What does the Bible say about being blessed by God?

The Bible teaches that believers are blessed by God with all spiritual blessings in Christ, as stated in Ephesians 1:3.

The concept of being blessed by God is rooted deeply in Scripture, particularly in Ephesians 1:3, which states, 'Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.' This verse indicates that every spiritual blessing originates in God and is bestowed upon believers through their union with Christ. Not only do these blessings encompass grace and mercy, but they also affirm God’s eternal purpose in choosing a people for Himself before the foundation of the world, thus demonstrating His sovereignty in the matters of salvation.

Ephesians 1:3, Romans 8:30, Galatians 4:28

How do we know God's promises are true?

God's promises are confirmed through His covenant faithfulness and the historical fulfillment of His word, as seen in the Scriptures.

The truth of God's promises is grounded in His unchanging character and faithfulness. Scripture reveals that God's purpose continues through the covenants established with His people, showing a consistent pattern of fulfillment. For instance, Romans 9 highlights that being a child of God is grounded in His promise rather than human effort, and Ephesians 1 affirms that God has blessed us according to His sovereign will. Hence, believers can trust that every promise made by God will ultimately come to fruition, bolstered by the evidence of fulfilled prophecy and the life of Jesus Christ as the ultimate confirmation of His faithfulness.

Romans 9:6-8, Ephesians 1:4-5

Why is understanding God's blessings important for Christians?

Understanding God's blessings is crucial for Christians as it encourages faith in His sovereign provision and deepens one’s relationship with Him.

Recognizing the nature of God’s blessings allows Christians to appreciate the fullness of their salvation and relationship with Him. As the sermon explains, blessings are tied to the believer’s identity in Christ and the understanding of one's position as a child of promise (Galatians 4:28). This realization fosters a sense of security and gratitude in God’s sovereign will and providence, leading to a heart of worship and obedience. Furthermore, an awareness of divine blessings prompts believers to reflect on their spiritual needs, prioritize their relationship with Christ, and pursue a life grounded in gratitude for His grace and mercy.

I want to talk to you tonight
a little while about Isaac and his being blessed of God. Blessed of God. If you remember, I read to you
down here in verse 24. It says, And the Lord appeared
unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham
thy father, fear not, for I am with thee. and will bless thee."
Blessed of God. But it's not Isaac that I want
you to see. It's who Isaac represents. In Galatians chapter 4, having
set forth Abraham's two sons, Isaac and Ishmael, as allegories
of the two covenants, works and grace, he finishes up and sums
up the lesson with verse 28. and says, now we, brethren, as
Isaac was, are children of the promise. He represents us. And he represents us not only
in that allegory of works and grace, but he represents us throughout
his life as a believer. In Romans chapter 9, the apostle
says it this way. He said, neither because they
are the seed of Abraham are they all children, but in Isaac shall
thy seed be called. That is, they which are the children
of the flesh, these are not the children of God, but the children
of the promise are counted for the seed. And so, at least twice,
if not three times, He calls our attention. And actually,
when you begin to study Isaac, he didn't do anything really
significant like the other ones that God set forth in the Scripture.
He's pretty quiet. And that's why I'm dead positive.
He is a really good type of the believer whose mouth has been
shut. All the glory goes to God. It just doesn't call any attention
to Him at all. But what attention, when He does
call the attention to Him, here's what He says, I'm going to bless
you. I'm going to bless you. And so
that's what I want us to look at. He was blessed of God. He was blessed at His entrance
into this world. His mother was past the age of
childbearing. His father was 100 years old.
