'Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.'

John's Gospel opens with these
tremendous words. In the beginning was the Word
and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The same was
in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him and
without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life and the life
was the light of men and the light shineth in darkness and
the darkness comprehended it not the light shineth in darkness
and the darkness comprehended it not this fact of the darkness
of this world and the light in Christ which shines in the darkness
permeates through the whole of this gospel we live in a world
of darkness and we are blind men by nature stumbling about
in the dark and all the wisdom and the knowledge and the history
and the thinking of men does nothing to dispel the darkness
especially the knowledge and the wisdom of men in religion. Many people say many things about
God and lead you as blind in the darkness. We need the light
to shine. We can see nothing except God
opens our eyes and shines in the light and it's in this darkness the
darkness of night the darkness of this natural world this fallen
world of sin that a man called Nicodemus comes unto Jesus John
goes on in chapter 3 to tell us. There was a man of the Pharisees
named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. The same came to Jesus
by night and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher
come from God, for no man can do these miracles that thou doest.
except God be with him. There was a man of the Pharisees
named Nicodemus, the ruler of the Jews. The same came to Jesus
by night. He was in the darkness. And yet, he was a Pharisee named
Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. Why was a ruler of the Jews,
a Pharisee, a religious man, one verse with the oracles of
God, the scriptures, in darkness? Because by wisdom, man knows
not God. We cannot see God. Even though
we may be steeped in religion, steeped in the scriptures, know
the scriptures inside out by nature we're blind and this man
was yet in the dark where are you? are you yet in the night? are your eyes still shut? the
same came to Jesus by night but the wonderful thing about Nicodemus
though he was in the darkness And though he came to Jesus by
night, is that he came to Jesus by night. There's no better place to go
than to where Jesus is. And there's no better one to
go to in the darkness, in the night, in your darkness, in your
night than to go to Jesus. Oh that God should draw you or
send you to Jesus. Yes Nicodemus was blind, yes
his knowledge and wisdom as a Pharisee and a ruler of the Jews had brought
him nowhere but there came a day, there came a time, there came
a night. when the Lord caused Nicodemus
to come to Jesus. Have you come to Jesus in the
night? Nicodemus said unto him, Rabbi,
we know that thou art a teacher come from God. For no man can
do these miracles that thou doest except God be with him. Jesus
answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except
a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How
can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second
time into his mother's womb and be born? Jesus answered, Verily,
verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of
the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which
is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the
Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee,
ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth,
and thou hearest the sound thereof. but can't not tell whence it
cometh and whither it goeth. So is everyone that is born of
the Spirit. Nicodemus answered and said unto
him, How can these things be? Jesus answered and said unto
him, Art thou a master of Israel? And knowest not these things.
Art thou a master of Israel? And no, it's not these things.
Does Jesus say unto you, my religious friend, art thou a master of
Israel? And no, it's not these things.
You say you know. You say you see. And yet what
do you know of the new birth? Verily verily I say unto thee
we speak that we do know and testify that we have seen and
ye receive not our witness. Truly we say unto you we speak
that we do know and we testify that which we have seen and ye
receive not our witness. Have you received? Christ preached
the truth, he sent forth his disciples to preach the truth,
the apostles went forth preaching the truth and all his preachers
to this day and age are sent forth with his truth and they
speak what they know and they testify what they've seen and
you receive not their witness. What do you? If I have told you earthly things
and ye believe not, how shall ye believe if I tell you of heavenly
things? And no man hath ascended up to
heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of
Man which is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent
in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal
life. You're in darkness. You're dead. You need to see the light. You need to live. How are you
who sit in darkness going to live? When your gaze is lifted
up to see the Son of Man, Jesus Christ, the light of the world
lifted up as the Saviour of sinners. Even so, must the Son of Man
be lifted up, like that brazen serpent that Moses lifted up
before the people in the wilderness, in which they had hope of healing. that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish but have eternal life. Where are you looking? For God so loved the world that
he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son
into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through
him might be saved. Why did Christ come? Why was
he crucified? Why was he lifted up? Why was
he slain? Why as the brazen serpent was
Christ lifted up upon a cross and crucified? That sinners might
behold a Saviour crucified for them. That they might see one
who would take their sins away and take away the darkness and
shine forth light. and to their souls. Take away
the condemnation and bring forth righteousness. For God sent not
His Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world
through Him might be saved. He that believeth on Him is not
condemned but he that believeth not is condemned already. because he have not believed
in the name of the only begotten Son of God and this is the condemnation
that light is come into the world and men loved darkness rather
than light because their deeds were evil For every one that
doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light,
lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh
to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they
are wrought in God. He that believeth not is condemned
already. Because ye have not believed
in the name of the only begotten Son of God. This is the condemnation
that light is coming to the world. And men love darkness rather
than light. What do you love? Honestly, what do you love? Do you love the light? Do you
love the light of God? Do you love the Lord Jesus Christ? Or do you love darkness? Because your deeds are evil.
