Isaiah 42:1-4
Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
2 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.
3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

Okay. Now we're gonna take a
look for a few moments at Isaiah 42. And I preached from this
portion of scripture many times, but it's been four or five years
since I have done so. So as the old fella used to say,
we're gonna go back to the well and get another drink. I'm taking
the title for the message from what is said in verse four. Speaking
of the Lord Jesus Christ, the one who is the elect of God,
the one who is the beloved of the Lord, in whom the Lord God
Almighty does find great delight. And God says of his Messiah and
his Christ, he shall not fail. You see that? I don't need a
God that's a failure, do you? I don't need a salvation that
will fail in the day of God's judgment. I need an unfailing
Savior. I need one who cannot fail. As the old saying goes, failure
with Him is impossible. It is impossible. The Lord Jesus
Christ cannot fail in any aspect of His redeeming work. or His
salvation because He is God, our Savior. God, as revealed
in Scripture, cannot fail. He says, I've spoken it, I'll
bring it to pass. I've purposed it, I will do it. And everything that God undertakes
for His covenant people, write these words in bold, big letters,
successful. victorious, complete, eternal
in all aspects of his eternal purpose, his decrees, his determination,
his declaration, THEY SHALL BE DONE. HE SAID IN ISAIAH 46, JUST
A COUPLE PAGES OVER, HE SAID, I'VE SPOKEN IT, I'LL BRING IT
TO PASS, I'VE PURPOSED IT, I WILL DO IT. HE WORKETH ALL THINGS
AFTER THE COUNSEL OF HIS WILL. NOW, LET'S BEGIN, AND I'LL WORK
DOWN TO VERSE 4. LOOK AT VERSE 1 FOR JUST A MOMENT.
I LOVE WHEN THE LORD STARTS A VERSE WITH THE WORD, BEHOLD. BEHOLD. YOU GAZE UPON THIS WITH EARNEST
CONTEMPLATION. BEHOLD MY SERVANT. THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE GOD-MAN
MEDIATOR, IS THE RIGHTEOUS SERVANT OF THE LORD. HE'S CALLED THAT
IN ISAIAH. GOD CALLS HIM MY RIGHTEOUS SERVANT. He is the bond slave, the willing,
loving bond slave of God Almighty. He said, I didn't come to do
my own will. I came to do the will of Him
that sent me, a servant that was absolutely faithful and obedient
to every jot and tittle of the law of God. Now people think
about the law of God, they think of the what? They think of the
10 commandments, don't they? You know, there were 800 precepts
of that law, and the Lord Jesus Christ, as a righteous servant
of God, obeyed every precept of that law and died under the
penalty of that law as our substitute. Behold, my servant, and God said,
it's the one whom I have chosen, he's my elect, I uphold him. It's interesting, this word elect
is the first time it's ever used in scripture. It's used right
here. It's used right here. And who's he talking about? Talking
about the servant, the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ. The one
that God said, I will lay help upon one that is mighty. I uphold
my elect, the one God said, this is my beloved son in whom I am
well pleased. He is the elect. WE'RE CHOSEN
IN HIM. WHATEVER ELECTION IS, AND I KNOW
WHAT IT IS, IT'S GOD'S SOVEREIGN CHOICE, BUT WE'RE CHOSEN IN CHRIST. HE IS THE BELOVED. HE IS THE
ELECT. NOW, ELECTION IS JUST SO. GOD CHOSE A PEOPLE. IN THAT ETERNAL
COVENANT, OUR LORD JESUS REFERRED TO THOSE PEOPLE AS ALL THAT THE
FATHER HATH GIVEN TO ME. THEY WILL COME TO ME AND I'LL
NEVER CAST THEM OUT. WE LOVE THE DOCTRINE OF ELECTION
BECAUSE CHRIST IS THE ELECT. YOU CAN'T PREACH ELECTION WITHOUT
PREACHING CHRIST BECAUSE CHRIST IS THE ELECT OF GOD. AND THEN
HE SAYS THIS ONE WHO IS A SERVANT, THE ONE WHOM I UPHOLD, GOD THE
FATHER SAID IN WHOM MY SOUL DELIGHTETH." HE ALWAYS WAS PLEASED WITH THE
LORD JESUS CHRIST. HE ALWAYS DELIGHTS IN HIS FAITHFULNESS
AS THE COVENANT SURETY. AND THEN HE SAYS CONCERNING THE
COMING OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE GOD-MAN MEDIATOR, HE SAID,
I PUT MY SPIRIT UPON HIM. YOU REMEMBER IN THE BOOK OF JOHN,
CHAPTER 3, HE HAD THE SPIRIT WITHOUT MEASURE, REMEMBER? TURN
OVER HERE TO ISAIAH 61. THIS IS ANOTHER SCRIPTURE DESCRIBING
THE MESSIAH, AND THE LORD QUOTES THIS IN LUKE, CHAPTER 4. BUT
IN ISAIAH 61, VERSE 1, THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD GOD IS UPON ME, because
he hath anointed me to preach the gospel, to preach good tidings
unto the meek. He hath sent me to bound the
brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening
of the prison to them that are bound." So the Lord Jesus Christ
as God He has all power. He has the total, total weight
and power and character of the Godhead. But as the God-man mediator,
he had the Spirit of God without measure upon his humanity. That's what it says in John chapter
three. I put my Spirit upon him. That
is, he's the anointed. That's what the word Christ means. HE'S THE LORD, HE'S THE CHRIST,
HE'S THE ANOINTED WITH THE SPIRIT OF GOD IN ALL OF HIS OFFICE.
