.
you need to go through the get your concord one of these days
and you find how many times just in the gospels that men says
depart from us you'd hardly think that anybody would say depart
from me but this whole town said depart from us the whole city
and it says the whole city came out to meet him the whole city
got together and said oh listen we don't want you around here
We don't want your power. We don't want you taking these
men and straightening them out and cleaning them of their devils
and making them have some sense and make them clothed in the
right mind and they're not fierce any longer. But oh, you cost us some money.
You cost us some labor. You cost us something and I tell
you, depart from us. And you know what the scripture
said and he did. Look what it said in verse 1.
Chapter 9. He entered into a ship and passed
over and came into his own city. I tell you, you say depart from
me and he will. And you go sometime and look
at all the words where it says depart from me. Seven prayers. Prayer of submission. Prayer
of compassion. Prayer of faith. Prayer of procrastination. Prayer of opposition. Prayer
of rejection. And I want to be that first fella,
that second fella, and that third fella. I don't want to be any
of the rest of them. I want to be like those first
three prayers. That's the way I want to pray.
Don't you? Our Father, O gracious God in
heaven, Lord, bless your word to the understanding. I thank
you for it. Bless it to our hearts, bless
it to our souls, bless it to faith, bless it to our understanding. And O Lord, teach us of these
things, from these things, and unto your holy name in our lives,
in our thoughts, in our prayers. Oh, God, honor yourself in us.
Glorify yourself through us. For, Lord, if you don't, we won't.
And, oh, we desire to and we want to. And by your grace, we
will. Thank you for the day. Thank
you for your goodness and the fellowship we've enjoyed in Christ
and in the gospel. Thank you for your dear saints
here. Please be pitiful towards the sick. Peggy, Kathleen, Danny,
Joe William, have mercy on them, please. For Christ's sake. Amen. Amen. There's a chorus we used
to sing. It's in the chorus book. You all get this. And it's the
second part of it. We haven't sung this in a long
time, and I don't know if I can lead it or not, but I'm going
to. Number two, Under the Blood of
Jesus. We haven't sung that in a long
time, and that's been on my mind. And I don't know if I can lead
it or not, but I'm going to try. Number two, Under the Blood of
Jesus, in the second part of the book. Do you remember playing that,
Marlene? Under the blood of Jesus, safe
in the shepherd's fold. Under the blood of Jesus, Save while the air I can't keep
it in tune Safe though the worlds may crumble Safe though the stars
grow dim Under the blood of Jesus I am secure in Him. We need to practice that a little
more. We sing that all the time. And I'll get started right, and
then I'll get off somewhere in there, but that's, you know,
that's why I'm not a song leader. Good night and God bless you.
See you Wednesday.
