If you will turn with me to Exodus
chapter 4, I want to read several verses to you here before we
get into the message. Beginning with verse 10, And Moses said unto the Lord,
O my Lord, I am not eloquent. neither heretofore nor since
thou hast spoken unto thy servant. But I am slow of speech and slow
of tongue. And the Lord said unto him, Who
hath made man's mouth? Or who maketh the dumb, or deaf,
or the seeing, or the blind? Have not I the Lord? Now therefore go, and I will
be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. And he, that is Moses, said,
O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou
wilt send. And the anger of the Lord was
kindled against Moses. And he said, Is not Aaron a Levite
thy brother? I know that he can speak well.
And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee. When he seeth thee,
he'll be glad in his heart. And thou shalt speak unto him,
and put words in his mouth. And I'll be with thy mouth, and
with his mouth, and will teach you what you shall do. And he
shall be thy spokesman unto the people. And thou shalt be, even
he shall be to thee instead of a man. And thou shalt be to him
instead of God. Now last week we talked about
the two signs that God gave to Moses. He first told Moses when
he began to backpedal about going down into Egypt. He said, what's
that in your hand? And he said, it's a rod. He said,
cast it down. It's not just a rod. I'm going
to show you what this rod is all about. This rod had a story
behind it. It had a purpose behind it. And
he showed him what that rod was. And that rod being cast down
symbolizes the casting down of the rod by Adam. He's talking
about this authority and power of God. Adam cast it down on
the ground. And when he did, it took upon
itself a satanic form. It turned into a serpent. Now,
that's significant. And also concerning this thing
of the casting down of the rod, and I think it's important to
point out here that even in its satanic form, it was still the
rod of God. It didn't change ownership. It's
still His rod. Have you ever read that passage
over in Jude where I think it's Michael the archangel when contending
over the body of Moses, he said he dares not bring railing accusation
against Satan. Why not? Why not? He's disputing with him. Why
not bring a railing accusation? Because God gave him that authority
that he had. That's right. And he recognized that and he
said the Lord rebuked him. The Lord. The Lord who gave you
that authority Let Him rebuke you. Whatever power Satan has, he
has because God gave it to him. I want you to hear me. The Antichrist
religion of our day has Satan on the one side holding everybody
in captivity and bondage, God on the other side desiring that
everybody should be set free. and the church in the middle
trying to help God out. I hope I haven't oversimplified
that, but I believe that's what most people think. They think
Satan's over here dragging them this way, and God's over here
trying to drag them this way, and the church's over here helping
God. All they can. And that's all they talk about.
They go on and on and on talking about that. But brethren, if
you read this book, you'll find out something different. You'll
find out the devil's God's devil. God's sovereign. He's omnipotent.
Nothing comes to pass apart from His decree. Nothing. Not Satan,
not anything. Old Job was back there and the
Lord said to the devil, has thou considered my servant Job? Well,
yeah, but he said, you built a hedge about him. He said, take
that hedge down and I'll show you. But he had to have God's
permission before he did anything to Job. You see what I'm saying? It's his devil. It's God's devil. And the devil can't do anything
that God doesn't let him do. In Romans chapter 5, I want you
to see this. Romans chapter 5 and verse 12. It says, By one man sin entered
into the world. Romans chapter 5 verse 12. By one man, talking about Adam.
Sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed. What's he talking about there,
past? He's talking about a legal judgment. What is he talking
about? Past. On all men. What's the evidence
of it? They all sinned. They've all
sinned. When Adam sinned, the holy God
of glory brought upon him the judgment of death. And not only
upon him, but being a judgment of his very nature, judged all
his posterity in him. You can read 1 Corinthians chapter
15. It says the same thing. As in Adam, all die. That's what
it says. They're all dead. They're all
sinners in Adam. In Romans, read all the way through
the book of Romans and you'll just keep seeing this. God in
Romans chapter 5 deals with two men. He deals with Adam. He deals
with Christ. Because they're both federal
heads. They both represent a people. In Romans chapter 5, but here's
the point I want you to see tonight. In Romans 5 verse 18 it says,
As by the offense of one, what's that word? Judgment. Ain't that what that says? Judgment
came upon all men to condemnation. They didn't become sinners by
accident. They become sinners because that's
what they were in Adam. And that judgment of God passed
on them. And Satan has that authority
over them. The children of Israel. Here's
the picture back in the Old Testament. The children of Israel are in
bondage down in Egypt. How'd they get there? By accident? They're in bondage down in Egypt
by the decree of God. You go all the way back to Genesis
chapter 15 when God made His covenant with Abraham and He
told Abraham exactly what was going to happen. All your children,
all your children's children, and their children, and so on,
they're going to be down in Egypt and they're going to be down
there 400 years in bondage. And they're going to be treated
cruelly. And at the end of that time, I'm going to come down
and set them free. That's what God said. And they kicked and
squirmed and begged and prayed and done everything they knew
to do and they still stayed in that bondage by the decree of
God. Sinners remain sinners because
the judgment of God is on them. And they're not coming out. They're
not coming out until God's justice is satisfied. They're not coming
out. They can't come out. You can
beg them. You go down here to prison and beg all day long.