Do you love the darkness of this world? Do you love the darkness
of this world's religion? Are you condemned? already he that believe if not is condemned
already are you condemned already do
you believe john here does not tell us that
our condemnation comes if we reject the savior He does not
tell us that when the Gospel is preached and we make a decision that we'll either be saved or
we'll be condemned and that the condemnation comes because we
have rejected rejected the appeal rejected the invitation failed
to accept He tells us that we are condemned already condemned already we already
love darkness before ever the light came into the world before
ever Christ came into the darkness those in the darkness loved the
darkness before ever he came they did not believe you're born
loving darkness you're born with deeds which are evil you're born
condemned already we're condemned already because of what we have
done and because as a result of what we have done that we
do not believe in Jesus Christ our ears are shut to him Our
hearts are closed to Him. The knowledge of Him never enters
our minds. We're disinterested, we're apathetic,
we do not care. For many, we hate. We do not believe in Christ,
we hate Him. We don't want him, we don't want
him disturbing the peace which we have in the darkness. We love
the darkness. We love the riches in the darkness. We love the pleasures of the
darkness. We love the power in the darkness. We love the pride in the darkness. We love the freedom in the darkness. And when the light shines in
the darkness like spiders and insects in the darkness we scuttle
off into the darkness and we turn our gaze. It's too dazzling
and we don't want it and we don't want that light exposing what
we are and what we've done. For everyone that doeth evil
hateth the light neither cometh to the light lest his deed should
be reproved. We know that in the light of
the gospel, before God, we cannot stand. We know we'll be found
wanting. We know, whatever we may say,
we know that we are guilty. And we hate the light. We are
condemned already. Condemned because of what we
have done. Condemned because of what our
ancestor Adam the first man did. And what we as men and women
did in him. God commanded him. God gave him
a simple command, you can eat of all the fruit of all the trees
in the garden except the fruit of the tree of the knowledge
of good and evil. And the one thing he was warned
not to do was the one thing he did. And every one of us, when
God commands us, when we know there is right and wrong, when
we know what we should do or what we shouldn't do, we do the
opposite. We've all done it from the day
we're born. We do it with God's commands,
we do it with the commands of our parents. If anyone tells
us not to do this, that's what we do. When Adam sinned, we sinned. And all of us sin in the same
fashion every day since Adam. When he died, we died. And when we sin, we die. What he did, we do. And what we do, he did. He was told, Eve was told, in
the day that thou eatest of that tree, thou shalt surely die. In the day that thou eatest thereof,
thou shalt surely die. And he ate, and he died. And you ate, and you died. And that's why you're in darkness.