Believe God. And God came down, and in a miraculous
way, she conceived and bore this boy, Isaac. Son of promise, the
scripture calls him. What promise? What promise? How can he have a promise before
he's born? How can he be blessed with a
promise before he's born? But that's what it says. He was
the son of promise. And we're the son of promise
as he is, as Isaac was, so we're blessed of God. So look with
me over here in Ephesians chapter 1. And I know this is a very
familiar passage to you, Maybe you've read this, and read it,
and read it, and read it, and never really entered into the
treasure of it. And that's what I want us to
do tonight. I just want us to kind of set aside the cares,
and worries, and troubles of the day, and sit in here, and
with the economy, and politics, and weather, and all this stuff
that's going on in our day, and just sit and think with me for
a little while. We're blessed. We're blessed. Blessed of God. Here's this man
Isaac. He didn't really do a whole lot. I guess most of the time he didn't
think he was accomplishing anything. But he was. And he did. In all that he did. But watch
this over here in Ephesians 1, verse 3. Blessed be the God and
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be, Paul said. Blessed be. Paul blesses the
Lord God because in His being, see there where he says, blessed
be, in His being is all that's required to bless. Everything
about God in His purpose to reveal Himself
to us is a blessing. Even His justice, even His justice,
it's a blessing. What a blessing to know that
God's just. There was a time when I wasn't
aware that God was just. Was you? I thought God could
be satisfied with the best I could do. I had no concept of justice. I had no concept of the perfection
of righteousness and holiness in the character of God. What
a blessing to know God and just to know who He is. Know what
it is I face. Know what it is that's demanded
of me. Thousands don't know that. Thousands tonight are sitting
around and they're talking about all of them chipping in together
and going out and having a little march against drugs or something
out here. And they'll come home tomorrow
night and talk about how blessed they was. Or they'll go down
and have a meeting. And they won't have much preaching,
about 10 minutes worth of preaching. And they'll sing that night.
And they'll call it worship. And they'll go home and talk
about how blessed they was. Brethren, we're blessed. Blessed. Just blessed. Blessed
be. I'm telling you, Paul, you can
recognize Paul's books, just keep turning and looking at them.
That's why he opens up every book. Blessed be, he said, blessed
be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He's the fountainhead,
the wellspring of all blessings. James said this, every good gift,
every one, not one or two, Every good gift and every perfect gift
cometh down from the Father of lights. Why? Because all blessings
are in Him. He is blessed. That is what Paul
tells us. He is blessed. Blessed be the
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. You know, in Romans 9,
verse 5, Paul is talking about the God-man,
Christ. He is talking about Israel. And
he is singling them out and talking about Israel and who they were.
And God gave them the covenants and He gave them the law and
He gave them the prophets. And he said, and through Him
came the Redeemer, came Christ. Through Israel, through that
nation of Israel. Through that chain of Abraham's
sons came Christ. And what did he say about him
over there? Over all, God blessed forever. That's what he says.
That's how he identifies him. Over all, God blessed forever. Out of the very nature and character
of God comes blessings, sovereignly directed, wisely dispersed, righteously
bestowed, pure in their purpose, just in their distinction, irresistible. in their power, eternal in their
beginning, effectual in their application. Blessings, just
blessings. Blessed be God in the Trinity
of His persons, in the oneness of His Godhead, and in the eyes
of all them that know Him, He's blessed. And Paul said, He blessed
us. Not only is He blessed and He's
complete in Himself, But it's the will of God to bless a people. And Paul said, we're blessed
of God. We're blessed of Him. This blessed
God has blessed somebody, engaged his perfections on this behalf. Listen to what he says on the
subject. Over in Romans chapter 8, he said, if God be for us. Ain't that what we're talking
about? Who can be against you? If God has said it in His will,
determined in his heart to bless you, you're going to be blessed.
You're going to be blessed. And he said this, not just as
a kind of an abstract saying, but he said this in the light
of all that he'd said before. He said this in the light of
sovereign election, eternal predestination, effectual calling, justification,
and ultimate perfection. If God be for you, who can be
against you? He said this with a view including
all troubles, all resistance, all enemies. He said this with
a view on God's providential government. He said this with
a view of eternity. Surely to be blessed of God is
for the blessed God to be for us. And if He be for us, then
we're blessed because He is the blessing. He is the blessing. Now watch this, Ephesians 1 verse
3, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who
hath blessed us, now listen, with all spiritual blessings
in heavenly places in Christ. Now there's three things here.
