Let's turn together to the book
of Obadiah. Obadiah, verse 17. Shelby and I had the privilege
of having Doug and Faith and the children over for the better
part of four days this week. Yesterday afternoon, Doug and
I had several hours together just to sit and visit, talk.
And he made a statement. He said, the greatest fear I
have is the fear of being proud and self-righteous. So proud
and self-righteous that I miss Christ. That's the condition Edom was
in. God said the pride of your heart has deceived you. And then
Obadiah pronounces the judgment of God upon people who were secure
but deceived, at ease but deceived, peaceful but deceived. They thought all was well and
nothing was well because the pride of their heart had deceived
them. Now look at verse 17. But, isn't
that a great word? But, but, upon Mount Zion shall
be deliverance, and there shall be holiness, and the house of
Jacob shall possess their possessions. Our text begins with this little
word, but. That word shows us that now what
the prophet is about to say is in direct contrast with all that
precedes it. I said to Doug, after he expressed
that fear, I said, you can't have a better fear, nor can I. But. Believing the Son of God,
all is well. Trusting Christ, all is indeed
safe and secure and well. The first 16 verses of Obadiah's
prophecy are stinging words of wrath, judgment, and condemnation
for the Edomites. Judgment which they had fully
earned. Judgment to be measured out by
God Almighty exactly according to the merits of the sons of
Esau. But, verses 17 through 21 speak
of grace. deliverance by grace, holiness
by grace, the possession of possessions bestowed upon the house of Jacob
by an act of boundless, undeserved mercy, love, and grace. What a contrast. When God comes
forth to judge the wicked, he comes forth to save his elect.
When Pharaoh is overthrown in the Red Sea, it is that Israel
might be delivered. When Amalek is conquered, it
is that Israel might be saved. Obadiah speaks of both the black
cloud of wrath and the silver lining of grace that's to be
seen in all God's wondrous works. The acceptable year of the Lord
is also the day of the vengeance of our God. The psalmist said
this, I will sing of mercy and of judgment. How can that be? I will sing of mercy and of judgment. It is because the two go hand
in hand. The scepter of mercy is displayed
side by side with the sword of judgment throughout the scriptures. Indeed, the scepter of mercy
is extended only upon the grounds of justice satisfied. It is always
set before us in this light in the book of God. Let me give
you some examples. It was the sword of justice that
fell upon Adam and pronounced the curse upon him and his posterity
because of his sin. But because the sword of justice
fell upon him, God Almighty stretched out the scepter of mercy and
promised that he would send one who would crush the serpent's
head. And he called Adam and Eve to be clothed with the skins
of the slain victim which he had slain and accepted on their
behalf. The sword fell upon Noah's generation,
but Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. The sword fell in
Egypt, but mercy fell upon Israel. The sword fell upon the Son of
God. God Almighty said, Awake, O sword,
against one that is my fellow. Smite and slay the shepherd.
And thereby mercy falls upon all chosen sinners for Christ's
sake. The sword shall fall upon the
earth in the last day. then mercy, everlasting, endless
mercy upon the redeemed. The ungodly in the day of the
Lord will be darkness and not light. When Christ comes again,
there will be everlasting curse and damnation on his left hand,
and everlasting bliss and salvation on his right. He is the one who
comes to bring justice both in the exercise of his wrath and
in the bestowing of his mercy. Hell will be as deep as heaven
is high. And God, who delighteth in mercy,
hates iniquity. And one of these days, he will
purge his creation of all evil and all workers of iniquity.
Look at verse 15 in this passage. There is a day coming when the
ungodly shall be as though they had not been. What an astounding
word. For the day of the Lord is near
upon all the heathen. As thou hast done, it shall be
done unto thee. Thy reward shall turn upon thine
own head. For as you have drunk upon my
holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually. Yea,
they shall drink and they shall swallow down. Now watch this.
And they shall be as though they had not been. They shall be as though they
had not been. In other words, the slime of
the serpent will no longer be seen on God's creation. Evil
will no longer come to pass in God's creation. Ungodliness will
no longer exist. And all workers of iniquity will
pass out of remembrance and shall be as though they had not been. Verse 17. But, oh, oh, blessed
contrast. Upon Mount Zion shall be deliverance.
