In this great 11th chapter of
Hebrews, what is sometimes called the Hall of Faith, we have a
reference to Isaac blessing Jacob and Esau concerning things to
come. And this is the first time we
read of the word blessing or blessed in this chapter. God is. and what power he has to bless. If he blesses you, you are blessed. And I want God's blessing, don't
you? I want God's blessing upon me.
I want God's blessing upon my home. I want God's blessing upon
this assembly. I want God's blessing. Bad. Now, if I heard a preacher
get up and say, I'm going to preach upon this subject, how
to obtain God's blessing, it would probably irritate me. One
of those how-to sermons. you know, how to get this blessing
and how to get that blessing, and it would probably irritate
me, and I would think you don't even know how to obtain God's
blessing. I mean, you see so much of that in preachers. Would you turn with me to Genesis
chapter 27? This is what was being referred
to, and it's about somebody obtaining God's blessing. I want to read this passage of
scripture. And it came to pass that when
Isaac was old, and his eyes were dimmed so that he could not see,
he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son. And
he said unto him, Behold, here I am. And he said, behold, now
I'm old. I know not the day of my death.
Now, therefore, take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver,
and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison,
and make me savory meat, such as I love, and bring it to me,
that I may eat it, that my soul may bless thee before I die. And Rebekah heard when Isaac
spake to Esau his son, and Esau went to the field to hunt for
venison and to bring it. And Rebekah spake unto Jacob
her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy
brother, saying, Bring me venison, and make me savory meat that
I may eat, and bless thee before the Lord before my death. Now
therefore my son, Obey my voice, according to that which I command
thee. Go now to the flock and fetch me from thence two good
kids of the goats, and I will make them savory meat for thy
father, such as he loveth. And thou shalt bring it to thy
father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before
his death.' And Jacob said to Rebekah's mother,
Behold, Esau, my brother, is a hairy man, and I am a smooth
man. My father per adventure will feel me and I shall seem
to him as a deceiver and I shall bring a curse upon me and not
a blessing And his mother said unto him Upon me be thy curse
my son only obey my voice And go fetch me then And he went
and fetched and brought them to his mother. And his mother
made savory meat, such as his father loved. And Rebecca took
goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her
in the house. And she put them upon Jacob,
her younger son. And she put the skins of the
kids of the goats upon his hands and upon the smooth of his neck.
And she gave the savory meat and the bread which she had prepared
into the hand of her son Jacob. And he said unto his father,
He came unto his father and said, My father? And he said, Here
am I. Who art thou, my son? And Jacob
said unto his father, I am Esau, thy firstborn. I have done according
as thou badest me. Arise, I pray thee, sit in need
of my medicine, that thy soul may bless me. And Isaac said
unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly,
my son? And he said, Because the Lord thy God brought it to
me. And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that
I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not.
And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father, and he felt him,
and said, The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the
hands of Esau. And he discerned him not, because his hands were
hairy as his brother Esau's hands. So he blessed him. And he said,
art thou my very son Esau? And he said, I am. And he said,
bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son's venison, that
my soul may bless thee. And he brought it near to him,
and he did eat. And he brought him wine, and he drank. And his
father Isaac said unto him, Come near now, and kiss me, my son.
And he came near and kissed him, and he smelled the smell of his
raiment. And blessed him and said, See, the smell of my son
is as the smell of the field which the Lord God hath blessed.
Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven and the fatness
of the earth and plenty of corn and wine. Let people serve thee
and nations bow down to thee. Be Lord over thy brethren and
let thy mother's sons bow down to thee. Cursed be everyone that
cursed thee and blessed be he that blesseth thee. Jacob obtained
the blessing and it came to pass as soon as Isaac had made an
end of blessing Jacob and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from
the presence of Isaac his father that Esau his brother came in
from his hunting and he also had made savory meat and brought
it into his father and said unto his father let my father arise
and eat of his son's venison that thy soul may bless me and
Isaac his father said unto him who art thou and he said I'm
thy son thy firstborn Esau And Isaac trembled very exceedingly
and said, Who? Where is he that hath taken venison
and brought it to me? I have eaten all before thou
camest, and have blessed him, yea, and he shall be blessed. And when Esau heard the words
of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter
cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my
father. And he said, Thy brother came
with subtlety, and hath taken away thy blessing, And he said,
Is not he rightly named Jacob, for he hath supplanted me these
two times? He took away my birthright, and behold, now he hath taken
away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved
a blessing for me? And Isaac answered and said unto
Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren
have I given to him for servants. And with corn and wine have I
sustained him. And what shall I do now unto
thee, my son? And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one
blessing, my father? Bless me, even me, O my father.