And that's why you're guilty. Romans 5 tells us a little more
about this. Fifth chapter of Romans. Paul
contrasts that one act of Adam and all his posterity in him,
in which Adam and all mankind plunge themselves into sin, with
that one act of Christ upon the cross, and all his posterity
in him and how through his death he brought in everlasting life
and righteousness for all his people. Paul says in Romans 5
verse 12, wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world
and death by sin and so death passed upon all men for that
all have sinned and in brackets for until the law sin was in
the world but sin is not imputed when there is no law nevertheless
death reigned from adam to moses even over them that had not sinned
after the similitude of adam's transgression who is the figure
of him that was to come but not as the offense so also is the
free gift For if through the offence of one many be dead,
much more the grace of God and the gift by grace which is by
one man Jesus Christ have abounded unto many. And not as it was
by one that sinned, so is the gift. For the judgment was by
one to condemnation. but the free gift is of many
offences under justification. For if by one man's offence death
reigned by one, much more they which receive abundance of grace
and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one Jesus
Christ. Therefore, as by the offence
of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation, even so
by the righteousness of one. For by one righteousness, one
act of righteousness, the free gift came upon all men, unto
justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience
many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many
be made righteous. Moreover the law entered that
the offense might abound but where sin abounded grace did
much more abound. That as sin have reigned unto
death even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal
life by Jesus Christ our Lord. Now what Paul is showing us here
is that by Adam, through Adam, by one man, sin entered into
the world. And death by sin, the condemnation
came upon all of us from the moment that Adam sinned. And it's in all of us. When we're
born, we're born full of sin. And we're born full of death.
This is why the cells in our body are dying from the moment
we're born. This is why death exists in this
world. Death isn't natural. It's the
consequence of the sin and the fall of mankind. It's not natural. It's not how God made man. When
God made man he'd have lived and lived and lived. Death came
because of Adam's sin and you're going to die because of your
sin. Your natural death is because
of your sin. But there's a greater death that
entered into man because of his sin and that's spiritual death. The reason you can't see God,
the reason you can't comprehend the truth, the reason you love
sin, the reason you love the darkness is because spiritually
you are dead. you're dead in trespasses and
sins you're dead there comes a day when naturally you will
be dead you're dying naturally and the life in your flesh is
soon passing away and soon you will pass from this world into
the next but spiritually you're dead already and spiritually
you're condemned already you're not under probation You're not
coming to that day or that point where your decision or your act
will make the difference between condemnation or justification.
You're already condemned. That's the state you're in, that's
how bad it is. God's wrath already burns from
heaven against your sin and unrighteousness. But the great, the wonderful
truth of this Gospel which John sets forth and which Paul sets
forth here in Romans, is that though you are condemned already,
though we're all dead as a consequence of Adam's transgression and as
a consequence of our own transgression, though we're all condemned already,
though by one man sin entered the world and death by sin though
the condemnation is over us there is another man another man who
entered this world who through one act like Adam's one act brought
in righteousness brought in life brought in justification brought
in salvation by one act he took away the condemnation as by the
offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation
even so by one righteous act the free gift came upon all men
unto justification of life through Christ's death he made his people
righteous He took away the condemnation. He took away the judgment. He
took away the death. He took away sin. And he brought
in life. As God led you in the night unto
Jesus to see the One who took away the judgment. to see the
one who took away the condemnation. You see in Romans 5 how the law
made no difference. It came in by the by but it didn't
take away the sin and it didn't take away death. Adam fell when
he disobeyed God's command. Between Adam And Moses, there
was no law. But Paul makes it plain that
whilst there was no law, whilst people might not have had an
outward command against which they consciously rebelled, there was still sin in their
heart. And there was still the consequence of sin, death. And
there was still God. and there was still the light
of God made known in the creation so that all men are without excuse
as Paul makes plain in the early chapters in Romans and made known
in our own hearts and conscience where the work of the law is
written within even though there may not be any external law we
know that we are going against God whether we have a law or
not we know we know right from wrong and our hearts condemn
us because we're condemned already
there's no need of a law to condemn us you may say of those from
Adam to Moses why were they judged when they had no law Because
they were condemned already. The condemnation came when Adam
sinned and when they sinned. You may say of the Gentiles,
under whom Paul writes at Rome, they had no law. The Jews had
a law. The Jews knew what they should
do. And when they broke it, they knew they were guilty. But what
of the Gentiles who never knew the Scriptures? who never knew
this God that Nicodemus the Pharisee knew in word. They never heard of him. They
never heard of this law. How are they guilty? Because
they're condemned already. In their hearts they are sinners,
they're born sinners and death has passed upon them. They're
the natural generation from Adam. And we're all accountable to
that light which we are given. There is light in the creation. There is light in the heavens
above that says there is a God. And how this world shuts its
ears to this light. How it goes on with its nonsense
about big bangs and evolutions as a means for how this universe
came into being. It knows that this universe had
to be formed. It knows there was a beginning.