And there shall be holiness, and the house of Jacob shall
possess their possessions. And the house of Jacob shall
be afire, and the house of Joseph aflame, and the house of Esau
for stubble. And they shall kindle them, and
devour them, and there shall not be any remaining of the house
of Esau. For the Lord has spoken it. Now here are three great promises
of God. Three great promises of grace. May God give you grace to lay
hold of them. Number one, upon Mount Zion shall
be deliverance. This is not merely a promise
of typical and physical deliverance for Israel, though certainly
that was involved in the promise that Obadiah here made for God
sent deliverance to the nation physically. But this is a promise
concerning Christ Jesus the Lord, our great deliverer, and the
eternal salvation that he has accomplished for us, spiritual
salvation, deliverance from sin, from the curse of the law, from
Satan, from wrath, from death, from the world unto eternal life. Look in Romans chapter 11. The
Apostle Paul picks up on this very same statement. Romans 11.
Hold your hands here at Obadiah. We'll be right back there. But
Paul is dealing with the accomplishments of redemption by Christ. He's
talking about the fulfilling of prophecy. And this is what
he says. Obadiah says there should be
a deliverer in Zion. Here in Romans 11, 26. And so
all Israel shall be saved, as it is written, there shall come
out of Zion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from
Jacob. For this is my covenant unto
them, when I shall take away their sins. Christ, then, is
the Deliverer. He's the Deliverer who came to
Zion. He's the Deliverer who comes
out of Zion. It is Christ who has wrought
deliverance for Zion, His church, His people. It is this deliverance
that is proclaimed in Zion, and all who are delivered forever
dwell in Zion. Now this is what Obadiah is talking
about. Turn to Joel chapter 32. Let me give you the same prophecy
in the way Joel states it. Joel chapter two, verse 32. Our translation, if you'll look
at the alternate translation in the margin of your Bible,
might be translated like this. Upon Mount Zion shall they be
that escape. They that escape the curse of
the law. They who are delivered by the Deliverer shall stand
upon Mount Zion forever. They stand in refuge, the refuge
Christ Jesus the Lord. Now here's the promise Joel gives.
And it shall come to pass, verse 32, that whosoever shall call
upon the name of the Lord. Now let me pause a moment and
tell you what that means. To call upon the name of the
Lord is to worship Him. To worship Him. Men began to
call upon the name of the Lord back in the book of Genesis.
That is, they began to worship God. To call upon Him is not
merely to repeat a word or a phrase. To call upon Him is not merely
to say, I believe in Jesus. To call upon Him is in your heart
to worship Him. To worship Him as the Lord your
God. Now, whosoever shall worship the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ
is that name whereby we must be saved. The name of the Lord
revealed. Whosoever shall worship the name
of Christ shall be delivered. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
shall be deliverance, as the Lord has said, and in the remnant
whom the Lord shall call. Who are these who call upon the
name of the Lord? Those who are delivered by Christ, those who
are called by His grace, the remnant whom He's chosen. Now
the deliverance that's proclaimed in Zion, the deliverance that's
found in Zion is a threefold deliverance. You remember when
Paul describes his physical difficulties. He says that God delivered us
from so great a death. and doth deliver, in whom we
trust he will yet deliver us. Now those same tenses may be
properly applied to our salvation spiritually in Christ. We have
been delivered. Christ has delivered us. We have been saved. Salvation
is something that took place in eternity in a very real sense. Now, I stress this because if
salvation in any way, in any way, depends upon our experience
in time, there can be nothing that is comfortable, assuring,
and peaceful concerning it. Salvation, as we experience it
in time, was accomplished for us in the past, in eternity. Listen to the scriptures. Turn
to 2 Timothy chapter 1. 2 Timothy 1. Now, when we start
to seek to understand the doctrine of Holy Scripture, let us never
Never, never attempt to mold the scriptures to what we want
the scriptures to teach, but rather let us mold our thinking
to the revelation of God's word. And when we speak of salvation
being something done in eternity, it is as plain as the nose on
your face in the very word of Holy Scripture. You're familiar
with Romans 8. Hold your hands to the second
Timothy and listen. whom he did foreknow, them he also did predestinate,
to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be
the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover, whom he did predestinate,
them he also called, and whom he called, them he also justified,
and whom he justified, them he also glorified. Now, God, that's
talking about something that took place in eternity. God chose
us, He knew us, He foreordained us, He called us, He justified
us, and He glorified us in Christ from eternity. Look here in 2
Timothy 1, verse 9. God hath saved us. I love the
way Paul uses language deliberately. H-A-T-H, that means it's done.