And Esau lifted up his voice and wept. And Isaac his father
answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness
of the earth and of the dew of heaven from above. And by thy
sword shalt thou live and shalt serve thy brother and shall come
to pass when thou shalt have the dominion that thou shalt
break his yoke from off thy neck. And Esau hated Jacob because
of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him. And Esau
said in his heart, the days of mourning for my father at hand,
then will I slay my brother Jacob." Now this is one of the more sordid
stories of the Bible. It's a story of deceit, of fraud,
of lying, and swindling. How that Jacob swindled his brother
to obtain the blessing. Now how in the world can that
be used to illustrate faith? This is a story of deceit. Well, it was determined before
that Jacob and Esau was born that Jacob was going to have
the blessing, wasn't it? God said that. The elder, Esau, is
going to serve the younger. This was determined before and
Esau proved that he didn't really care about the blessing anyway.
You remember when he, let's read it, turn back to Genesis 25,
verse 29. And Jacob sawed pottage, he was
making something to eat. And Esau came to the field and
he was faint. Now you've come in hungry, you
know what that means, he was hungry. And Esau said to Jacob,
Feed me, I pray thee, with the same red pottage, for I am faint.
Therefore was his name called Edom. And Jacob said, Sell me
this day thy birthright. Now this had the promise of Isaac's
blessing with the birthright. This was the chief blessing to
the firstborn. And Jacob says, Sell me your
birthright. And Esau said, Behold, I am at
the point to die, and what profit shall this birthright do to me?
And Jacob said, Swear to me this day. And he swore unto him, and
he sold his birthright unto Jacob for a bowl of soup. Now, I think
he could have waited and got something else to eat, but this
is how he valued that birthright. He was willing to sell that birthright
for a bowl of soup. Then Jacob gave Esau bread and
pottage of lentils, and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and
went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright."
Now that's what it says. He despised his birthright. He saw no value at all in his
birthright. So Esau proved that this blessing
didn't mean that much to him in the first place. Now let's
go back to Genesis chapter 27 and it came to pass that when
Isaac was old and his eyes were dimmed so that he could not see
he called Esau his eldest son I'm basically just going to read
this again maybe make a few comments on it before I get into the message
he called Esau his eldest son and said unto him my son and
he said unto him behold here am I remember he was his dad's
favorite His dad liked him. Rebecca liked Jacob. He was his
daddy's favorite. And he said, behold, now I'm
old. I know not the day of my death. Now, therefore, I pray
thee, take thy weapons, and thy quiver, and thy bow, and go out
to the field, and take me some venison, and make me some savory
meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat, that
my soul may bless thee before I die. And Rebecca, she was something. She loved her boy Jacob. She loved Jacob better than she
did Esau. And she wanted Jacob to have
this blessing. And she was going to do whatever
it took to make sure Jacob got the blessing. And it was an act
of deception. There's no justification for
the way she did this. Look at verse 5. And Rebekah
heard when Isaac spake to Esau his son and Esau went to the
field to hunt for venison and bring it and Rebekah spake unto
Jacob her son saying behold I heard thy father speak and Esau thy
brother saying bring me venison make me savory meat that I may
eat and bless thee before My death now therefore my son obey
my voice according to that which I command thee Go now to the
flock and fetch from them two good kids of goats And I'll make
them savory meat that thy father such as he loved now. This was
deception. It was a lie. I That's all it
was. It was deceitful, it was wrong,
it was sin. There was no justification for
what she was doing. And thou shalt bring it to thy
father that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his
death. Oh, she wanted, she coveted God's blessing for his son. And
she was willing to go to whatever length she had to go through
to get it. And Jacob said to Rebekah, his
mother, behold, he saw my brother as a hairy man, and I'm a smooth
man. My father peradventure will feel me and I shall see him to
be as a deceiver. And I'll bring a curse upon me
and not a blessing. You can see what she was scared to death.