First of all, there's spiritual blessings. spiritual blessings. And we're going to get into that
a little bit tonight. And he's saying all spiritual
blessings, not some, not part from him and part from us, not
part his and part mine, but all spiritual blessings he blessed
us with past tense already in Christ. In Christ. And then secondly, it says in
heavenly places. That's the place of the Genesis,
isn't it? I love to hear, I love to watch
the History Channel and listen to them talk about the Big Bang
and all that stuff and how creation come to be and how this little
paramecium crawled out on the bank and become a man and all
this stuff. It took a million years for Mother
Nature. Brethren, heavenly places, try
to get a hold of that, heavenly places. That's the place of the Genesis.
That's the place of beginnings. That's the place of eternity.
That's the place of God. The place of God. The place of
origins, purpose, authority, power, standards, revelations,
existence, life. Heavenly places, he said. Listen
to how they talk about Christ. I'm kind of jumping back and
forth here, but I want you to see that I'm not just babbling
up here and spitting out words. I'm trying to tell you how blessed
we are, and we're blessed as we learn this Gospel, and as
we learn who Christ is, and of His appointments, and of His
exaltation, of His incarnation, and all these things. We're blessed,
and the more we know about it, the more we recognize how blessed
we are. The more we become acquainted
with who we are, the more we realize how blessed we are. But
Paul said, He's before all things, and by Him all things consist.
He's before creation, and therefore, He's called the firstborn of
every creature. He's before man, and therefore,
He's the first begotten of the Father. He's before the fall,
and therefore, He's not affected by it, not at all. His offices
and appointments are from everlasting and have preeminence over all
those that happen in time. He's the head of the body of
the church who is the beginning, He says. slain before the foundation
of the world. And therefore, from the beginning,
He's called the first begotten from the dead. He's preeminent
in His things because it pleased the Father that in Him should
all fullness dwell. And so in Ephesians chapter 1
and verse 3, when He's talking about these blessings and blessing
us in heavenly places, He said He blessed us in Christ. He blessed us in Christ. All
these blessings are in Him. He's preeminent in these things.
Going to church is not a blessing if you don't find Christ there.
You see what I'm saying? Christ is the blessing. God took
all these blessings and put them in Him. Now where two or three
are gathered in His name, He said, there I am in the midst. But if He ain't in the midst,
it's not a blessing, it's a curse. It's not a step up, it's a step
down. Well, I know my son and daughter, they're not going where
they ought to go, but at least they're going to church. It could
be a curse. It could be a curse. They might have been better off
in the bar. Might have been. I know this. God said this to
John over in Revelations. Christ told him this. He said,
I know thy works. Talking to the church. Revelations
2, 9. And the tribulation and poverty. But they aren't rich, see? And
I know the blasphemy of them that say, we're Jews. We're saved. We're saved. I can take you to
the time and the place. We're saved. We're Jews. But
they're the synagogue of Satan. Now, that's what the Lord told
John. What makes going to a building
to worship and fellowship a blessing is the Spirit of the living God
revealing Christ to our hearts. That's what makes it, it's no
blessing just to come down here and sing a few songs and hear
some words and go home. My soul, if God don't reveal
Christ to us and speak to our hearts in Christ, it's all for
naught. He's the blessing. Experiences
are not a blessing if they don't begin and end with Christ. Satan
gives feelings and experiences and evidences. Old Balaam stood
out there and he said, let my end be the same as Israel. Well,
man, what a man. That's a man of God out there,
isn't he? No. No. What makes an experience of blessing
is if it begins and ends with Christ. Then that experience
becomes an experience of grace. Monetary things. I used to hunt
with a fellow up in Kentucky. And he used to tell me, he said,
boy, the Lord's blessed me. He said, I don't even have to
work if I don't want to. He said he'd bless me. But he
don't know Christ, so is that a blessing? No. It's that that keeps him away
from Christ. Decisions, same thing. If my
decision don't bring me to Christ, it's a curse, isn't it? It's
a false refuge. Even perseverance. Well, I can
say one thing. I've went to church all my life.
