John 17, These words spake Jesus,
and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is
come. Glorify thy son, that thy son
also may glorify thee. As thou hast given him power
over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many
as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that
they might know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom
Thou hast sent. I have glorified Thee on the
earth. I have finished the work which
Thou gavest me to do. I want to talk today about, or
this evening, about three things here given to Christ in these
verses that I've read. And our Lord here prayed to His
Father. pray to his father, and he presents
first of all his pleas for himself. The hour is coming. The hour
is here. The hour that I came into this
world for. It's come. And he prays for himself. And he prays about his father
glorifying the son. Oh father, glorify thou the son. And you glorify me that I might
turn around and glorify you. And that's what he wanted more
than anything to glorify his father while he is on this earth.
You keep this and look with me in John chapter 8 and let me
show you. Our Lord Jesus Christ, his whole life on earth was given
to one cause, that was to honor and glorify his father and do
the work that was given him to do. And our Lord Jesus Christ
said here in verse 47 of John chapter 8, He that is of God,
heareth God's words. And I mean he was talking about
right then and there. He was talking about since the
beginning. Abraham was of God. He heard God's Word. Noah was
of God. He heard God's Word. Jeremiah
was of God. He heard God's Word. And everyone
who is begotten of God and is of God, they hear the Word of
God. Ye therefore hear them not. You
know why a person don't hear it? Because they're not of God.
Then answered the Jews that said unto him, Say we not well that
thou art a Samaritan, a half-breed, and hast a devil? Jesus answered, I have not a
devil. Now listen to what he says, But
I honor my Father, and you do dishonor me. And I seek not mine
own glory, and there is one that seeketh and judges. He says,
I honor my father and you dishonor me. And I seek not my own glory. And there's one that seeketh
the judge. I came here to do not my own will, but to glorify
him. But now back over in John 17.
It says here, O father, glorify thy son, that thy son also may
glorify thee. Now God glorified his son. I
want to talk about the first thing that God did is he gave,
glorified his son, and the son the father. But here's the thing
that he did in glorifying him. He glorified God, glorified his
son in his authority. in his authority look what he
said in the very beginning there in verse 2 as thou hast given
him all power that's how the father glorified the son by giving
him all authority all authority as thou hast given him all power
what does it mean to have all power? it means he's got all
power where does he have power at? you read it tonight in heaven
and earth he's the head of the body He's the head of this creation. By Him all things were made were
made. Without Him was not anything made that was made. And our Lord
Jesus Christ says, the Father loveth the Son, and hath given
all things into His hands. And I know this, beloved, that
He gave our Lord Jesus Christ a dominion, an everlasting dominion. He had a dominion before the
world was, and everything on the top side of this earth, everything
under the earth, everything above the earth, every world that there
are, our Lord Jesus Christ has authority over every bit of it.
And He gave Him all power and all authority. He says, Psalm
89 and verse 27, He says, I will say that thou art My begotten
Son, and I will give all power unto you. And I mean, then He
says He gave Him not only all power, but He gave Him power
over all flesh. All flesh. And I mean that saved
flesh, lost flesh, religious flesh, unreligious flesh. I tell
you, anybody that's got flesh on it, Christ has got all power
over it. Animal flesh, human flesh, it
don't make no difference. He's got the power over it, over
all flesh. And then people despise that.
They hate that. But that means that He has power
over everything that rise and wriggles on this earth. He says,
God has given Him all power over all flesh. And I'll tell you,
look in Hebrews 9 and 2 with me for just a minute. Hebrews
2. You know, our Lord Jesus Christ,
I love this. I love the fact that the Father
has given all power unto a man. There's an old message I heard
years and years ago by a fellow named Herman Moore. And if you
can ever find it, you need to find it and listen to it. There's
a man in glory. And he talked about all the power
and the glory of that man sitting in heaven. And our Lord Jesus
Christ, I love this. You know, you see these things,
make Him Lord over this town, make Him Lord over that. And
there's this thing, you know, if you want God to put Him in
authority over America, pray that God straighten up America. Listen, God's doing just exactly
what He wants to do for who He wants to do. He can save a nation,
He can raise down a nation. You know how many nations have
existed in all their power and their glory, and Christ had dominion
over every one of them, and when their time was done, down they
went, and when there's another time for another, here come another
one. That's why our Lord Jesus Christ, He said, you dishonor
my Father, I honor Him, and when you dishonor Him, you dishonor
me. And oh, and here He says in Hebrews
2, in verse 7, Talking about our Lord Jesus
Christ, thou hast made, thou madest him a little lower than
the angels. For a while, it says in the margin,
for a while inferior to. But you crowned him, you never
crowned an angel with glory and honor, but you crowned him with
glory and honor. And listen to this, did set him
over the works of thy hands. Thou hast put all things in subjection
under his feet. For in that he put all his subjection
under him, he left nothing that is not put under him." Nothing! Now look what he says,
but now we see Jesus But now we see Jesus, not yet all things
put under him. And then he says, but we see
Jesus, who was made a little lower than angels for the suffering
of death, crowned with glory, that he, by the grace of God,
should taste death for all the man, every man that the Father
gave him. And beloved, what this means
is that our Lord Jesus Christ, though he was made low, though
he tasted death, And as he went all the way down, it didn't look
like anything was under his authority. Anything under his authority.