Talk, reason, argue, whatever you want to do. Try to convince
that man of his wrongdoing. And when you get him all convinced
and you get him ready to go, he can't go nowhere until justice
is satisfied. Then they'll open the door and
he can come out. Same thing with the sinner. By the offense of one, judgment
came upon all men to condemnation. When Adam sinned, the holy God
of glory brought upon him the judgment of death. And not only
upon him, but it passed on all his posterity. And the conclusion
of the matter is found over there in Romans 5.21, sin reigns unto
death. If God doesn't intervene, if God doesn't intervene, it's
going to reign unto death. It's the judgment of God that
binds men and women under the power and deceit of Satan. And
as the fallen angels, he said, they're kept. Those fallen angels which kept
not their first estate, they're held in chains of darkness. That's deceit is what that is.
Deceit. And so in Colossians 1, verse
12, Paul gives thanks unto the Father who hath made us meet
to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light who hath
delivered us," now listen, "...from the power of darkness." Ain't
that what that says? The power of darkness. And that's
the only way you're going to get out of it. The only way.
Satan's kingdom is the kingdom of the damned. And Satan's power
is over those who are under the condemnation of God. Our Lord
said, here's the condemnation. He said, I didn't come into the
world to judge the world. The world's already judged. And
this is the condemnation. Light has come into the world
and men love darkness rather than light. Why? Because they're
under that power of darkness. And they stay under that darkness.
They can't come out from under that darkness. And perfect light
stands before them and they won't approach that light. They approach
that light, their deeds are evil, it exposes the evil and they
run from the light. His kingdom is the kingdom of
the damned. And it's condemnation that light
came into the world. Nobody's coming out of the prison
house of sin that is not redeemed by the righteousness and shed
blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. That's the only way you're going
to come out. He took the rod out of the hand of Satan and
by virtue of his accomplishments established the rod of his righteous
domain. He bought the right to call his
people out of darkness. He bought the right. That's what
I'm trying to tell you. The gospel comes in the power
of God's spirit because he who holds the scepter, just like
back in the book, put that scepter over toward her, showed her favor.
The gospel comes in the power of God's spirit because he that
holds the scepter has enabled God to be propitious. What does
that mean? That means He made, it enabled
God by that sacrifice of Christ, by that righteous obedience of
Christ, it enabled God to show mercy without compromising His
glory. That's what that means. No man
can come to Me. Listen to the Scripture. No man,
He said, can come. Don't murmur. Don't murmur. He
said, no man can come unto me except my father draw him, fetch
him, just like he did Barabbas. Barabbas couldn't come out of
that prison house, but another was chosen to die in his place. And then Barabbas couldn't stay
in the prison house. They come down and said, get
out of here. What do you mean? You're free to go. Another died. been chosen to die in your stead. The rod we hold in our hand is
a rod taken up by faith. He told Moses, now, you can think
what you want to, but I'm telling you this, that shepherd's staff
was about, they said, anywhere from five to seven feet long.
When he threw that thing down, it become a serpent. It didn't
become a green snake. That thing was a cobra. Big ol'
king cobra, about seven, eight feet long. And he told Moses,
he said, pick it up by the tail. Huh? Now Moses was a, he was
a pretty brave man. He'd fight in the New York minute. But I'm gonna tell you this.
He was thinking about grabbing that snake by the head. And God
didn't tell him, grab it by the head. He said, grab it by the
tail. Grab it by the tail. That rod was already restored
in the hands of Christ. And by faith, Moses could take
that serpent by the tail. That's the only way he could.