Now I'm down here on my deathbed. It could be a curse. It could be. Perseverance apart
from Christ isn't anything in the world except a refuge of
lies. All spiritual blessings are in Christ. Now watch this,
verse 4. According as He hath chosen us
in Him, before the foundation of the world. God has a people,
and these people are blessed, and they are blessed with the
eternal purpose of God, blessed with an everlasting covenant
of grace, blessed with a surety testator of the will of God,
blessed with an inheritance by adoption, blessed with a rule
that governs even the time and place and circumstance of our
lives. Paul, teaching The gospel to
these heathens on Mars Hill said, God hath made of one blood all
nations of men, for to dwell on all the face of the earth,
and hath determined the times before appointed, and set the
bounds of their habitation. Abraham dug these wells. And
the Philistines hated Abraham. They envied him. You know, when God blesses a
man, men envy him. They envy the peace he has. They
want it, but they won't believe. They don't want it by the means
of God. They don't want the grace of
God, but they just want what they see. This man has peace
and they'd like to have it. They'd like to have it, but they
can't have it. They can't have it. Abraham dug
these wells. The Philistines envied him. Went
down there right behind him. As soon as he died, they feared
him while he was alive. They knew God was with him. So
did Bimelech. But they wasn't too sure about
Isaac, was they? Bimelech got brave, said, you
need to get on out of here. You're causing trouble. Just
get on out of here. The police team down there dancing around,
yahoo. They went down there and filled
all them wells up full of dirt. Too dumb to drink out of them,
I guess. They went down there and filled them up full of dirt. But Isaac dug them again. He
dug them again. It's the God of all providence.
The God of all providence that brings His sons to the well.
Did you know that? And the enemy, the wells have
been here. They've been here since the garden. There's your
first well in the Old Testament, it's the garden. I've dug that
well. He came down in that garden in
the cool of the day and spoke to them, spoke to them with a
promise, slayed the sacrifice, showed them about the lamb, showed
them about the blood, told them about the coming Redeemer. There's
the first well. Didn't even get to the first
worship service before the enemy was covering it up with dirt. on a pilgrimage through the wilderness
in a land full of hostile people. God blessed Isaac and led him
to the wells of his fathers." Those wells are very revealing.
There were four wells that he came on to. I read them to you
just a little while ago. The first he called Esek. And
the word itself means glistering. Now I don't know, a lot of the
old writers that I read said this well means strife, and I
realize in the text it talks about strife, but that's not
what the name means. The name means glistering, like
an image of a painting captures the attention of somebody who
knows what it is. Might not mean anything to the
first 25 that walk past, but a true artist of heart walks
by and he sees what that artist captured and it captures his
heart. And he just sits and stares at
it. Stares at it. I used to wonder why they had
benches in art galleries. Now I know. Now I know. But he calls it, it means glistering.
It means captivating glory. And this well was a point of
contention. because of this glory that they
claimed. He saw in this well. Can you
remember the first drink you got of the grace of God? It was glistering to me. It was sweet to me. It was captivating
to me. They got in there. Isaac knew
where these wells were. He was just a young boy when
Abraham dug these wells, but he knew where they were. He went
down there, and there they were all full of dirt, and they dug
them out. There's that water. There's that water. All that
first well, glistening, full of glory. But they come along
and they said, this is ours. This is not yours. This is ours.
This is ours. This is for everybody. This ain't
for you. This is for everybody. Man's free will. He can claim
anything he wants. We claimed this well a long time
ago. This well belongs to us. He said, all right. He moved
on. He moved on. He come to the second well. It's
called Sitna. And the name of this well has
to do with an overflowing. Actually, the name has the connotation
of a deluge. Just an absolute deluge. Irresistible
force. It must have been a gusher. He
just dug down there a little bit. As soon as he got close
to that water, whoom, up it come. That didn't get to the bottom. Well, there was even more contention
over that well. Even more contention over it.