And look in John 19, and you'll see just what I mean. John 19
and 10. Oh, you know, they said it don't
look like things are put under his feet. Don't look like he
has any power. Don't look like he has any authority. Did it
look like he had authority? And they said to him, said, didn't
we say, well, the daughter of Samaritan, that you have a devil? It didn't look like that. Everything's
under His authority. And it doesn't look like it right
now as far as this world's concerned. But I'll tell you who we do see.
We see the Lord Jesus Christ. We don't see everything under
His feet yet. But you just hold on. You know
what the Father, He says, Thou wilt sit at My right hand until
I make Thine enemies. What? You fuss too. We don't see it yet, but in our
hearts and in our minds and in our soul, we understand that
everything is under His authority. Everything's under His blessed
power. Then look what He said here, John chapter 19, 10. Then
said Pilate unto him, speakest thou not unto me? You're not
going to talk to me? Knowest thou not that I have
power to crucify thee and have power to release thee? Jesus
answered, Thou couldst have no power at all against me, except
it were given thee from above. Wherefore, therefore, he that
delivered unto me hath a greater sin. Oh my, he said, oh you don't
have any power. You just do live in a fantasy
world. And oh, beloved, I tell you, the Father gave all authority
unto him. Not only did he give him authority,
but he also gave him a people. Look again there in verse 2 of
John 17. Thou hast given him, this is what the Father gave
him, all power over all flesh. And then a people was given to
him. He said in verse 2, that he should give eternal life to
as many as thou hast given him. That's why he gave him all power.
that he might give eternal life. Who's he going to give it to?
As many as was given to him. We're not on a fool's errand
here. As many as, to as many as were ordained to eternal life,
believe. As many as thou hast given him
shall come to him." Oh, he says, all that the Father gives me,
every single one of them, they're going to come to me. And when
they come to me, I'll never cast them out. And you know, it's
like Joseph, our Lord Jesus Christ, as he has a people given to him.
Joseph, brought up out of the dungeon, brought up out of prison. Haman despised of his brethren.
He was sent over the throne, sent over all authority, all
power over the food. Everything in Egypt was given
over to Joseph. Everything was given to him.
Now he had authority over everybody. If anybody ate, it was because
of Joseph. And everything, I mean the wickedest
ones in the world, they came and they had to answer to Joseph. All authority, but then his brethren
came. What did he do for them? He done
things for them he didn't do for nobody else. First of all, he loved them. He loved them. And he wept over
them. And then he gave them bundles
and bundles and bundles and wagon loads of stuff and said, bring
your father back down here. And he loved them and he gave
them. Then he revealed himself to them, made himself known to
them and them alone as to who he really was. Everybody else
has seen him in authority. They saw him. As a brother beloved,
they saw him as one that they had ridiculed, but still yet
he loved them and he gave to them and revealed himself to
them. And you know what he gave them? He gave them the best land
that there was in all of Egypt. And ain't that the way our Lord
Jesus Christ does for us? He said, ask of me and I'll give
you the heathen for your inheritance. And He loved us, gave Himself
for us, and then made it known to us 2,000 years after He did
it. Huh? And you know who He reveals Himself
to? His brethren. His brethren. And oh, beloved,
He said in Isaiah 53, He says, I poured out my soul. Soul. For who? For my sheep. The Father saw
the travail, my soul was satisfied with me. By my righteous knowledge
shall I justify many. And you know what we are? We're
His reward. He said, ask of me and I'll give
thee the heathen for thine inheritance. You know what His inheritance
is? Us. You know what another thing He
said over in Malachi? He says, when I make up my jewels,
He calls us His jewels. He calls us His peculiar treasure.