He whose hand is invisible holds Satan's head. Not your hand. We take it up by faith. And then that leprous hand. He
said, stick that hand in your bosom. And he did. He pulled
it back out and it was covered with leprosy. Everything comes
out of our heart. It's out of the heart. Proceed
evil thoughts, adultery, fornication, all them things. It comes out
from the heart. Now what in the world's going
on here? God's talking to Moses and Moses
is backpedaling and God shows him signs, great signs, and tells
him, I'm going... That ought to have been enough
right up front when God said, I'm going with you. That would
have been enough for me, wasn't it for you? I'm going with you. Okay. Okay. But that ain't how
it happens. We backpedal and doubt. We doubt
everything God says. Sure we do. I'm surprised. I know it's of a gracious heart
that they write that way, but the old writers, they write about
Moses and really cover up what's just plain old doubt and unbelief
is what it is. And what's going on here in Exodus
chapter 4, is God is establishing the way of deliverance. And He
does it in a way that we can understand it. He does it in
a way that communicates it to us. You get over in the New Testament,
and I can show you very clearly over there doctrinally. I can
teach it like you teach mathematics. I can go over there and show
it to you in the New Testament, and you can look at it, but you're
not going to understand it. But over here is the pictures.
And in these pictures and types and symbolic language, we see
exactly this deliverance and this way of deliverance being
established. And we see it in great detail.
Symbolically, God's laying the foundation of all that Christ
will come and do. And that's what I read to you
a while ago. He told those Pharisees who bragged on being followers
of Moses, and honoring to Moses. And they held Moses in high esteem. He said, you don't know Moses.
You don't know anything about Moses. If you'd believe Moses,
you'd believe me, because he wrote of me. Same thing about
Abraham. Here old Moses, he's filled with
doubt and unbelief, and he continues to make excuses to God. And he
tells the Lord in verse 13, basically, sin whoever you want, but not
me. That's what he's talking about there. Send who you want. Send by the hand that you have
seen. But leave me out of it." And the anger of the Lord was
kindled against Moses. And then he said what he said
there about his brother Aaron. Now God's not subject to fits
of passion like we are. You read there about God's anger
being kindled. He's not subject to fits of passion. Whenever God exhibits anger or
talks about anger, talks about things like that, there's a purpose
behind it. He's teaching us something. He's
telling us something. Nothing's hidden from God. God
knows all things. He's everywhere present. Nothing
sneaks up on God. It ain't like me. I don't know
all the facts sometimes. Somebody comes in, pow, hits
me right between the eyes or something, man, I fly off the
handle. I don't know what's going on. Wasn't expecting it. Wasn't
prepared. That's not God. God prepared for what He knows.
Ain't nothing going to happen that He hadn't decreed. The anger of the Lord was kindled
against Moses. But God's not subject to these
fits of passion. And this anger here simply means
that God was not pleased with his petty excuses. Now listen to how I read to you
a few minutes ago how God answered him about his petty excuses about
his mouth and slow of speech. And God said, who made the mouth? We need to remember who we're
talking to. You know, over there, it says,
keep thy foot when thou enterest into the house of the Lord, and
be more ready to hear than to offer the sacrifice of fools,
for they consider not that they do evil. A fool is known by as
much speaking. We come in here and start making
all kinds of excuses to God. Be careful. Be careful. Just
slow up, get a deep breath, and think about who it is you're
talking to. This is the Lord. He said, I made the mouth. I
can make it speak or I can shut it up and make it dumb. I can
make them eyes see or I can make them blind. That's what he told
him. Moses can't see the glory of
God who's calling him because he has his eye in the wrong direction. He has his eye on himself. He
has his eye on himself. God knew how Moses would react.
God's in full control as He is in all things. But He does not
restrain Moses from saying these things. God chooses rather to
let him go on and say it, to expose himself and to expose
these weaknesses and infirmities. And God's displeasure here was
for a purpose, and that purpose was to set a precedence for all
gospel preaching. Now, three things take place
as a result of Moses' doubt and weakness. And that's what I want
to talk to you about tonight. And here's the first thing and
the most important thing that's going on here. First of all,
God appoints because He exposed Himself. He exposed His weakness.
He exposed His unbelief. He exposed His doubts. He exposed
all them things. Well, what did God do about it?