So he said, that's fine, I'll just move on. God led him to
the next well. Next well. You can't take Number
one, they don't appreciate what the gospel is. They don't even
know what the gospel is. They'd love to get rid of it.
They try to rewrite the scriptures and get rid of it, but they don't
know what the gospel is to get rid of it. So they just get rid
of things they don't like, like sovereignty and predestination
and things. They'll find some other word.
But they're not touching the gospel. I can go to any translation
of the Bible, nearly, and I can show you the gospel in that book. That may not be as good a translation
as the King James, but it'll be in there. They can't get rid
of it because they don't know what it is. They didn't know
what to do with those wells. They just covered them up. It's
the only thing they could think of. And that's what Arminianism
and religion does. It just covers it up because
they can't deal with it. They don't know what to do with
it. They just don't want you to have it. They don't want it. But Isaac was led of God to this
third well. He calls Rehoboth. And it means
to broaden or enlarge, to make room. God's rule over men. He satisfies
them and He makes room for Isaac in that land where He put him.
He provides for him. He makes that well there. Isaac
called it Rehoboth. I was thinking when I looked
at that well how He broadened our perception of Israel. You
see that there was Gentiles included in it, didn't you? He broadened
our perception of Christ so that we realized Jew or Gentile, rich
or poor, it doesn't make any difference. God has one man,
that spiritual man. In a world hostile to the children
of God, he restrains their hatred and enmity and makes room for
the strangers and pilgrims he's chosen out of. And then finally,
he gets over here to this well that he calls Sheba. Now, these
are all names that Abraham, we've already studied this. And I've
wrote articles on this well. And the name of that place, Beersheba,
means well of Sheba. But it comes from the word seven,
but it's different in that it also means an oath. It means
to final an agreement. Like in the old days, the old
historians like Josephus and that, they said that what this
meant, it was a common saying among them that when you had
an agreement that you wanted to settle, you shook hands, and
they called that to seven an agreement. And what it meant
was it goes back to the seventh day when God completed his work. It has to do with a complete
agreement, a satisfaction. It has to do with a perfect agreement. They're not going to break. They
were both agreed on it, shook hands on it, struck hands on
it, swore to one another. It's the number of completions.
And to drink at that well of Sheba, spiritually speaking,
is to drink of the waters of God's covenant blessings sealed
in the Lamb of God, sealed in His perfections. And it's an
end to all strife, an end to all work, complete satisfaction. We rest, Paul said. We enter
into that rest. Everything that follows these
eternal blessings of God in Christ comes as a result of the blessings
given us in Him before the world began. And I'm both optimistic
and I'm excited when I come in here week after week because
I'm persuaded that if God before the foundation of the world has
determined to bless a people, they're going to be blessed.
And not only that, but he tells me how he's going to bless them.
He said, it pleased me through the foolishness of preaching
to save them. That's how he's going to bless
them. Oh, Paul, how often did Paul say that? He said it over
there in 1 Timothy 1, 9. He said, God has saved you and
called you with a holy call, not according to your works,
but according to His own mercy and grace given us in Christ
Jesus before the world began. And he said, that's why I'm suffering
as a prisoner. That's why I suffer these shipwrecks.
That's why I suffer all this persecution. Because He's appointed
me to preach the gospel to those that He ordained before the world
began to bless. And I know He's going to bless
them. He's going to bless them. He's going to bless them. I'm optimistic and excited week
to week. I'm persuaded that they're going
to be giving ears to hear, and a heart to perceive, and giving
a new birth. Oh, but you say they kick and
fight. They despise this gospel. So did you. So did I, until God
broke me. He knows how to break you. He'll
ride every wild ass's coat. He'll ride right into the city
of God. He knows how to do it. Be led
to repentance. made to differ from other men,
made to submit to all the authority of Christ naturally and spiritually
in this world, in the church, on the job, in my marriage. I'm tired of hearing folks talking
about submitting to Christ and then being independent. Well,
I don't have to do that. Paul said, the love of Christ
constrains me. knew something about the love
of Christ, you'd have to do it. Yeah, you would. I'm just tired of folks talking
to me about submitting to Christ and then walking contrary to
His commandments. I submit to Christ, but they'll
argue up and down with me over everything I say. That's not
submission. That's not submission. Submission
is to be brought down. Christ is Lord. Christ dwells
in you. He sits on the throne. That's
the only place He'll sit. He won't sit on the side. He's
not going to sit in your shoe. He's going to sit on the throne.