But desperate to negate the existence of God, these fools of scientists
come up with every means they can think of to find a way that
things came out of nothing without a creator beforehand. but this
is folly and if you follow it you're a fool because that in
the world around and that in the creation and that in the
stars and in the firmament is set there as light that all men
may see that light and know that light and be accountable to that
light and yet they love the darkness Secondly, God has sent forth
light in the heart of man, in his conscience within. Jew or
Gentile, religious or irreligious, we're made originally in the
image of God. And though we've fallen, there
is still that within our hearts which says there is a God. The
creature knows he has a creator to whom he's accountable. you
may love the darkness and love the wisdom of the darkness and
shut out all knowledge of religion from your mind but that within
you says there is a God and you know you're accountable to him
and you know the sin and the death within you is against him
the sins against him and the death is his judgment already
passed upon you you are condemned already And thirdly, God sends
forth his light in his scriptures and in his word. The Jews had
a law that said unto them, Thou shalt have no other gods before
me. There is only one true and living
God. We are to worship him. They had a law they knew. They
knew in word. And if you've ever heard the
scriptures or ever read the scriptures or ever heard the gospel preached,
you know, in word at least, Something of the light of God. And yet
we shut our ears because we love the darkness. Because our deeds
are evil. So we see this three-fold light. Light in the creation, light
in the heart and conscience and light in the Word of God. And
all these things condemn us as sinners. because we love the
darkness. And the law made no difference.
We're not condemned because of the law. That merely makes a
knowledge of what we have done known unto us, and of the sentence
already passed known unto us. But the law never prevented us
from sinning. It never prevented the Jews from
sinning, rather the opposite, it flares up the sin. When the
word of God comes, when the scriptures come, when the law comes, when
the command comes, rather than doing right, we do the opposite.
It fans the flames of sin within. And it brings forth the judgment
in greater voice and greater number. Our sin has already condemned
us to death. Indeed the law made nothing perfect. All the law ever did was bring
condemnation because it's the law itself that brought in the
death in the beginning. When you go to law it condemns
you and demands your death. and it's the law that Adam ate
of when he ate of the tree that he was commanded not to eat when
man fell God said don't eat of the fruit of the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil because the day you eat thereof thou
shalt surely die the day you try to live by law it will condemn
you the day you eat of that tree it will condemn you and Adam
ate and sin entered and death by sin. We were told not to eat
of the law for it will slay us and Adam learnt the hard fact. that he has no ability to live
as God would have him live except God causes him to live and yet
he went to law to do it in his own strength and it slew him
and oh how religious people ever since who love the darkness keep
going back to law or laws keep going back to works of their
own righteousness, thinking that they can get to God by something
they do, when all they do is eat. And in the day that they
eat, they die. They strive and they fail and
they're condemned. But the condemnation that they
fall under is a condemnation which came in, when Adam before
them did the same thing, and ate of the same tree, and ate
of the same fruit, and sin entered, and death by sin. He ate of the
law and died. The law is a killing letter,
a ministration of death. As Paul is at pains to point
out, and yet the fools in religion keep on returning back to law. because this is the condemnation
that light is coming to the world and men love darkness rather
than light because their deeds were evil. So many in religion
speak of coming to Christ, coming to the light, receiving the gospel,
receiving his salvation and then going back to the law for their
sanctification. Because they love the darkness.