When did he do it? And called us within holy calling,
not according to our works, not a possibility that your works
had anything to do with it, but according to his own purpose
and grace, watch it now, which was given us in Christ Jesus
before the world began. Well, Brother Don, that looks
like Paul's telling us that God saved us and called us without
anything we do, not according to our works, but according to
His own purpose and grace, and that His purpose, His grace,
His calling, His salvation was given to us in Christ before
the world began. Well, that's exactly what it
looks like it did. That's just exactly what it looks like. Well,
boy, that's profound. That's mysterious. That's wonderful.
That's wonderful. Now, what happens when a person
is born of God? What happens when we believe
on the Lord Jesus Christ? Brother Lynch has been stressing
this so very clearly in his lessons in Galatians. Our faith in Christ. does nothing to alter our standing
in relationship with God insofar as God is concerned. Our faith
in Christ contributes nothing to the accomplishment of salvation
and our acceptance with Christ. But rather, our faith in Christ
is the result of what God Almighty did for us in Christ before the
world began. Look at it, verse 10. But is
now made manifest. Manifest to who? You. made manifest
in us, made manifest now, for faith is the substance of things
hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith doesn't accomplish
it, faith reveals it. Now it's made manifest by the
appearing of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death
and brought life and immortality to life. Oh, but that's talking
about something that Christ did when he came and died. Yeah,
but it's brought to light, look at it, through the gospel. God comes by the power of His
Spirit and causes the word of the gospel to come to you in
saving power, giving you life and faith in Christ. And now,
what God did for you from eternity is brought to light in your soul
and you lift your heart to God Almighty and say, Abba, Father,
We were saved then in eternity. And we were saved at Calvary. The Lord Jesus Christ, in the
fullness of time, in justice, accomplished our redemption when
he died upon the cursed tree, who was delivered for, because
of our offenses, and was raised again for, because of our justification. Listen to the word. Christ Hath,
there it is again, Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of
the law. Redemption is not something that
is a process. Redemption is not something that
occurs as you experience it. Redemption in this legal aspect
of it, that is the purchase of our souls out from under the
curse of the law was done at Calvary when Christ Jesus shed
his blood and cried, it's finished. Needed by the blood of goats
and calves, but with his own blood, he entered in once into
the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. And
we have been saved in the past experimentally. There came a
time when you who were dead in trespasses and sins, there came a time when you who
walked according to the course of this world just like everybody
else. There came a time when you and I who deserved eternal
damnation just like everybody else. There came a time when
you and I who lived in enmity against God just like everybody
else. There came a time when God Almighty
stepped into our lives But God, who is rich in mercy, for his
great love wherewith he loved us, hath quickened us together
with Christ. By grace are ye saved. God Almighty came in his grace
and stopped us in our mad rush to hell and gave us life and
faith in Christ. But that's not the whole of salvation. Not only is it true that we have
been saved, we are being saved. Look at our text again. The text
says, upon Mount Zion shall be deliverance. That is to say,
salvation abides there all the time. Not only have we been saved,
but we also are saved continually from all evil. We must learn
to quit thinking about salvation as something done at a certain
time in a certain place in the past and now over. is the beginning of sanctification
in experience. And sanctification is the lifelong
outworking of salvation in our experience. Grace will always
be needed, day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment, until
we enter into glory. The gospel we preach is described
as the power of God and the salvation to such as are being saved. being saved. I am being saved. And I'll be honest with you,
while we recognize and understand and rejoice in the fact that
salvation is something done for us, it is essential. It is essential. that it's something being done
in us. We're being saved. Aren't you
glad? We're being saved from ourselves,
being saved continually, being saved day by day, being saved
hour by hour. Upon Mount Zion shall be deliverance. So that constantly God's providence
is working our deliverance. Upon Mount Zion shall be deliverance
because God Almighty perseveres in grace and preserves us in
His grace. Upon Mount Zion shall be deliverance
by never ending unabated supply, constantly superabounding, all-sufficient
grace. We have trouble without, and
we turn to our God who gives deliverance. We have trouble
within, and we cry to our God who gives deliverance. We find
temptation on all sides, and for all who are tempted, our
God makes a way of escape, Christ Jesus the Lord. We find ourselves
fallen. Fallen, fallen, fallen. A thousand times a day, fallen. Fallen more often than we ever
begin to realize. And when we find ourselves falling,
Lindsay, as often as we fall, He lifts us up. Upon Mount Zion
shall be deliverance continually. Deliverance from all foes, inward
and outward. Deliverance from all trials,
physical, spiritual, mental, emotional. Deliverance continually
upon Mount Zion. And blessed be His name, We shall
be saved. Listen to this. You can find
it in Romans 13. It is high time to awake out of sleep. For now
is our salvation nearer than when we believed. I have been saved. I am being
saved. And I shall be saved today, and
tomorrow, and the next day, and all the tomorrows after that,
and for eternity. We shall be saved. And now is
our salvation nearer than when we believe. I don't know how
near it is, but it's nearer. I don't know how soon it shall
appear, but it's nearer. I don't know when it shall be
ultimately accomplished, but it's nearer. What does that mean?
