This sermon centers on the doctrine of blood atonement, drawing primarily from Leviticus 17:11 to illustrate that salvation is achieved exclusively through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. It emphasizes two vital lessons: first, that Christ is the only way to salvation and any other path constitutes idolatry; second, that His sacrifice provides particular redemption for all God's elect across both testaments. The preacher stresses that Christ's work on the cross was a finished act, requiring no human works or additional contributions for forgiveness. By contrasting the Old Testament sacrificial system with the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus, the message highlights how His blood satisfies divine justice and secures eternal remission of sins. The tone is pastoral and celebratory, urging believers to rest completely in the sufficiency of Christ's finished work rather than their own efforts.

Open your Bibles, if you would, to the book of Leviticus chapter 17. Leviticus chapter 17. We'll read one verse, which is verse 11. The name of the message is blood atonement. Blood atonement. Oh, it's wonderful. It's wonderful. The Lord Jesus Christ shed his blood to redeem his people from all their sins Leviticus 17 11 the scripture declares for the life of the flesh is in the blood and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls For it is the blood that make it atonement for the soul. Look at that. Isn't that wonderful? Oh my Look at that. Note these wonderful words speaking of the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, which was typified in the Old Testament.

It is the blood that makes atonement. Oh my, it's the blood of Christ that makes atonement for our sins, beloved, that cleanses us from all unrighteousness. It's absolutely incredible. Oh, and this verse 17, like all the rest of the inspired book in the Bible, is all about the gospel. all about the gospel, it's all about Christ. And there are two things revealed in this chapter.

There are lessons of tremendous importance for the Lord's people. which we must learn. We must learn them. Without the knowledge of these two things, we will never understand the book of God. We will never understand the gospel of God, and we will never understand the work of God. Therefore, these two lessons are vital.

Number one, Christ is the way. He is the only way to be saved. Oh my. Any worship except the worship of God through the blood atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ is idolatry. It's idolatry. Oh, it's the worship of devils. Any, any kind of worship without Christ, without the blood of Christ is idolatry.

My, the Lord Jesus Christ is the way of salvation for sinners. He is God's lamb provided for his people, provided for the salvation of the souls of those he chose in Christ before the foundation of the world. And so we go and tell the world, Christ died for sinners. There's just not many people who think they're sinners. But if you're a sinner, I got a message for you. Oh, I got a message for you. If God's shown you're a sinner, I got a message for you. The Lord Jesus Christ is the way of salvation for sinners. There's no other. Christ is the truth, the way, the truth, and the life. Oh, Christ is the life. There's no other life except through the Lord Jesus Christ. And Christ is the door. There's no other way to heaven. There's no other way to heaven. My, oh, my.

And all who attempt to come to God in some other way, whether they be their good works, or anything, they're thieves and robbers, beloved. They're thieves and robbers. Thieves who would rob God of all his glory. That's what people who think they can save themselves, they're robbing God of all the glory, because salvation's only by the Lord. Only by the Lord. My, they'd rob God of his glory, and you know what? God will not tolerate them. God will not tolerate them.

After giving the law regarding the day of atonement, the Lord gave commandment to the children of Israel, requiring that they bring their sacrifices, which we see right here, requiring them to the door of the tabernacle for the life of the flesh is in the blood. And I've given it you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that make it atonement for your soul, for the soul. Leviticus 17 11. They offer sacrifices nowhere except at God's altar. Nowhere except at God's altar. It was commanded.

That which is required every Israelite to observe and commanded. He required every stranger who sojourned among them also to observe the day of atonement. And any who refused to do so were cut off from among the people of Israel. cut off from among the people of Israel, put out of the camp, banished. Now let us remember the context. The Lord had just finished declaring to Israel that they were to observe the Day of Atonement every year on the tenth day of the seventh month. This was made an everlasting statute. and everything required in this statute portrayed our Lord Jesus Christ.

In this great work of redemption, as the high priest made atonement for the holy sanctuary, the tabernacle of the congregation, the altar, himself, the priest, and for all the people of the congregation of Israel. This is the day of atonement. Oh, this is a picture of particular redemption. This day of atonement wasn't for the Egyptians. It wasn't for the Syrians. It wasn't for those who lived in Iraq. No. It was for the nation of Israel.

