with me if you would now to Ecclesiastes chapter 11. Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes. 865 is the page in my Bible. Ecclesiastes chapter 11. I was thinking about the story of Moses' birth that we looked at last Sunday morning for our Bible study, and how beautiful the picture is of Moses' mother. Her name was Jochebed.

We looked at four different pictures of Christ in his birth, and his mother was one of those pictures, and I was thinking, how beautiful that picture is, how she, humanly speaking, was his physical maker in the sense that he was formed in her and came forth from her, and how she was the one who physically prepared the ark.

Moses was placed in a little boat, it's called an ark, and she's the one who physically repaired the ark, which was also a type of Christ. And she was the one who put Moses in the ark. And she was the one who put Moses into the river of death. She's the one who put him there. And she put him there in that ark. And how Moses, representing the child of God, the elect child of God, was drawn out of that river in the ark because of the ark and brought right back to her.

I just couldn't help but think about that. It was a full circle transaction that started and ended with her. And that's how it is with the Lord our God. That's how it is with the Lord Jesus Christ, our maker. All things were made by him. Without him was not anything made that was made. He is our maker. He is the one who formed us from the dust of the ground. And he prepared himself to be our ark. And He put us in Him. You say, well, the Father put us in Him. He said, you've seen me, you've seen the Father. I and my Father are one. He's the one who sent us into the judgment of God, the condemnation of death.

He did that on the cross of Calvary in Him. And He's the one who raised us back out of that condemnation of death. in him. And he did that so that he could bring us right back to him to love us, to nurture us, to care for us. The entire transaction of salvation was a full circle transaction totally performed by him. It was totally performed by him. He authored it, he performed it, and he finished it.

Jochebed, Moses' mother, she's a beautiful picture of the Lord Jesus Christ. I was just thinking about this. While I was thinking about that, this thought came to my mind. Jochebed is also a beautiful picture of the child of God. All of God's people who come to know something of true faith and true trust in him. The Lord brings his people to true faith in him. True trust in him.

That's what I desire for us. That is what I desire for us. I cannot tell you how often I see your faces in my study. I preach to you all week long. And as I was writing these notes and thinking on these things, and here's why. I know you. I know your families as you sit here in families. I know where you work. I know a little bit about what's going on in your lives. I know how difficult the earth is. And I want to be right there with you. I know a little something about myself and my family. I know where I work. And I know a little bit about how difficult my life is in this world. And I want all of us to have true faith, not just faith, not just, um, faith and trust in theory or faith and trust in doctrine. But I mean, true, I mean, heart, real faith, real trust. In thinking about all of this, this scripture came to my mind.

Ecclesiastes 11 verse 1, it says, cast thy bread upon the waters for thou shalt find it after many days. Cast your bread upon the waters and it'll come back to you. Just like Moses' mother did with Moses. She cast him to the waters. And he came right back to her.

I want us to look for a minute tonight at what that is saying, what it means. I want us to enter into the blessing of true faith and true trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. Cast your bread on Him. Cast your hope on Him. Cast your all on Him and thou shalt find it. Lose it. What did Moses' mother do in that moment? She lost him. Put him in an ark, set him in the reeds and walked away. His sister stayed to watch him, but that was it. Gone. Lose it. Lose everything on him. And you'll find.

You know, our Lord said, whosoever shall lose his life or lose her life. For my sake and the gospel sake, the same shall find it. And truly Christ is the only example of that. He is the only example of that. He lost his life for the gospel sake. He lost his life for salvation's sake, for his own sake as the Savior. Call his name Jesus because he's the Savior. He willingly laid down all. He cast all. He's the only example of this. Though he was rich, he became poor that through his poverty his people might be rich.

So, first and foremost, this verse describes Christ. This is speaking of Christ. Cast thy bread upon the waters, for thou shalt find it After many days, He cast His bread, our Lord, His bread, His substance, His sustenance. He cast His goodness, His grace, His mercy, His light, His life, His all. He cast it on the dark, void waters of His sinful people.

That's what the very first words of this book tell us. Look with me over at Genesis chapter 1. That's how this whole thing starts. Genesis one, verse one, it says in the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." Those dark, void waters. That's us. Verse 3, and God said, let there be light. And there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good. He cast his all on the waters of his sinful people, and his casting did not return to him void. It was good.