He calls us His beloved. He calls us His elect. He calls us vessels of honor.
He calls us vessels of mercy. He calls us children. He calls us brethren. He's got nothing but wonderful,
blessed things for us. And that's what he says, as many
as thou hast given me. And you know what he'll do? He
said he's gonna bring many, many sons to glory. Look what he said
here in John chapter 12 and 17 verse 12, look what he says.
And he ain't gonna lose none of them. Oh Lord, you've given them the
eternal life that I should give as many as thou hast given me.
He said, while I was with them in the world, I kept them in
my name. Those that thou gavest me, I've
kept, and none of them is lost. Except one fellow. Oh, he's a
son of perdition. Oh my, I won't lose a one of
them. And then his third thing he gave
him, you know, it glorified him in his authority. gave him all
power, and then a people said, as many as thou hast given him.
And then look what else he did, he gives them eternal life. Thou
hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal
life to as many as thou hast given him. And what is eternal
life? Our Lord Jesus Christ said, I'm
going to give them eternal life, and this is what life eternal
is, that they might know Thee, the only true God. What is eternal
life? The Son glorified the Father
in giving this eternal life. And what is eternal life? To
know God. To know God. Well, God can only
be known by one way. By one person. And that's the
Lord Jesus Christ. God's made known through the
Lord Jesus Christ. And that's what He says, that
I may glorify Thee. And I tell you what, not only
that, but it's of grace. You know what it says? That I
should give. Give eternal life. Not earned. Not deserved. I heard
about an old black preacher, John Jasper. Somebody asked him
one time, said, Brother John, you reckon that
when you get to heaven, what if you find out you don't deserve
to be there? He said, I'm not going because
I deserve to be there. I don't deserve any of that. If I go, it's not because I deserve
to be there. I'll go because Christ loved
me and gave himself for me, died for me. He said, what if you
get in there and then all of a sudden they decide that you
know they made a mistake and they put you back out? He said,
well, now if that was to happen, He said, God would lose a heaps
of more than I would. He said, I would lose my soul,
but God would lose his honor. God would lose his glory. Because
if anyone that our Lord Jesus Christ gave eternal life to ended
up being lost, then God's got more to lose than we do. And
that's what he means. He said, I give unto them. They
don't deserve it. They ain't earned it. They don't
merit it. And the only reason I give them life is because there's
a people that's given to me and God promised me that they would
come to me. And then I come to me, I give
them life. And oh, and it's a grace. And I tell you, he's the author
of eternal life. You keep John 17 and look in
1 John chapter 5 and verse 20. 1 John chapter 5 and verse 20. You know, He's the author of
eternal life. Our Lord Jesus Christ is. In Him is life. In the life is
the light of man. 1 John chapter 5 and verse 20. And this is what our Lord Jesus
Christ says. He says, this is eternal life.
I'm going to give them eternal life, those you gave me. And
eternal life is to know God. Look what he said here in 1 John
5, 20. And we know that the Son of God
is come and hath given us an understanding. God gave us this understanding.
There was a time we didn't have this, James. But He came and
what He done when He came, He gave us an understanding. And
what did He give us an understanding of? That we may know Him that
is true. And we're in Him that is true,
even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal
life. Knowing God, back over in John
17, knowing God and eternal life are inseparable. You can't know
God and have life, and you can't have life and not know God. Oh, they people talk about knowing
God and loving God and worshiping God and all that, but I tell
you what, knowing God, And eternal life is inseparable. This is
eternal life that they might know Thee, the only true God. When he talks about knowing God,
he's not talking about speculation. He's not talking about speculation.
No, no. He's not talking about a theory
out here, a power above us, a supreme being. Somebody that's a pie
in the sky, somebody? No, no. It's not an intellectual
apprehension. But to know God is practical. It's practical actually knowing
Him. And knowing Him affects your life. It affects your thoughts. It works your experience. It's
experiential. It's a spiritual knowledge. It's
a knowing God. I know God. I know He's holy. I know He's sovereign. I know
He's gracious. I know He's glorious. I know
He's merciful. I know He's just. And I know He's a person. And that's why when Stephen was
preaching, you know what he said? He said, when the God of glory
appeared unto our father Abraham when he dwelt in Mesopotamia.