I would have been afraid of that. I would have been very afraid.
I mean, can you imagine going into the father and saying, you
know, he's blind and saying, and knowing you're Jacob and
saying, I'm Esau. Well, what if I get exposed? What if I get
caught? I'll bring a curse on myself.
He was very afraid to do this. Verse 13, and his mother said
unto him, upon me be thy curse, my son, only obey my voice and
go and fetch them. And he went and fetched and brought
to his mother and his mother made this savory meat, such as
his father loved. She knew exactly what it would
take to please him. And Rebecca took goodly raiment, a beautiful,
precious coat, the coat that Esau owned. And she took that
coat and she placed it upon Jacob. And then she took skins of goats,
hairy. So he appeared to be just like
his brother Esau. Remember, Jacob was a smooth
man and Esau was a hairy man. So put the skin of the goats
on the back of his neck, on his hand. So when his father would
say, let me feel you, he'd feel just like Esau. Wouldn't know
the difference. Now, verse 18, and he came unto
his father and said, my father, can you imagine how nervous he
was at this time? I bet he was scared to death because he knew
what he was doing was deceptive. And so he comes and says, my
father, he said, here am I. Who are you, my son? And Jacob
said unto his father, I'm Esau. He told a bold faced lie. He
said, I'm Esau. And then he does something even
more unclean. He implicates the Lord in this
thing. And Jacob said to his father, I am Esau, thy firstborn.
I have done according as all thou badest me. Arise, I pray
thee, sit thee to my venison, that thy soul may bless me. And
Isaac said unto his son, How is it that you found it so quickly,
my son? And he said, Because the Lord God brought it to me.
I hate it when people bring the Lord's name into their things. You know, he said, Well, the
Lord brought it to me. And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I
pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son. You see, he smelled a
rat. He smelled a rat, didn't he? He knew something was wrong.
He heard Jacob's voice, but he felt Esau. He knew something
was wrong. And he said, Come near, I pray
thee, that I may feel thee my son, whether thou be my very
son Esau or not. And Jacob went near unto Isaac
his father, and he felt him. He said, The voice of Jacob's
voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau. And he discerned
him not. There was no discernible difference.
He couldn't tell the difference between Jacob And Esau, because
his hands were hairy and his brother Esau's hands were hairy,
and he blessed him. And he said, Art thou my very
son Esau? He still wasn't sure, was he?
Art thou my very son Esau? and he said come now and kiss
me my son art thou my very son he saw he said bring it near
to me and i'll eat of my son's medicine that my soul may bless
thee and he brought it near to him and he he brought him wine
and he drank and his father isaac said unto him come near now and
kiss me my son and he came near and he kissed him and he smelled
the smell that raiment remember that clothing that that coat
that his mom gave him to put on Isaac smelled that coat and
it smelled just like Esau. So he was convinced this must
be Esau. And so he blessed him. He blessed
him. He blessed him with this great
blessing. See, the smell of my Son is the smell of the field
which the Lord hath blessed. Therefore, God hath given thee
the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn
and wine. Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee.
Be Lord over thy brethren, and let thy brother's sons bow down
to thee. Cursed be everyone that cursed
thee, and blessed be he that blessed thee." Jacob had the
blessing, and what a blessing it was. I mean, he had everything. Everything that was coming to
Esau was given to Jacob. He obtained the blessing. And as soon as he goes out, being
blessed by his father, in comes Esau, and you know what happened.