How did He show this displeasure toward Moses? How did He turn
that around? This anger of the Lord was not to separate Moses
or whack His head off. He didn't change anything that
He intended to do with Moses. But He's going to teach Moses
something. He's going to teach him something. And the first
thing is this, he appoints for him a priest.
That's what he does. He separates Moses from the priesthood. He separates it from him. God separates his ambassador
from the office of a priest. Turn with me to 1 Chronicles.
Everybody know where that is? These are the Chronicles of the
Kings. You've got the books of Samuel, the books of Kings, and
then the book of Chronicles. 1 Chronicles chapter 23. Now this
is basically just a genealogy here, but it makes a statement
that you need to see. God takes this priesthood away
from Moses and He gives it to Aaron, his elder brother. 1 Chronicles
23 verse 13. He's recognizing here the two
sons of Amram, Aaron and Moses. And Aaron was separated that
he should sanctify the most holy things. You see that? God separated
him from Moses. That he should sanctify the most
holy things, he and his sons, forever. to burn incense before
the Lord, to minister unto Him, and to bless in His name forever. Amen. Without the work of the
priest, the prophet's words cannot be understood. Isn't that what
Moses said? I'm not eloquent. I can't talk.
They're not going to understand me. They're not going to believe
me. God said, I'm going to give you. I'm going to take care of
that. I'm going to take care of that.
And he appointed for him a priest. God typifies this in the weakness
and infirmity of Moses who had some sort of impediment or a
slowness of speech. Turn with me over to I Corinthians
chapter 2. I want to make an application
here. To me, these things are just
so clear because I look at them and study them all day long and
I'm just not sure how much. I'm sorry if I labor over these
things and give you too much or not enough. It's just difficult
for me to tell. But everything Moses had to say,
he said through Aaron the high priest. Now in the light of that,
his infirmities to speak, he couldn't speak. Afraid he wasn't
going to be understood. He couldn't go down there for
God. He couldn't be an ambassador for God and all this kind of
stuff. Now in the light of that and those infirmities and the
priesthood of Aaron, listen to what Paul tells the Corinthians
here. 1 Corinthians chapter 2 Verse 1, And I, brethren, when I came
unto you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring
unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know
anything among you save Jesus Christ and Him crucified. That's the work of the priest.
You see what he said? I've got nothing to say, Paul
said, except the priest and the work that the priest has accomplished.
That's what I'm wanting you to see. And he said, I determined
not to know anything, and I was with you in weakness and in fear
and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching
was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration
of the spirit. What's that mean? That is the
Spirit demonstrating through the Gospel how God saves sinners. That's what that's talking about.
The Spirit of the living God is the revealer of the Word of
God, of the Gospel of God. When he talks about the demonstration
of the Spirit, he's talking about through the preaching of the
Gospel how the Spirit makes known to you how God saves sinners. That's what he's talking about.
Demonstration of the Spirit and in power. power to enlighten,
power to make submissive, power to convince and convert. Our
Lord said to Nicodemus, a master theologian, the Lord looked at
him and He said, except you be born again, you cannot perceive
the Kingdom of God. You can't even begin to understand
what the Kingdom of God is. This whole generation got the
Kingdom of God having Gates of pearl and streets of gold and
all this kind of stuff. And you look at their artwork
and stuff and expressions of what the kingdom of God is the
rule of Christ. That's what the kingdom of God
is. And everywhere where you find it in the New Testament,
that's what it's talking about. The rule of Christ. His kingdom. His righteous rule. Paul said,
I said these things this way that your faith should not stand
in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. And that's
what's going on here with Moses. He's going to send Moses down
there. And when this thing's said and done, ain't anybody
going to say, yay, Moses. They're going to say, glory to
God. Glory to God. Because he takes
Moses out of the picture. Takes Moses out. Everything God
intends to make known to Israel, to deliver them out from under
the bondage of Egypt will be preached and received by virtue
of God's high priest. Let me give you just a couple
of references concerning this in the New Testament. I'm going
to show you here. What in the world? I'm telling
you that God is establishing His way of deliverance, and He's
setting a precedent here for all gospel preaching. He's revealing
something to us here. I've got nothing to say, Winston,
except what Christ has done. The work of the priest is going
to take preeminence now over me because of this weakness of
this flesh. Listen to this, Acts 10, verse
43. I'm going to read these to you
real quick. To Him give all the prophets
witness that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall
receive remission of sins." Acts 13.38, Be it known unto you therefore,
men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you
the forgiveness of sins, and by him all that believe are justified
from all things from which you could not be justified by the
law of Moses. And then in Acts 17.2, Paul,
as his manner was, went into them, and three Sabbath days
reasoned with them out of the Scriptures, opening and alleging
that Christ must needs have suffered and risen from the dead, and
that this Jesus whom he prayed is Christ. You see what I'm saying?