What happened to him? He went out. And when the God
of glory appears unto you, you know what you do? You come out.
Come out of the world. Come out of your refuge. Come
out of your religion. Come out clean. Come out hopeless. Come out and say, Lord, you've
got all the power and I don't have any. And saving knowledge
is knowing God. And knowing Christ because God
is in Christ. I tell you, beloved, He reconciled
us by His blood, His redemption. And saving knowledge is knowing
God. And what, tell me this, what
brings more glory to the Father than that He should be known?
Our Lord said, I come to glorify the Father. What brings more
glory to the Father than that the Son should make Him known? And what should give more glory
to the Father than had that He should be known? And when you
know Him, you trust Him, you love Him, you worship Him, you
obey Him, you serve Him, by those who He gives life to. Oh, knowing
God. Knowing God. I told somebody the other day,
I said, one thing I know, I know this, I said, if I do, if I sin,
I say when I sin, when I do, I know this, that I don't do
it because I presume upon the grace of God. I don't say I'm
going to do this because I'm saved by grace. I sin, I fall,
but I don't say, well, I'm doing this because God saved me by
His grace. I don't use grace as a crutch
to allow me to do certain things. It's me that does the sinning. And I'm thankful that I know
God, and I know that there's plenty of mercy with Him. And
that to know God is eternal life. And I can't lose this life. Because
He gave me this life. And to trust God, to love God,
to worship God, obey God. Eternal life is the essence of
blessings are contained in this one word, eternal life. You can't
have life without Christ. And you can't have life without
God. And if you can't know God, if
you don't have life, and you can't have life, then not know
God and worship God. And this is the promise. I'll
read it to you. You don't have to look at it.
I'll just read it to you. Over in 1 John 2.25. This is the thing
that he said over here. He said this about a promise.
Promise of eternal life. Listen to what he said in 1 John
2.25. And this is the promise. Promise that He has promised
us even Eternal life. This is the promise that He promised
us. He made a promise, and I'm going
to tell you the promise He made. And what it is? He promised us
eternal life. And once you've got it, you know
how long it lasts? That's why we just say goodbye
here. And good morning when we see you. Good night here, good
morning when we see you. All we're doing is leaving this
body. behind that life of Christ in us. Christ in you, the hope
of glory. That's the life that we have.
That's the life we enjoy. That's the thing that's so wonderful
to us. And then he says back over here
that has given him power, gave him all authority, gave him a
people, and that he should give eternal life. And this eternal
life is to know God. Knowing God, and then he says,
know the only true God. Now what does he mean by the
only true God? He means everything else that
anybody worship is an idol. Paul told the Thessalonians,
he says, we know that you have turned from your idols to serve
the living God. You turn from your idols to serve
the living God. And beloved, when he talks about
the only true God, that excludes everything in this world but
God. There ain't but one true God
in this world. If he's got any competition, then he's not God.
If the devil has power equal to him, then he's not God. And
I tell you, men grow angrier when their idols are not worshipped,
when their idols are torn down, when their idols are killed.
When they're destroyed, when they're exposed for what they
are. Look over at Acts with me, chapter 19. I'll show you what
I'm talking about. Oh, I remember when mine were attacked.
I remember it very well. I remember when God went after
my idols. He went after my righteousness and wouldn't let me keep it. Went after my legalism, wouldn't
let me keep it. Went after my fundamentalism,
wouldn't let me keep it. Went after my works, wouldn't
let me glory in them. Went after my giving, wouldn't
let me brag about that. He just wouldn't let me talk
about my ministry. I lost everything I had. Every
time I'd reach to get a hold of something to hold on to, I
said, this will be it. He said, surely let me have this. No,
I've got to go. And you know what I was left
with when he was through with me? The true God in Jesus Christ
and His hands and His will to do with me as I pleased. Hey,
that's a tough way to road the whole way to Gary. Some of you
hold that road and it's tough. But oh, what a wonderful peace. Oh, coming down from the Father
above. That peace that comes, that sets
down deep in your heart that nobody can steal away. Whenever
you come to that place where you have nothing but God. Nothing but God. Old Scott used
to say that. He said, boy, when you ain't
got nothing but God, you're in good shape. You're all right. If there ain't nothing left but
God, like Job had, then you'll be all right. And oh, look here
in Acts chapter 19 and verse 24. Talking about idols now. Know
the only true God. For a certain man named Demetrius,
a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no
small gain unto the craftsmen. I mean, they made a good living.