That means the perfection which God gave me in eternity is nearer. than when I first believed. That
means the enjoyment of everlasting bliss which God gave me in Christ
from eternity is nearer than when I believed. That means the
everlasting enjoyment of God's everlasting perfect accomplishment
in me and for me by Christ is nearer than when I believed.
That means Christ is nearer than when I believed. That means That
perfect knowledge, that perfect love, that perfect enjoyment
of Christ is nearer than when I believed. Now this deliverance,
this salvation is the deliverance, the salvation of a remnant. Our
text clearly implies that and Joel clearly states it. There
is a remnant according to the election of grace. A remnant. I look out this congregation
and I see a remnant. A remnant of almost every family
represented here. Just a remnant. Just a remnant. Isn't that amazing? Just a remnant. A remnant of the rest of society. A remnant of the rest of the
world. What does that mean? A remnant
is that which is left. It's the lesser, more insignificant,
more worthless, more useless part of the whole. Those who
are saved by Christ are the despised, rejected, useless leftovers of
a fallen race. Oh, it's the glory of God to
enrich himself with remnants. He takes that which is despised,
that which is useless. That which nobody else would
have. That which nobody else wants. And says this is mine. This is my remnant. And by this
remnant I'll glorify myself. A remnant compared to the rest
is a little. Those who are saved at any time
in history are comparatively few. I'll make no guesses. about how many will be saved
in the end. I know there will be a multitude which no man can
number, 10,000 times 10,000 and thousands of thousands. But as
it appears at any one time in the history of this world and
throughout the history of the world, looking at things in the most
charitable, broadest way possible, anyone with any sense at all
concerning what faith in Christ is, must acknowledge that the
saved in this world are few. The whole world lieth in wickedness. But those who are in Christ are
arisen. And our Lord gives us this encouraging
word. Fear not, little flock. It is
your father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. The fact that we are few in this
world, then, is no cause for despair. If God has saved us,
though we be but few and an insignificant few, He will accomplish His purposes
in us and by us. He saves neither by many nor
by few. His own right arm gets Him the
victory, so we go forth conquering and to conquer through the gospel
of his grace and the time shall come when the kingdoms of this
world shall indeed be subdued unto Christ Jesus the Lord by
the gospel of his grace and shall be made to be the kingdoms of
our God and of his Christ. That remnant saved by Christ
is a remnant chosen by grace. In Mount Zion, the escaped remnant
are men and women, chosen, elected, predestined to deliverance. Now,
listen carefully to this. I read this from Mr. Spurgeon
the other day, and I thought this was just outstanding. If
you believe that God has chosen you, nothing should daunt you. More courage comes into the heart
through a grip of the doctrine of election than by any other
truth. Let a man believe that God has
ordained him to this or that, and he goes forward with irresistible
resolve. The man is impressed with his
own election and crashes through every difficulty as though he
were a bolt of iron shot from some tremendous cannon by a master
marksman. God chose me! Now what you gonna
do? God chose me! What shall stand against me?
God Almighty chose me! Who's going to hinder me? Listen
to this. He goes on to say, Who shall
hinder my accomplishing that to which God has appointed me?