He's going to rule things. You know the kingdom of Christ
is not a place. I was thinking about this when
I prepared it. It's not a place. All the way
through the New Testament, He's talking about the Kingdom of
God, and these Pharisees are going one way with it, and His
disciples are going the other way with it. The Kingdom of God
is in you. It's His rule. His rule. The Pharisees demanded of Him.
They said, when should the Kingdom of God come? When's it going
to come? If you're the Christ, tell us.
When's the Kingdom? When are you going to establish
the Kingdom? Now listen to this. This is over in Luke 17, verse
20. They demanded of Him. Can you imagine what must be in the hearts of
men for a man to stand before wisdom itself and demand of Him? Sovereignty itself? Demand of
Him? Tell us. Tell us. Here's what
He said. Luke 17, 20. The kingdom of God
cometh not with observation. You don't need to worry about
it. You can't see it. You can't see it. Neither shall they say,
Lo here or lo there. For behold, the kingdom of God
is within you. It's the rule of Christ. He said way over there in Psalms,
he said, God has set his king upon his holy hill in Zion. That's
the church. And all those who oppose his
love and rule, God will have them in derision. He'll laugh.
He'll laugh. He'll laugh. Isaac was blessed. And he was blessed in spite of
himself. Don't you think about that for a little while. God
blesses us in spite of ourselves. Not because in spite. in spite
of ourselves. And even his enemies didn't want
him to be their enemy. Listen to this. I read this to
you a while ago over here in Genesis 26, 26. Abimelech knew because God spoke
to him about Abraham. And even though Abraham was in
the wrong with what he told him, Approached that whole situation
wrong. And Isaac did the same thing. But even though he did
it, he said, regardless. The Lord said, he's mine. He's
mine. And he put the fear of God into
Bimelech. Bimelech didn't want anything.
And he come out there and made a covenant with him. Those herdsmen,
those Philistines and herdsmen and stuff was out there arguing
around with his herdsmen over them wells. And he come out and
he made that covenant. But they didn't know so much
about Isaac. But they found out real quick, Isaac was blessed
of God, too. And so old Bimelech, when he
realized what was going on and he saw those Philistines taking
those wells, Isaac was a powerful man. He was blessed above his
father as far as his monetary wealth and servants and cattle
and all these things. And he was feared in that land.
That's why Bimelech sent him away to start with. He was getting
bigger than he was. He was more wealthy than he was,
had more power than he did. He said, you need to go. Well,
now Bimelech comes to Isaac and he brings these men with him. And Isaac said to him when he
got there, he said, what are you coming to me for? Why are you coming to me? Saying you hate me. Huh? Now, Bimelech pleads that he
was sent him away in peace. Isaac said, you sent me away
because you hated me. And you sent me away from you.
Now watch this. And they said, we saw certainly,
no doubt, no doubt in our mind, we saw certainly that the Lord
is with thee. And we don't want you to do us
any harm. Don't do us any hurt. We didn't
do you any hurt. Don't do us any hurt. They didn't
want him as their enemy. We have no concept, I don't think,
of the of the blessings of God that surround. I don't think
we're even conscious of it. Do you know when God, this is
just a type. This is not the real thing. This
is just a type. But when God went down to Egypt
and delivered the Egyptians out from under that bondage and that
iron furnace and that hand, the most mighty nation on the face
of the globe. He went down there and he took
a bunch of ragtag servants and delivered them out of there by
one man and his testimony. And on the way out, God forbid
even a dog to bark against them. Not even a dog was allowed to
bark in opposition to their leaving Israel. That's blessed. All those
plagues fell on Israel. Didn't fall in Goshen. They said,
how come? Because they're blessed. He said,
I'm going to put a difference between you and them. And I'm
going to make it known. And so he does, and so he did. Everything that comes our way
works together for our good and his glory. We ought to rejoice.