Isaac trembles. He says, who was it that just
came in here? And he knew then that it was
Jacob who got the blessing by deceit and by fraud. But he knew
this blessing couldn't be reversed. Once God blessed, that blessing
could not be reversed. And that's where Esau cries with
that bitter cry, hast thou not one blessing for me? And he gives
him that inferior blessing. And he decides after this, I'm
putting Jacob out of business for what he's done. Now, how
to obtain God's blessing? Without doubt, this story is
a story of lying, deceit, evil, and fraud. And God was not pleased
with what was going on. But if that's all we see in this
story, we missed the point. Now, remember, every story in
the Old Testament is given to illustrate the gospel of the
Lord Jesus Christ, just like every psalm is a Messianic psalm.
It speaks of Christ. Every story is given to illustrate
the gospel of Christ. And this story is such a powerful
illustration of the gospel. Now, somebody says, how do you
know it's given for that purpose? Well, for instance, what about
the story of Abraham and Sarah and Hagar and Ishmael? There
was wrongdoing going on in that. It was wrong for Abraham to go
into Hagar. It was sin. It was sin then,
it's sin now. And yet, in that story, God tells
us it's an allegory to teach us the difference between law
and grace. So every one of these stories
are given to illustrate to us and give us an example. Now,
this story is given to us to teach us how we may obtain the
blessing of God. Now, don't you want to obtain
God's blessing? Oh, I do. I want His blessing. Now, there are four characters
in this story. Isaac, Esau, Jacob, and Rebekah, and each of these
four characters serve as types. Isaac is a type of the father,
the great blesser. He's the only one who could bless
you. And if he blesses you, you are blessed. Esau is a type of the blessed
one. the Lord Jesus Christ. Now somebody
says, how can you say Esau could be a type of Christ? Well, the
same way Adam was a type of Christ in his fall, he was a type of
Christ. And for Jacob to have the blessing,
he's going to have to be just like Esau, isn't he? He's going
to have to look like Esau. He's going to have to smell like
Esau. He's going to have to feel like Esau. He's going to have
to be Esau. The only way Jacob can have this
blessing is if he appears to be Esau. And that shows how Esau
is a type of the Lord Jesus Christ. Rebekah is a type of God the
Holy Spirit. God the Holy Spirit was in on
this covenant made between the Father and the Son, and He's
the one who tells Jacob, a type of the believer, how he can receive
the blessing. Now, if you're blessed by God
and if I'm blessed by God, we're going to be blessed the same
way that Jacob was blessed. The gospels, I know it's a story
of deceit and fraud, but get past that. Remember, God is in
control of everything. And everything, this story and
every other story is used to teach us of the gospel and God
uses it to glorify himself. Now, three things I know. about me getting the blessing.
And you'll know the same thing about you. If I get God's blessing, it was already determined before
for me to get it. I know that. I just know that
from the scriptures. I know if I am blessed by God,
it will be because God determined for me to be blessed. The second
thing I know, If I get it, like Jacob, I am
utterly unworthy of getting it, and completely unworthy of getting
it. Jacob didn't deserve it. What
he did... Did he deserve this blessing? No. And like Jacob, if I'm seen only
to be me, I'll be seen to be a deceiver, nothing more. Jacob was afraid of that, wasn't
he? He was afraid, I'm going to be found out. I'm going to
be found out to be what I really am because he was aware of his
sinfulness and he was aware of himself. So I know this, for
me to get God's blessing and I want it so bad, it's going
to be because God determined to give it to me. If I get it,
one thing's for sure, I don't deserve it. And I fear, I fear
being found out. Every believer does because they
have some idea of their sinfulness and just the gospel just so often
It just seems too good to be true. What if I'm found out?
Now in this chapter, the first part is a covenant of blessing
between the father and the son Isaac says to Esau the father
says to the son bring me the savory meat such as I love and
I'm going to bless you now the Holy Spirit hears about this
covenant and the Holy Spirit tells Jacob of the father's blessing
and the Holy Spirit tells Jacob what to do look in verse 8 now
therefore my son obey my voice, and this is what God the Holy
Spirit tells every one of his people to do. Obey my voice,
do exactly as I say. Obey my voice according to that
which I command thee. Go now to the flock and fetch
from thence two kids of goats. Now, where else were two kids
of goats used? Only one other place in the Bible,
the day of atonement. This is a reference to the atonement.