I shall fulfill my destiny. Who shall hinder me? Will you
hear me, child of God? Will you hear me? You shall fulfill
your appointed destiny exactly. And all hell won't prevent it
or even hinder it, but rather will serve to fulfill the destiny
to which God has appointed you. Can you get a hold of that? You
shall fulfill your destiny. It is written, the election hath
obtained it, and so it shall forever be. Deliverance remains
with the people whom the Lord has chosen. Now be sure you don't
miss this. This remnant chosen, redeemed,
and saved by grace is set for the deliverance of others. Come
back to Genesis chapter 12 for a moment. God's purpose of grace with any
man doesn't end with that man. God's purpose of grace toward
Shelby Fortner, toward Larry Brown, toward Don Fortner, toward
Judy Estes, God's purpose of grace with regard to us does
not end with us. God's purpose of grace toward
this assembly does not end with this present company. His promise
and His purpose is to make us instruments of good to others.
Look at the very last word of God's promise to Abraham in Genesis
12 verse 2. You got it? What did God say
to Abraham? What did he say? Thou shalt be
a blessing. It is my nature to be a curse. It is my nature to be a hindrance. It is my nature to hurt. It is
my nature to corrupt. It is my nature to destroy. It is my nature to tear down. But God Almighty says to Abraham
and his seed, and what you read this morning means I'm one of
them. He's my father. Thou shalt be a blessing. Oh God, make me that to you. A blessing. A blessing. Without question. This is referred
to in chapter, Obadiah chapter 1 verse 21. Look at it. And saviors. That's not a mistranslation. You see that? Underline it. Saviors. Plural. Many saviors. Saviors shall come up upon Mount
Zion to judge the Mount of Esau. And the kingdom shall be the
Lord's. Now, there's no question there's
just one Savior. Christ Jesus the Lord alone put
away sin. Christ Jesus the Lord alone brought
in everlasting righteousness. Christ Jesus the Lord alone can
give you life eternal. Christ Jesus alone can bring
us to glory. But our text declares that there
are saviors on Mount Zion. This refers to gospel preachers,
yeah. And it refers to the saints of God, from one generation to
the other. You see, when God chooses a company
of men to eternal life, He chooses them that they might be the salt
of the earth and the light of the world in their generation.
He chose Israel and favored that nation to receive the oracles
of His worship and His word, to preserve His worship and His
word for the ages to come. And He has chosen us. He brought
us into Mount Zion. That finding deliverance ourselves,
we might proclaim deliverance and bring deliverance to others.
He says, you shall be my witnesses. You are his heralds of goodness. Out of Zion shall go forth the
law and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. Has God saved
you? Has he taken you out from among
the fallen mass of mankind? Has he chosen you by his distinguishing
grace? He didn't do it so that you could
teach school, or build houses, or sell insurance, or rule nations,
but rather He did it so that you might in the place where
He's put you, with the means He's given you, be in His hand,
saviors to a chosen multitude yet to be called by His grace.
What an astounding, astounding God takes this useless remnant,
saves them by His grace, and says, now, I'm going to take
you, the nothings and nobodies, and
I'm going to bring mighty folks to be nothings and nobodies.
I'm going to take you, useless, worthless insignificant things
I'm going to take you objects of my love robed in the righteousness
of my Son imparted by grace in my good I'm going to take you
and I'm going to give you to be lights in the world to give
the light to the knowledge of the glory of God in the face
of Christ to multitudes yet to come oh now For the first time
in my life, I have a reason to live. A reason to live. You try to find a reason to live.
You try it in your job. You try to find a reason to live.
You try it in providing security for your family. Go ahead and
try it. You try to find a reason to live in providing for your
future. Go ahead. Give it a shot. You
try to find a reason to live in chasing fame in this world. Give it a shot. Try to find a
reason to live in chasing after everything the world seeks. Give
it a shot. And you'll be just as insane
as the rest of the world. Oh, the children of God. We have a reason to live. And
that reason is the building of God's kingdom and the glory of
our God and our Savior by the gospel. There shall come deliverance
of Zion. There shall be saviors on Mount
Zion. And they'll judge Esau. Now that's
the first word of promise. Here's the second one. Obviously,
I've got to skim the surface here. and there shall be holiness. What does that mean? It is through
holiness that deliverance is established in Zion. Holiness
is the essential link in this golden chain of blessedness.