If you suffer, it's a blessing. If we have Christ, if we suffer,
that's what Paul said, it was a blessing. He said he got what
he rejoiced when tribulation came, because he knew what it
was. It was for his good. It was a blessing. If you're
persecuted, it's a blessing, rich or poor, male or female,
bond or free. Everything comes our way, works
together for our good and His glory. Take away one, well, He'll
just lead us to another. Take it away and God will give
Him another one. Take it away and He'll intervene
and make room for you. Come down and make known His
blessed covenant. I want you to listen to what
the Lord said to His disciples. He gathered them all out there
and set them down on the side of that mountain, and He said,
blessed are the poor in spirit. Not blessed will be. Blessed
are. Every one of these. Blessed are.
Blessed are. All the way through. Those He led to see their poverty
Theirs is the kingdom. Blessed are they that mourn.
Mourn over sin and mourn over inabilities and mourn over what
they are by nature. They're going to be comforted.
That person that mourns, God will comfort him. Blessed are
the meek, the lowly in heart, low in their own esteem. Those
on the bottom looking up, they shall inherit the earth. You
think about old Isaac. Here he was down there. These
people have been living there for centuries. Their daddy and
their daddy's daddy and all that on back in time. A thousand years. Come along. Well, this is our
well. What do you mean that's your well? This is our well. We got
papers here. Look here. My grandpa signed
this. Signed it. Isaac just went to the next well,
didn't he? Isn't that what the Lord is talking about here? Blessed
are the meek, the lowly in heart, low in their own esteem. They
on the bottom. He said, they're going to inherit
the earth. Isaac was the heir of that whole outfit, that whole
country. It was his. God gave it to him
by promise. Blessed are they that hunger
and thirst after righteousness. Not theirs, but his. They're
going to be filled. Blessed are the merciful, those
who've been shown mercy. Tasted mercy and therefore show
mercy. They're going to obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, no guile, no deceit, no pretense,
no put on. A vessel of mercy for prepared
under glory. His pureness is in the Savior
and His revelation and in His presence, the pure in heart. Blessed are the peacemakers.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake. They
defend the author of it, the doctrine of it, the sufficiency
of it, the true end and goal of it, the absolute perfection
of it. He said, theirs is the kingdom
of God. And blessed are ye when men shall
revile you and persecute you and say all manner of evil against
you falsely for my sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad,
for great is your reward in heaven. For so persecuted they the prophets
which were before you." I tell you, the blessed man is a man
who deserves nothing, but is given everything. And being given
everything, he's rewarded for it. Can you imagine? That's blessings
beyond your imagination, isn't it? What would God reward you
for? Huh? Well done, my good and faithful
servant, my soul. What did I do? They couldn't
even figure out when they gave somebody a drink, could they?
How are we going to feel on that day when He said, enter in, thy
good and faithful servant. All of grace, all of grace. Blessed, blessed. Do you know
the blessings of God? This thought came to me this
afternoon. I'll give this to you now. The blessings of God are like
the deep space in which contains all the universe. Send out these
probes and things. Been going out there for years.
Got these telescopes on them. When they get out there, they
just see a little further. See a little further. And the farther
they see, they find these new planets, and they find these
new places out there. On beyond that's more space,
isn't it? Well, before there was space, there was a blessing. And everything that fills that
space is because of that blessing. God set him up to bless. Now, I want you to listen to
what he told Abraham. He said, surely, blessing! He said, I'll bless thee. And
multiplying, I'll multiply thee. Blessing. Blessing. He set up
his son to bless. And oh, my, how he David said, let everything that
hath bread.