Now, what the Holy Spirit is saying is for you to be blessed
by the Father, you're going to have to bring the same sacrifice
He brought. The Lord Jesus Christ, that savory
meat such as His Father loved, that sacrifice, you're going
to have to bring the same sacrifice He brought. Now, when I come
into God's presence desiring His blessing, I come with only
one thing, consciously. The only thing I plead is the
sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. I wouldn't dare come any other
way." She says, you bring these two kids of goats, which refers
to the atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ. Remember the scapegoat? You remember the two goats and
the day of atonement? He says, you bring the same sacrifice,
the savory meat such as the Father loveth. And, oh, the father loves
the sacrifice of his son. It's a sweet smell to him. It's
a sweet savor. You come the exact same way. Now, if you want God's blessing,
if you really want God's blessing, the only way you're going to
have it is if you come pleading the sacrifice of Christ and nothing
else. Not 10 and dash it bring it to
thy father that he may eat and that he may bless thee before
his death And Jacob said to Rebekah, his mother, behold, Esau, my
brother, is a hairy man, and I'm a smooth man. My father,
Prudential, will feel me, and I shall see to him as a deceiver,
and I bring a curse upon me and not a blessing. Now, when I hear
the gospel, even right now, I hear the gospel of how in Christ I'm
complete, I'm accepted, I'm just like Christ, I have His righteousness,
I have His grace. I hear that. I believe it. But
I think, what if I'm seen to be what I really am in myself?
What will happen to me? This almost seems too good to
be true. I'm afraid I'll bring a curse on myself if I try to
come waltzing into God's presence and say I'm accepted, I'm perfect
in Christ, pleading the blood of Christ. I'm afraid I'm going
to bring a curse on myself. What's going to happen? I can
understand him feeling that way, can't you? Because when I hear
the gospel... How many times when you hear the gospel preached
and you think, is this really true? Am I really without sin
in Christ? Am I really perfect in Christ
Jesus? I mean, can I really take this
to myself? Is this true? It almost seems
too good to be true, doesn't it? He was afraid. so verse 14 he went and fetched
and brought them to his mother and his mother made savory meat
such as his father loved and Rebecca took goodly arraignment
of her eldest son Esau which was with her in the house and
she put them on Jacob her younger son now you know what that refers
to That refers to the glorious robe of righteousness, the righteousness
and merits of the Lord Jesus Christ. Now, if you're going
to have God's blessing, you're going to have to bring the sacrifice,
same one he did, and you're going to have to have his robe on you.
You're going to have to have the robe of his righteousness. And remember this about the robe
of his righteousness, unlike this robe. This was a goodly,
precious robe. I'm sure Jacob looked good in
it, but underneath it, he was still the same old Jacob. But
when you put the robe of the Lord Jesus Christ on, this is
not like just cover up does something for you. You must have His robe
on you, or you can't possibly obtain God's blessing. You must
have the very righteousness of Jesus Christ. Now, you come pleading
only the sacrifice, and you come in the robe of righteousness,
and notice, Rebecca put it on him. You can't even get this
thing on yourself. The only way you can get this righteousness
on is if God the Holy Spirit puts it on you, and you know
that. She put this on her son. verse 16 and she put the skins
of the kids of the goats upon his hands and upon the smooth
of his neck and she gave the savory meat and the bread which
he had prepared into the hand of Jacob her son and he came
unto his father and said my father now can you imagine how nervous
he was at this time I mean he was scared what if I'm found
out to be a deceiver what if somehow This doesn't work for
me. He was scared at this time. It's
just, what if I'm exposed? So he comes into his father's
presence. Here am I, who art thou my son?
Verse 19, Jacob said into his father, I'm Esau. Now listen to me real carefully.
You say that was a lie. When you come into God's presence,
There's only one name that He'll accept. That's the name of His
Son. And the only way you better answer
that, who are you? I'm in Christ. That's the only plea
I got. I may use Christ's name. I'm
not going to use my own name. I don't come in my own name. I come in
the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm looking to His name as my
reason for acceptance before God. That's the only way I come.