Whom he called together with workmen of like occupation. Says,
sirs, you know that by this craft we have our wealth. What craft? Making idols. making crosses,
making crucifixes, making pictures. Moreover, you see and hear that
not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul
hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they
be no gods which are made with hands. Oh, wait a minute. No gods made
with hands? So that not only this our craft
is in danger to be set at naught, but also that the temple of the
great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence
should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshipeth. And when they heard these things,
they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is the
Diana of the Ephesians. Oh, Paul, you go ahead and preach
what you want to, just don't take our gods, don't take our
idols. You know, they didn't want to turn loose of them idols.
And when they heard these things, full of wrath, And the whole
city filled with confusion. And I tell you, beloved, you
see when they got upset? When they thought they were going
to lose their living. Because there ain't no gods made with
hands. That's Paul preaching that there's no gods made with
hands. No gods made with hands. And I tell you, I don't want
to hurt anybody's feelings, but We should never have any idols
in our homes. I don't care what kind of idol
it is. If it's a picture on the wall, if it's a calendar of Jesus,
you know pictures of Jesus. If it's a statue of some kind, don't have no idols. Don't have
something that when you look at makes you feel religious. If you look at something and
it makes you feel religious, it's an idol. Ain't that right? Would you agree with that? Y'all ever seen that picture?
I remember years ago they had this picture of Christ, you know,
and this picture that had a crucifixion on it. And you know, they say,
boy, this is eerie. He said, walk over there. He'd
walk over here. He said, watch his eyes falling. He'd walk over
here. He said, watch his eyes falling. Like you know he's alive. He's alive. If you have anything that you
look at, or do that makes you feel religious, you better get
rid of it. And then he says that they might
know thee the only true God, and look what our Lord said,
and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent. Jesus Christ whom thou
hast, you see, knowing the true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou
hast sent. You know, this is the only time
our Lord Jesus called himself Jesus Christ. He told his name
but he never called himself the Christ. But this is the only
time in all the scriptures that he called himself Jesus Christ. And when it says, Jesus Christ
whom thou hast sent, this tells us first of all that he was with
the Father before he ever came into this world. Ain't that right? Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.
That tells us that He was with the Father before He ever came
into this world. That He was God that came into
this world. That He was God Almighty. He
comes from God and He's going to go back to the Father. And
when it says, Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent, this tells us
about His incarnation. That He came through the womb
of a virgin. That when the fullness of time
was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under
the law. And Jesus Christ, whom thou hast
sent, thee sent him to be in the office of a mediator and
a redeemer. He came, sent him here to do
something for his people. He's our apostle and high priest.
He's the one that was sent of the Father. And the only time
he calls himself Jesus Christ. And then he said in verse 4,
in John 17, in order to know eternal life
to know thee the only true God and Jesus Christ whom thou hast
sent God sent him sent him into this world as thou hast sent
me into the world I'm going to send him into the world he said
I glorified thee on the earth I glorified thee on the earth
not in heaven on the earth on the earth God was glorified in
creation. The heavens declared the glory
of God. The firmament shows His handiwork. He is glorified in
His providence all down through history as He protected and provided
and directed in all of His people in everything that they ever
went through. But the Son glorifies the Father in a unique way, in
a glorious way that no one else ever did on the earth. Christ
glorified Him in His person. Our Lord Jesus Christ, when you
saw Him, you saw God. He said, He beamed the brightness
of His glory and expressed the image of His person. In Him dwelled
the fullness of the Godhead bodily. He glorified Him by His miracles. All the miracles that our Lord
Jesus Christ did. All the miracles that He did.