Christ is the fulfillment of this. Christ cast his all on us, and because of that, we can now cast our all on him. If we cast our all on him, it's the result of him casting his all on us. But because he did that, We can do that. We can cast our all on Him who said, I'm the living water. He said, I am the spiritual water. Cast your bread on the water. That's Christ. Turn with me over to First Corinthians 10. First Corinthians 10 verse one says, moreover, brethren, I would not that you should be ignorant.

How that all our fathers were under the cloud and all passed through the sea and we're all baptized under Moses in the cloud and in the sea and did all eat the same spiritual meat and did all drink the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual rock that followed them, and that rock was Christ.

Do you remember the gospel according to Lucy Jean Simpson? Her last name's not Simpson anymore, it's Leith. She was four years old, and we were having dinner at their house, Adam and Carrie's house, It was time to eat, and we were taking our seats, and I sat in my seat, and Lucy, at four years old, crawled up in her seat. And in hearing these stories will make you so thankful for these little Bible classes that we have, all these teachers that teach these little children. But she's four years old, and she's crawling up and scooting up in her seat, and she's holding up a picture that she'd colored.

And I said, oh, what a beautiful picture you have. And she said, thank you. Would you like for me to tell you about it? And I said, I sure would. And she held it up and there was a man and some people and a waterfall. And she said, well, this is Moses and these are the children of Israel. And the children of Israel were whining and complaining. and whining and complaining. That sounds just like us, doesn't it? They said, we're so thirsty, Moses. We're just so thirsty. And they just kept whining and complaining and whining and complaining. She said, so do you know what Moses did?

And I said, what? She said, he struck the rock. And she said, do you know what came out of that rock? And I said, what? She said, living water. And the people drank, and they drank, and they were so satisfied. Four years old. And she said, do you know who that rock was? And I said, who? She said, Jesus Christ. And do you know what that rock did? And I said, what? She said, it followed them all the days of their life. That rock is Christ. And the water from that rock is Christ. He said, I am the living water.

Isaiah 55 says, ho, everyone that thirsteth, come ye to the waters. Come to Christ. Come to Christ. Cast your all, your bread, as Ecclesiastes 11 says. The word bread in our text there, it means food, it means grain, but it means life. Substance, sustenance, life.

Cast your life on Him. This is what true faith and true trust is, and I want us to have it so badly. I want it and I want you to have it so badly. And it's going to take the power of God to give it to us. But this is what it is, cast your life on the Lord Jesus Christ because He cast His all on you. Do you know when the Lord came down and saved us and performed this great full circle work of salvation, He cast His all on us.

I love that song, A Ransom Was Found, a line in it says, as poor wretched sinners, no God and no hope, it seemed there was no one to help. But God in his mercy, salvation supplied, emptied heaven and came down himself. And a ransom was found, emptied heaven. Another song says, emptied himself of all but love and bled for Adam's helpless race. Because He cast His all on us, we can cast our all on Him. And His promise is, as His casting on us did not return to Him void, our casting on Him will not return to us void. Think about that. It will not return to us void.

Cast thy bread upon the waters for thou shalt find it after many days. You shall. Now I told you that I wanted us to look at the blessing of true faith and trust in and on the Lord Jesus Christ. And I want us to enter into that blessing by the word that he has promised to us.

He said you cast and you'll find. Cast your bread, cast your life and you'll find life. The only way we can cast is if he's given life to us. But you'll find life in here. Cast the beginning of your hope and you'll find the end of your hope. You'll lay hold of it. You'll lay hold of the hope that Jesus Christ set before you. cast in Christ, you've been given the ability to so cast, cast. All right.

That's where the blessing comes in. It's in his promise to us that we can cast truly cast on him. Let me show you three scriptures that tell us what we can cast on him. Go to Psalm 55 with me. Psalm 55 verse 22 says, cast thy burden upon the Lord and he shall sustain thee. He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Cast thy burden.

The word burden means gift or lot. that has been given to you. If you have a center margin, it says gift in your center margin, but that's not a gift that you give. That's a gift that's been given to you. That's a lot that has been given to you. Another way to say that is your lot in life. Your lot in life.

Let's really think about this. Apply it to yourself. Apply it to your situation. Apply it to your home. Apply it to your work. Apply it to you. I'll apply it to me. You apply it to you. Your lot in life. That's what burden means. Cast your lot in life upon the Lord. And he shall sustain thee. He shall sustain thee. He shall never suffer you in Christ. This said the righteous. That's God's people in Christ. He'll never suffer you in Christ to be moved. Cast your lot in life, whatever your lot, whatever lot has been given to you, whatever your gift is. And if it's of God, it is a gift. If it's of God, it is good. It's a good and perfect thing. But cast your lot in life. Upon him.