I come and I answer the way Jacob answered. I'm afraid to use my
own name. I don't come united to Christ. I come only in Him. I will not use another name. Jacob said to his father. I'm
Esau thy firstborn. I have done according as thou
badest me Now In Christ I've obeyed I Come
pleading the obedience of my Redeemer. I Have done as thou
badest me Arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that
thy soul may bless me. And Isaac said unto his son,
How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he
said, Because the Lord thy God brought it to me. Now, you know
that anything you have that God can accept, this sacrifice, this
robe, feeling like Christ, smelling like Christ, you know, God brought
it to you. You know, it's his work and not
yours. You know, the only way you have
it is because the Lord God has brought it to you. and Isaac
verse 21 Said unto Jacob come near I pray thee that I may feel
thee my son whether thou be my very son Esau or not In order
for me to have the blessing I have to feel exactly like the Lord
Jesus Christ God the Father is gonna put his
hand on me and And if I don't feel exactly like the Lord Jesus
Christ, I won't be blessed. For me to be blessed by God,
I'm going to have to feel just like the Lord Jesus Christ. Verse
22, And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father, and he felt
him, and said, The voice of Jacob's voice, but the hands of the hands
of Esau. He felt just like the Lord Jesus
Christ, and he discerned him not. Now, for me to be blessed
by God, there's got to be no discernible difference between
me and the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm going to have to be just
like Him. The only way I'm going to have
His blessing is if you look at me and you look at Him and you
can't tell the difference. No discernible difference. And
that is the truth regarding every believer in Christ. There's no
discern... I'm in Him. United to him that's
the only way you can come he discerned him not because his
hands were hairy as his brother Esau so he blessed him He said
are you my very son Esau? and he said I am I Won't plead anything else When
the father looks at me and says are you my very son? I I won't say anything else. In
the Lord Jesus, that's the only way I can come and have his blessing. Verse 25, and he said, bring
it near to me and I will eat of my son's venison, that sacrifice
that my soul may bless thee. And he brought it near to him
and he did eat and he brought him wine and he drank. And his
father Isaac said unto him, come near now and kiss me my son.
And he came near and he kissed him and he smelled the smell
of his raiment. Now, for you to be blessed by
God, for me to be blessed by God, I'm going to have to smell
just like the Lord Jesus Christ. Now, Jacob, the way he felt about
himself, he felt like a deceiver, didn't he? He felt afraid. He felt nervous. I don't think
he was real bold about this. I mean, you think of it, because
he had some idea about who he was and what he was. But he knew
that the only way he could obtain the Father's blessing is for
him to be Esau. And the only way I can obtain
God's blessing, I know this for a fact, the only way I can obtain
blessing is to come to God the same way Jacob did Feeling like
Esau, having Esau's raiment on, bringing Esau's sacrifice, being
Esau. That's it. How do I obtain God's blessing? Number one, the only name I'll
answer to is Christ's name. Can you hear into that? The only
name you'll answer to is Christ's name. If I hear Todd's name called,
I'm not, no, I'm not answering to that name. The only way I can obtain the
blessing is for me to have Christ's righteousness placed upon me,
that goodly reignment. The only way God can bless me
is if I have the very righteousness and merits of Christ covering
me. Third, the only way I can obtain
God's blessing is if I smell and feel like the Lord Jesus
Christ. And the only way I can obtain
the blessing is by bringing the same sacrifice, that savory meat
that the Father loves, the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. Now,
what I want to ask you to do, can't do it unless God enables
you. I can't do it unless God enables me. What I want to ask
you to do is I want you to come into the Father's presence the
same way that Jacob came into his Father's presence. And you
do that. you will obtain the blessing
of God. And if you leave any of this
out, you will not be blessed. As a matter of fact, you'll be
under God's curse. The only way for you and I to actually receive
the blessing of God is to come the same way He did. And what a blessing Jacob got,
Jacob got all the blessing that was coming to Esau. You say,
that doesn't seem fair. Well, whatever God does is fair.
I just know that. That objection won't hold water. But this gives me some hope that
I'm going to get His blessing. This story right here, this gives
me some hope that I'm going to be the one blessed. And by His
grace, I'm going to come the same way that Jacob came. That's how to obtain God's blessing. May God give us all grace to