You keep John 17. Look in Matthew chapter 9 with
me just a minute. Matthew chapter 9. He glorified
Him in His miracles. Oh my, no one ever raised the
dead like our Lord did. No one ever opened the blind
eyes the way our Savior did. In Matthew chapter 9, look what
He says here. He glorified Him by His miracles. It says in Matthew 9.2, And behold,
they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed. And Jesus, seeing their faith,
said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins
be forgiven thee. And behold, certain of the scribes
said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. And Jesus, knowing
their faults, said, Wherefore think you evil in your hearts? Is it easier to say, Thy sins
be forgiven thee, or to say, Arise and walk? Which is easier? Which is easier? But that you may know, that the
Son of Man hath power on earth to forgive sins. Then saith he
to the sick of their palsy, Arise, take up thy bed, and go to thy
house. And he arose, and departed to his house. And when the multitude
saw it, they marveled, and glorified God, which had given such power, Your sins are forgiven you. And
I'll tell you something, you may lay in a sick bed a lot of
many years in your life, but if your sins are taken care of,
it don't make no difference. Right? Don't make any difference. Fanny
Crosby, blind all of her life. God couldn't have gave her sight
like that if He chose to. God can heal a man just in the,
I mean with just one word, that's all it takes. Lazarus come forth
and they come forth. I will be clean and you clean
like that. And immediately the leprosy left
him. He can do what He will for who
He wills in this world. But the thing that all matters
is in people so interested in this body and the healing of
this body. But He said, Thy sins be forgiven
thee. And I tell you what, if they
had carried that man back to his house and still was sick
of the palsy, He'd still be in glory today, and they'd have
no palsy there. But thy Lord Jesus Christ did
it to let them people know that I can not only forgive sins,
and God's in me. You get up and walk out of here. And I believed that with all
my heart. And then He glorified him in
His words, constantly attributing all praise and all honor to His
Father. He said, Father, I thank you
that you hid these things from the wide and prudent. Revealed
them unto babes. Why? Because it seemed good in
your sight. And when he stood and he prayed
outside Lazarus' tomb, he said, I thank you, Father. I know that
you hear me always, but I call on you that thou mayest know
that you sent me And when I raise this man from the dead, they
know that it's you in me doing it. That's what he says. And
I tell you, he glorified him in his holy, sinless, obedient
life. Holy, harmless, undefiled. Adam,
the first Adam sinned and failed and all of us lost in him. But
that last Adam restored what he took not away. Psalm 69 verse
4 said, He restored that which He took not away. And our Lord
Jesus Christ, He glorified the Father in a unique way. He was
sent as a representative of His people. And as a representative
of His people, He rendered obedience to God's blessed law, the will
of God in every respect. And He fulfilled it for those
that were given to Him. and beloved now he has sent forth
the spirit of his son into our hearts and you know what we've
done we cry I have a father and then look back what else he says
over here in John 17 in verse 4 I have glorified thee on the
earth glorified you on the earth and then he says this and I have
finished the work I have glorified you on the earth You know the place where God
is most dishonored? From the first man Adam to every
man that's ever been on the face of the earth since. On this earth
is where God is dishonored. From the first man He made to
every man since. But I tell you where He's not
dishonored at. He's not dishonored. He's not disobeyed. He's not
ridiculed in heaven. only on earth and only by men
all the creation does exactly what God made him to do but man
God made him to glorify him and enjoy him forever and man is
the only one who dishonors him despises him hates him rejects
him and Cusses him and uses his name in vain. You'll never find
any animal on the face earth that'll do that, but man But
I tell you what And always he said I come to glorify
you on the earth and he says and I finished the work that
you gave me to do I finished the work to glorify you. I finished
the work to save those that you gave me. I finished the work. I have put away sin once and
for all by the sacrifice of myself. And you know what? Just in a
very few days, you know what he'd cry from the cross? It is
finished. I glorified you on the earth
and I finished the work that you gave me to do. Huh? I want to glorify him on the
earth, don't you? Oh, our gracious, gracious God
in heaven. Oh, blessed Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ. What a joy, what a joy, what
a joy fills our soul, floods our soul when we talk of you
and speak of you and consider you in your glory, consider you
in your power, consider you in the life that you give us, consider
you as you glorify your Father in the work that you came to
do. Oh, blessed be your name. Oh, Father, continue to work
in us. And our Father, for Christ's sake, work in the hearts of those
here. Save your people in this place.
Make yourself known to them. Oh, our Lord Jesus Christ, we
know you're going to give life to those that were given to you.
And Lord, those that are here that's been given to you, give
them that assurance of life. Give them that peace of life.
Give them that joy of life. Give them that rest that goes
with this life. Give them that wonderful, wonderful
blessedness of knowing what it is to know the true God and Jesus
Christ whom you have sent. We ask these things in your own
holy name. Amen. Amen. Amen. Let's turn in our hymn books
to 209, I think it is. 209. Yes. We're staying together.