Upon the Lord Jesus Christ, I pray that Lord will. Calls all of us to do this and teach all of us to do this and allow all of us to do this to trust in the one who is our life. Christ, who is our life. Allow us to truly trust the one who is our life with every single thing that pertains to our life, knowing he shall sustain us. He will sustain us. David said in Psalm 27, and let me just interject this.

Either you have needed this, you need this, or you're about to need this. Some of you are saying, yeah, I needed that when I was just going through what I was going through. Some of you may say, I need this right now. Some of you may say, well, I'll put that in my back pocket for tomorrow and maybe tomorrow you'll really truly need this.

But David said, I would have fainted had I not been caused to believe. Had I not been caused to truly trust and believe to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living, I would not have made it. I would have fainted. When it comes to our lot in this life, everything concerning us in this life, Lord, let us cast our bread upon the waters. Christ, the living waters.

Turn with me to Proverbs 16. Proverbs 16 verse 3, it says, commit or roll or cast thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. Cast thy works. The word works means labors, deeds, everything produced by you, bad or good, works. That's what it means. Everything produced by you, bad or good. Now listen, all of your bad deeds, you say, well, I don't have any. You're a liar. That's a bad deed. All of your bad deeds, commit them to the Lord. Commit them to the Lord.

You hear that, and that's like when the Lord said he was going to wash Peter's feet, and he was like, no, don't wash my feet. Unless I wash your feet, you're not going to have any part with me. Unless I wash your sin, unless I bear that sin, unless I'm judging that sin, you're not going to have any part with me. Lord, I'm so ashamed of them. Cast them upon the Lord. Commit them to his cross where all of them were nailed. He nailed them to his cross.

This is what true faith and true trust is. Faith is not faith in me, it's faith in him. complete and total casting upon him. Every bad, evil, sinful work that I have ever committed before God and men, Lord, let me cast it on the Lord Jesus Christ for my own healing. for my own heart, cast it to Him. Every good work that I need to commit before God and men, but I can't in my sinful flesh, I'm gonna cast that on Him. Every work of righteousness that I need, I'm gonna have to look to Him for that. I'm gonna have to cast my all on Him.

The scripture says, Abraham believed God. The father of the faithful was just so unfaithful, unfaithful to God, unfaithful to his wife, unfaithful, unfaithful, unfaithful, unfaithful, unfaithful. That's Abraham. Abraham believed God and it was counted to him for righteousness.

When we cast all of our lot in life upon him and cast all of our works upon him, there's peace, there's rest, there's hope. You cast it on him, you'll see it again. You need righteousness, cast it on him, you'll see that righteousness. You need forgiveness, you'll see that forgiveness. One more, go to 1 Peter 5, one more. Verse 6, 1 Peter 5 verse 6, it says, humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God that he may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon him for he careth for you.

Cast all your care. The word care means anxiety. That's what it means, anxiety. Cast all your worry. Anxiety is mental or emotional strain. That's what anxiety is. Mental or emotional strain. Cast all your mental and emotional strain on him. Cast it on him.

The story of Moses' birth. It was recorded in the scripture because it's a physical story that was given 100% for spiritual meaning. It's the reason anything is recorded in God's Word. You can take every possible component of that story and apply it to the spiritual condition of God's people. Moses' mother had this child. And the commandment went forth that the babies had to be cast into the river.

Don't you know she was overwhelmed by her lot in life? All right, think about that woman. Think about her lot in life. Don't you know she was fearful over the works that she was about to do or not do? What am I going to do? What am I going to not do? Can you imagine the anxiety? But unknowingly to her, she cast her all on the waters and the Lord revealed his goodness to her in the end. He brought his, just cast it on the water.

Good will be seen in the end. You take your burden to the Lord, you cast your bread upon him and he will show you his abundant goodness in it. He'll show you his goodness in it. Now that's a blessing. That is a true blessing for anything and everything concerning our lot in life, concerning all of our works, concerning all of our anxieties, everything. You cast it on him and he'll take care of it. and he will bring good back to you in it. Every time we cast our all on him, we'll find a blessing at the end of it, and that is a true statement. Every time we cast our all on him, we will find a blessing at the end of it. Lord, cause us to do that. It really calls us to do that, calls us to believe that and trust that truly. Calls us to trust it truly. I pray he will. All right.