And it pictured God's limited atonement. Oh, that Christ died for his church, his people, those given to him in eternity by the Father. And they consist of Old Testament saints and New Testament saints. That's the church of God. Some people say, well, no, it's just the New Testament saints. No, it's not. No, it's all the elect of all the ages. That's the bride of Christ. That's the bride of Christ.

My This is a picture of particular redemption by the sin-toning blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Israel has been cleansed, made clean from all sin before him. 1 John 3, verse 5, and you know that he was manifest to take away our sins, and in him is no sin. So all those Old Testament sacrifices were picturing Christ, beloved. They couldn't take away sin. but they were pointing to the very one, the Messiah who's coming, the Lord Jesus Christ. And John said this again in 1 John 3, 5, and you know that he was manifested to take away our sins. Oh my. He was manifested to take away the sins of God's people.

And in him is no sin. He's sinless, he's perfect, he's spotless, he's the Lamb of God. And it's his shed blood. It's his precious blood, beloved, that cleanses us from all sin. Isn't that wonderful? The second lesson taught in this text is the blood atonement. As the Lord says, I have given, I have given it. What's he given? The blood. Given his own son. I've given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls.

The blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, beloved. was shed at Calvary's cross for one specific purpose, to make atonement for our sins, for the sins of all God's people, Old Testament and New Testament, all of them. Isn't that amazing? From when time began to when time will end. All God's people are saved by the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. That's why we call Him our Redeemer, because He redeemed us from all our sins. It's glorious. It's absolutely glorious. So again, the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ was shed in Calvary for one specific thing, to make atonement for our sins. Oh, it's glorious.

That is all that God required. You ever stop and think of that? That's all that God requires for the salvation of our souls. He doesn't require works from us. He doesn't require something we gotta do. All that God requires for the salvation of our souls is all wrapped up in Christ. It's all in Christ. It's all in Him. All that God requires for the salvation of our souls The precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ poured out upon that cursed tree, accomplished our salvation.

It's finished. It's finished means it's finished, doesn't it? When you say something's finished, it means there's nothing more for you to do. Christ said about our redemption, it is finished. See, we're so wired to do things We're so wired for works that people don't believe the words, it's finished. Surely there's something I gotta do. Surely there's something I gotta do. No, there's not. Look to Christ and rest in Him. And I'll tell you why. That's the hardest thing to do for a believer. It's already accomplished. The work is finished.

Christ's blood made atonement for his people, for our sins, just as the blood of the Passover lamb. Remember, in Egypt, they had to put the blood on the lentil on the door, just as that blood, just the blood of Christ, the blood of the Passover. God said, when I see the blood, I'll pass over you. When God sees the blood of Christ, he says, I'll pass over you.

All your sins are forgiven. Isn't that glorious? I'm past, present, and future. They're all finished. They've all been paid for. If you're a born-again, blood-washed believer, trust in Christ. My, my. It's not the blood of Christ and something else. You know what I tell you? Live your life and serve Christ. Just rest in Him each day. Trust Him for your eternal soul.

Trust when He said it's finished, that it's finished. That there's no more payment for my soul. There's no checklist that I gotta check off. It is finished. And we say, praise be to God for the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. It's wondrous. So it's not about the blood of Christ and something else. The word of God is very explicit. It attributes atonement. It attributes salvation exclusively by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Listen to this, Hebrews 9.22. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood. And without the shed in the blood, there's no remission. Without the shedding of blood, there's no remission for our sins, but praise be to God. Christ shed his blood. And blessed is the man and woman whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Isn't that wonderful? Hallelujah. My, it makes my heart sing. And then also in Hebrews 9, 26. And then he must often have suffered since the foundation of the world. But now once in the end of the world, this is speaking of Christ, hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Oh, hallelujah. What a wonder of salvation. Christ put away the sins of his people by the sacrifice of himself, by the shedding of his blood. Because without the shedding of blood, there's no remission for sin. But praise be to God. God incarnate, God in the flesh shed his blood for a people given to him by the father in eternity. And they shall be saved. Only in this way, only through the blood of Christ can God be a just God and a savior. a just God, fulfilling the law of God, fulfilling the justice of God, taking away the wrath of God that was against us, it fell upon Him instead of us. And only by the blood of Christ can He be the justifier of all His people. Praise the Lord, amen and amen.