He got nothing to say except Christ. It's just nonsense today when
you hear men and women standing up and begging men to reform
their life and turn their life around and making promises that
God didn't promise, telling them they're going to please God and
God's going to come down and walk with them and show them
favor. That ain't going to happen. I'll tell you how this deliverance
is going to happen. When somebody comes down there
with a message of God and preaches Christ and Him crucified, you
believe on Him and God will set you free. In Luke chapter 24,
all the disciples was there. Christ rose from the dead, appeared
to His disciples, Luke 24, 44, and He said unto them, These
are the words which I spake unto you while I was yet with you,
that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law
of Moses and in the Prophets and in the Psalms concerning
Me. Then opened He their understanding
that they might understand the Scripture. And He said unto them,
thus it is written, and thus it behoove Christ to suffer and
rise from the dead the third day, that repentance and remissions
of sins should be preached in His name among all nations. It's necessary. It's necessary. There's nothing else to preach
besides that. Preacher, I get it. Let's go
on to something else. No, you don't get it. If you
got it, you wouldn't be wanting to move on to something else.
You just don't see the glory in what's here. All the glory
is in Christ. The glory is in the priesthood.
The message of deliverance is declared and received through
the priest and the work he's given to accomplish. So that's
the first thing God does. He brings about this thing and
he makes known to Moses that he's appointed a priest. Now
his priesthood and his title and all these things will be
given along the way, but God's establishing this thing right
up front. All right, here's the second thing I see. God left
Moses in his infirmities. He didn't fix his mouth. He left
his mouth just like it was. Left it just like it was. In 2 Corinthians 12, 7, listen
to this. There's just a line here between
Paul and Moses. Listen to this. Paul said, lest
I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the
revelation, that was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger
of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. Paul prayed for it three times,
and God said, my grace is sufficient. And he left him with that infirmity.
He gave him that infirmity, just as he gave Moses his. This messenger
of Satan was given to him for his good and also for the good
of them he preached to. God left Moses with his infirmities,
not as a judgment against him, but to enable him to do what
God was sending him to do. I'm telling you, it's so easy
for a minister or an elder in a church to get puffed up. Any
little thing. Somebody comes along and brags
on you and says this and says that. Man, you just, you puffed
up. And you know what's wrong. You
know what's wrong when you do it. And you hang your head down. I don't know of anything that
I've battled with any more than that because people write me
over the messages I preach on the internet and different things
and articles that I write and they'll write and tell me this
and tell me how thankful they are and how much they enjoyed
it and all that. Boy, it don't take anything.
One good thing, man, you just, and then you come back down and
you realize. It's just so easy for a minister
or an elder in the church to get puffed up. God gives him
a revelation of His glory, and the next thing you know, he's
claiming a copyright on it. Paul said this, he said, what
have you gotten that you haven't received? You got anything God
didn't give you? Then why do you act like you
didn't get it that way? Why do you act like you earned
it? Listen to these people talking about self-made men. God allowed
Moses to expose his weakness to establish his way of deliverance.
And he does that with every preacher. He does it. He'll bring you down.
I love old Kent Clark said one time, he said, you're going to
lose that strut before you get the glory. And you are. purposely leaves His servant
with his impurities for both his good and the good of them
that he was to minister to. And then the third thing God
does is He takes all the glory off the head of the prophet and
puts it on the head of the priest. It will be Aaron who wears the
mitre and the linen garments. It will be Aaron who wears the
names of the children of Israel over his heart. and on His shoulder. It will be Aaron who goes in
beyond the veil. And it's the priesthood that
takes preeminence in Israel, and it stays that way until the
coming of Christ. The priesthood. Listen to the
words of Paul to the Galatians. We're talking about this glory
now. The glory. And when I'm talking
about the priesthood of Aaron, I'm talking about Christ. You
understand that? In Galatians chapter 6 verse
14, He said, But God forbid that I should glory save in the cross.