Without holiness there could be no deliverance, no possessing
of deliverance. But holiness spoken of here is
not holiness of our making. This holiness is the promise
of grace, the work of grace, and the result of grace. Our
Deliverer Himself is Christ, the Holy One of God. Our great
Savior obtained deliverance for us on the grounds of justice
satisfied, on the grounds of absolute holiness, righteousness,
justice, and truth. God's great object in deliverance
is to make us holy and without blame before Him. And Mount Zion
is his holy hill where he has set the deliverer. The sentence
might be read, upon Mount Zion shall be deliverance and there
shall be a sanctuary or a holy place. Because you see, the church
of God is the house and temple of God. It's his holy place.
He says, this is my rest forever. I will dwell forever there. I have desired it. When we come
together in the name of Christ, The Spirit of God dwells in us. The Son of God is present with
us. God the Father embraces us. We are living stones of a living
temple wherein the Lord Jehovah deigns to make himself known. Every true gospel church, be
it large or small, Every true gospel church, be it famed or
unknown, every true gospel church is described by the Apostle Paul
this way. It is a habitation of God through
the Spirit. Now this is what I was talking
about, David. When we come together in Christ's name to worship our
God, to hear from Him, Something mystical takes place. This ascending
man gathers around the throne of God in Mount Zion. And God's
in our midst. Just as surely as he was there
in the Holy of Holies when Aaron went in with the blood of atonement
and there God showed his glory on the mercy seat. This is God's
holy temple. The people of God, you see, are
a holy people. They are made holy by grace,
with His spotless garments on, holy as the Holy One. As He is,
so are we in this world. The gospel we preach is holy
doctrine. The ordinances of God are holy
ordinances. Baptism, the Lord's Supper, by
these days we proclaim God's holiness in symbol. Upon Mount
Zion shall be deliverance. That's the first promise. And
there shall be holiness. That's the second. Now very quickly,
let me show you this third great promise. And the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. Now this is not written for Jacob's
sake alone. But for us also to whom it shall be given if we
believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead.
These possessions are described here as Jacob's possessions.
That means they are totally undeserved possessions. That means they
are possessions altogether by grace. They are described here
as Jacob's possessions. That means they are eternal covenant
possessions. Read Ephesians chapter 1. All
spiritual blessings. The love of God. Election. Redemption. Forgiveness. Acceptance
into beloved. Everlasting salvation and inheritance. The earnest of the Spirit. All
these are eternal covenant possessions. They are blood bought possessions.
Possessions which He obtained for us when He obtained eternal
redemption for us. Possessions which our forerunner
has already laid hold of and holds on our behalf in heaven.
Their possessions, however, to be possessed by the sons of Jacob. They are ours. They're described in the text.
They already belong to Jacob. But it says, Jacob, the house
of Jacob, shall possess their possessions. What on earth is
that talking about? Shall possess their possessions. We are to possess them by faith
in Christ. Faith in Christ doesn't earn
the possessions. Faith in Christ doesn't produce
the possessions. Faith in Christ doesn't supply
the possessions. Faith in Christ possesses the
possessions. Let me see if I can show you
this. Christ is ours. He's a treasure
chest in whom were hid all the riches of wisdom and grace from
God Almighty. He is our treasure chest. It
is ours to open the chest and take in hand all the riches of
the chest. He is a fountain of grace, boundless
and overflowing. It is ours to dive into the fountain
and drink deep to the satisfaction of our souls of the rich grace
found in Him. You see, it's possible for a
person to have great possessions and to be in practicality as
poor as dirt. because he lives like a miser.
You've known folks like that. They've got plenty, but they
act and live as though they didn't have a frazzling thing and scared
to death they might never get another dime. Wouldn't spend
anything. Oh, no, I couldn't buy that.
Couldn't buy that. They could go have tailor-made
suits, but they'd rather go to the yard sale and buy them because
I'm going to save my money. So they live like paupers, and they've
got scabs of money. How many of us do so as believers? I'm washed in the blood of the
Lamb. Why can't I walk in the cleansing
of that blood? I've received the atonement. Why don't I possess the peace
of God that follows total justification? The peace of God that passeth
all understanding is mine. God says it is. Then let me possess
it. Let me possess my possession.
The throne of grace is ours. The mercy seat is ours. God says
it is. Then let us come boldly to the
throne of grace and obtain, walk away with mercy and grace in
every time of need.
