Why is Christ's sacrifice necessary for salvation?

Answered in 6 sources

Christ's sacrifice is necessary because He is the only one who can take away the sins of those who are condemned already (Romans 5:18).

The sacrifice of Christ on the cross is essential because it addresses the penalty of sin which we owe as a result of the fall of Adam. Romans 5:18 contrasts the act of one man, Adam, who brought condemnation to all, with the act of Christ, which brings justification to many. By bearing our sins and suffering the punishment in our place, Christ ensures that the condemnation that rests upon us is removed for those who believe in Him. His blood provides the only means by which we can be made righteous and thus saved from our already condemned state.