He didn't have anything glory in it, except Christ. Because
that's where God put it. That's where God put it. You
can read about it over in Colossians chapter 1. It said, It pleased
the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell. And He's
the head of the church that He might have the preeminence. Christ is the glory of the ministry. And any man, any church, any
group of men where Christ is not preeminent in their worship,
their faith, and in their lives is not of God. It's just not.
They don't see that glory. The power of the rod he holds
in his hand is demonstrated to the hearts and minds of those
who hear him by the person and work of the priest who goes with
him. The priesthood of Aaron is necessary
to the deliverance of Israel. Winston and I were talking about
before the service, and he was telling me, he's got a book by
Pink on the book of Exodus, a commentary on it. And he was telling me
what Pink said about the rod, like he talks about in Psalm
23, thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me and so on. Talking
about the comfort of that rod. But I don't have a rod, apart
from Christ. See what I'm saying? on every
rod. That's what the Lord was telling
Moses way back when he first started backpedaling. He said,
we got in your hand. Who put it there? Where'd you get it?
What's it mean? And he demonstrated for him what
that rod was all about. Steel. Steel. In his weakness. And then there's one more thing.
As a type of the law, he shows us the inability of the law.
I read to you earlier in John chapter 1 that the law came by
Moses. So Moses kind of represents the
law here in figurative speech. But as a type of the law, he
shows us the inability of the law to deliver us because of
the weakness and infirmity of the flesh. He couldn't do it. He couldn't do it. He couldn't
get over it. Romans chapter 8 verse 3. The
Lord said, for what the law could not do in that it was weak through
the flesh. God sending His own Son in the
likeness of sinful flesh and poor sin condemns sin in the
flesh. And that's why I tell you all
the time that this thing of deliverance is not brought about by reform. You can preach reform until the
cows come home, but a man is weak in the flesh and he can't
honor that law. You're just wasting your time.
You're wasting your time. You have to point him to him
who honored the law, exalted the law, Christ. He's the end
of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes. And
what sets the believer apart is the accomplished redemption
of Christ. And in him, the law is fully
satisfied, and all who believe are justified before God and
declared righteous. It was never God's intention
to send Moses alone into Egypt But he tells his gouting servant
that Aaron's already on the way. Ain't that what he said there
in that verse? Look up here. The anger of the Lord was kindled
against Moses, and he said, is not Aaron the Levite thy brother?
I know that he can speak well, and also, behold, he cometh. God already had his providence
arranged with Aaron on the way long before Moses even come up
with the argument. You see God's hand in that? Never
God's intent. And God's providence was already
in motion. He tells us in Romans 8 too,
it's the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus that sets
us free from the law of sin and death. And Paul sets this Old
Testament gospel before us in Romans chapter 3. If you want
to look at that, Romans 3, verses 24 and 25. He sets this Old Testament
Gospel before us. Verse 24, he said, "...being
justified freely by His grace through the redemption..." Now
we're talking about the work of the priest. "...through the
redemption that's in Christ Jesus, whom God hath set forth, to be
a propitiation. That word means mercy-seek. What
on earth was a mercy-seek? That's how God could be propitious.
That's right. That's what enabled God to show
mercy was the mercy-seek. Whom God has set forth to be
a propitiation, a mercy-seek, through faith in His blood, to
declare God's righteousness for the remission of sin. that are passed through the forbearance
of God. I'm talking about these Old Testament
saints. These things were given to Christ,
established in Christ, and counted in Him to be of their fullest
virtue before God ever laid the foundations of this world. He
said He's a lamb slain before the foundation of the world.
This is the preeminent theme of the Bible It's the preeminent
theme of all that God has preserved for our learning. If you go through
the New Testament, he constantly, he'll state these things and
he'll go back into the Old Testament and he'll say, for it is written,
for it is written, for it is written. And this is probably
the clearest of the types as we go through Exodus and I want
you to see up front how God establishes his way of delivering. And as
it goes on, he just builds on it and builds on it and builds
on it in detail until he gets down to the tabernacle. And then
we're going to camp there for a while, because I'm telling
you, everything in that tabernacle is a type and picture of his
person and work, everything in it. God help us to see it, in
seeing it to believe it, in believing it to preach it, and in preaching
it to give him all the glory for it.