Because their deeds are evil. Because they've never truly had
the eyes opened to know that that law will slay them. We need to eat, not of the tree
of the knowledge of good and evil, but of the tree of life. If Adam had eaten of the tree
of life, he'd have had no need. the tree of the knowledge of
good and evil where are you eating from which tree what do you love we're condemned already which
is why christ in this chapter in john says unto nicodemus that
except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of god
because you're already condemned and the old man Adam can't be
forgiven, he can't be changed. In your flesh you're condemned,
you're dead. You need to live again. It's
not about what you do, it's not about some decision you make,
it's not about some works you do, you're a walking corpse,
you need to live again. Nicodemus, your knowledge as
a Pharisee has done nothing to change you. Your position as
a ruler of the Jews has left you in darkness. Art thou a master
of Israel and knowest not these things? If I have told you earthly
things and ye believe not, how shall ye believe if I tell you
of heavenly things? You can know everything in the
Scriptures, Nicodemus. But you're blind, you're in darkness
and you're dead. You're condemned already. You've
got to live again. You need to be born again. You need a new life. except a
man be born of water and of the spirit he cannot enter into the
kingdom of God it's closed to him it's shut because he's dead see that's the context that's
why John goes on to speak about this condemnation because that's
why you need to be born again If the condemnation had not already
come upon you, if you were as Adam was in some sort of innocent
state, some sort of probation, then the truth could come before
you and you could make a decision for it or against it. You could
receive Christ or reject Christ and it's at that point that your
destiny would be decided. But it's not, you're already
condemned. Which is why you need to be born
again. This is what gives the lie to
the false notion of a universal redemption. Most of religion
that passes for Christendom, most corruptions of Christianity,
whether it's Arminian or a great deal of what is called reformed
theology, preaches this notion that Christ died and took the
sins of all men. even the elect, even the wicked,
all men. And that the only thing that
ultimately determines whether they are saved or not saved is
their ultimate belief in Jesus. Supposedly Christ's atonement
is sufficient for all the world but only applied unto those that
receive him. But if that's true then the condemnation
has not come already. because the condemnation, your
ultimate destination is decided upon your reaction to the gospel. If Christ has already paid your
sins whether you're saved or not, then the only thing that
determines whether you're saved is your decision. And that effectively
is what most Arminians believe and what most so-called Calvinists
believe with their free offer gospel. They have a universal
redemption where Christ has effectively blotted out the sins of all men.
But it's just whether you receive it or not. But that's a lie and
undermines what John says here that we are condemned already. And that we need to be born again.
We need a new life. There is nothing which can be
done about the old man. The old man is dead and will
not receive Christ. He cannot see Christ, he does
not love Christ, he's in darkness. He cannot improve himself, he
cannot bring forth any works of righteousness to make himself
acceptable unto God and he will never make a decision to believe
in God. His will is set against God. John says again in his first
chapter There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the light
that all men through him might believe. He was not that light,
but was sent to bear witness of that light. That was the true
light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He
was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world
knew him not. He came unto his own, and his
own received him not, despite all their knowledge. They received
him not. But as many as received him,
to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them
that believe on his name, which were born not of blood, nor of
the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Who received him and who were
born again? Who received him and who believed? Those who were born again, not
of their will, but of God's. Not of the will of man, not of
the will of the flesh, but of God. God chose a people and he
said you will be born, you will be born again. And He caused
them by His mighty Spirit to be born again. And being born
again, when the Saviour, when the light came unto them in the
darkness, they received Him and believed Him. And He gave them
the power to become the sons of God. You must be born again. There's nothing you can do to
cause yourself to be born again, same as there's nothing you could
do to cause yourself to be born in the first place. you had no
part to play when you were born naturally it came as a consequence
of your mother and your father it was outside of yourself you're
the consequence of it and you're not involved in your new birth
God causes you to be born again your father your heavenly father
says you will be born the old man in Adam condemned
already we need to be born again nothing can improve the flesh
naturally in Adam we're condemned already nothing will lift that
condemnation off of the old man's head we must be born again we
must have a new life a new beginning a new nature for in Adam we are
condemned already but in Christ in Christ if we are in Christ
then in Christ we are forgiven already we are justified already
we are sanctified already if we're in Christ then before Adam
fell before the old man was condemned before the condemnation entered
the world if we're in Christ then we are saved already we
live already there's no condemnation we've been delivered For whom
he did foreknow, he also did predestinate, to be conformed
to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among
many brethren. Moreover, whom he did predestinate,
them he also called, and whom he called, them he also justified,
and whom he justified, them he also glorified. It's all been
done if you're in Christ. because he took a people, he
chose a people before ever they were born of Adam and he said
these are mine and these I will save and these I will justify
and I will bring them to be born of my spirit These are a people
who I will bring forth. They may be brought forth in
the same carcasses of flesh and walk in this world in the same
bodies that they were born in Adam but ultimately they are
born of God. Already forgiven, already justified,
already righteous, already without condemnation. there's two men
the condemnation is upon the head of us in Adam and the justification
is upon the head of us in Christ which is why Paul in chapter
8 of Romans immediately goes on to say then what shall we
say then to these things if God be for us who can be against
us He that spared not his own son, but delivered him up for
us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is
God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It
is Christ that died, yea, rather that is risen again, who is even
at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for
us. Who shall separate us? from the
love of Christ nothing there's no condemnation in Christ there
never was condemnation in Christ if you're in Christ my friend
you never were condemned you're already condemned in Adam but
in Christ there's no condemnation there never was condemnation
you were perfect from the beginning in him which is why we must be
born again Because we must have his life. There's nothing that
can be done about our old life, our old man. But in Christ, we've
always been perfect. Always. Always. And why are we born again? As
a consequence. Because of what he did at the
cross for that people whom he chose. Because of what he did. not anything that we did but
because of what he did he chose a people and he said though they
are condemned in Adam already in me they will live forever
and he came and he took what they were in Adam and he took
it all away that all the condemnation might go and they might stand
in him righteous and delivered and alive forever what did we
do We sinned. What did sin bring forth? Death. What did Christ do? Nothing but
righteousness. And what did his righteousness
bring forth? Everlasting life. What did Christ
do? He came into this world to save
sinners. he took away their sin, he took
away their sins and in righteous judgment he put his head underneath
the block, he put his head upon the block underneath the sword
of God's justice and God judged those sins in righteousness.
That we in him if we are in him might have everlasting life everlasting
life though we who were dead in adam might once more live
in christ that we who were dead might live for as in adam all
die even so in christ shall all be made alive all those in christ
shall be made alive. Now you are in Adam, and in Adam
you have died. In Adam you are condemned already,
but are you also in Christ? And in him shall you be made
alive. In Adam you're in the darkness
and you love the darkness because your deeds are evil. But are
you in Christ and do you love the light? Have you come to the
light? And has he delivered you from the darkness? Nicodemus
came to Christ in the night. Have you been brought to come
to Christ? If you haven't you'll perish
in the darkness. But if God by grace, by his Spirit,
draw you to the one who like the serpent was lifted up, like
that brazen serpent if he draws you to the one who was lifted
up, draws you to the foot of the cross, draws you to behold
the saviour, draws you to behold a crucified saviour, draws you
to behold a risen saviour. draws you to behold the One who
is the Light, who shines forth in the darkness, who sits and
reigns in glory, preaching His Gospel today. If He draws you
to behold Him, if He in glory preaches unto you this day and
declares unto you His salvation, if you in the depths of darkness
in the grave should hear the voice of the Son of God, then
you will live. You will live. Have you heard
his voice? Have you seen his light? For he that doeth truth cometh
to the light that his deeds may be made manifest that they are
wrought in God. Have you been brought to the
light? Do you believe that Jesus Christ
is the Son of God? that he loved his people from
before the foundation of this earth? Did he set his love upon
you? Did he set his love upon you?
Did it take him to the cross for you? Did he suffer and die
for you? Or was he plunged into darkness
that he might bring you out of the darkness and into light?
Did he do this for you? Have you been brought to see
that he went to the cross For sinners like you, did he go to
the cross for you? Was your name written upon his
heart? Have you been brought to believe? For he that believeth on him
is not condemned. As in Adam all die, so in Christ,
in Christ. If you're in Christ, all live. Praise God.

Pristine Grace functions as a digital library of preaching and teaching from many different men and ministries. I maintain a broad collection for research, study, and listening, and the presence of any preacher or message here should not be taken as a blanket endorsement of every doctrinal position expressed.
I publish my own convictions openly and without hesitation throughout this site and in my own preaching and writing. This archive is not a denominational clearinghouse. My aim in maintaining it is to preserve historic and contemporary preaching, encourage careful study, and above all direct readers and listeners to the person and work of Christ.