YOU REMEMBER HIS OFFICE? PROPHET, PRIEST, AND KING. PROPHET TO REVEAL, PRIEST TO
REDEEM, AND A KING TO... WHAT DOES A KING DO? HE REIGNS. HE REIGNS. ISAIAH 32, YOU REMEMBER
VERSE 1? THIS KING REIGNS IN RIGHTEOUSNESS. AND THEN IT SAYS IN VERSE 2, HE SHALL NOT CRY, NOR LIFT UP,
NOR CAUSE HIS VOICE TO BE HEARD IN THE STREET. NOW THE LORD JESUS
CHRIST WAS A PREACHER OF THE GOSPEL. HE WENT OUT PUBLICLY
IN GALILEE AND IN JERUSALEM AND HE WENT OUT AND PREACHED THE
GOSPEL. BUT YOU KNOW MOST PEOPLE IGNORED
HIM. He didn't go around and browbeat
people and beat up on people and cry in the face of people.
He didn't lift up his voice in a menacing way or an unusual
way. He lifted up his voice telling
the truth of God and his voice nor caused his voice to be heard
in the street. Many people ignored him, but
I tell you who did hear him He said, my sheep, they hear my
voice and I know them and they do follow me. He did lift up
his voice and he said, my sheep, oh, they'll hear my voice. He
that is God, is of God, heareth God's word. But the Lord did
not and does not seek to build up an earthly kingdom, but a
spiritual kingdom. He said, my kingdom is not of
this world, you remember? His ministry was like no other.
His ministry was not to gain the applause and recognition
of men, but to honor and the glory of God the Father. The Lord Jesus Christ did not,
nor does not, use and employ means of earthly kings to gain
His goal IN SAVING HIS PEOPLE, HE SAID, THE WEAPONS OF HIS KINGDOM
ARE SPIRITUAL, NOT CARNAL. HE SPEAKS THE WORD TO THE HEARTS
OF HIS PEOPLE, AND THEY DO HEAR HIM. NOW LOOK AT VERSE 3, AND
THOSE WHO DO HEAR HIS WORD, THEY ARE BRUISED BY THE FALL, AND THEY ARE BROKEN BY SIN, and
they're like a dimly lit smoking flax. He will not put them out
or quench them. He shall bring forth salvation
to victory and with his truth. We see here in verse three, his
tender compassion toward his elect. The Lord is long suffering
to his people. LONG SUFFERING TO HIS PEOPLE.
YOU REMEMBER IN VERSE 16 OF THIS SAME CHAPTER, I'LL BRING THE
BLIND BY WAY THEY KNEW NOT. I'LL LEAD THEM IN PATHS THAT
THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN. I WILL MAKE DARKNESS LIGHT BEFORE
THEM AND CROOKED THINGS STRAIGHT. THESE THINGS WILL I DO UNTO THEM
AND I WILL NOT FORSAKE THEM. YOU SEE THE LORD IS LONG SUFFERING
TOWARD HIS ELECT. NOT WILLING THAT ANY OF HIS ELECT
PERISH, BUT THAT HE SHOULD BRING THEM UNTO ETERNAL LIFE. REMEMBER
OUR LORD SAID TO THOSE WHO WERE LABORING AND HEAVY LADEN, BROKEN
WITH SIN, YOU REMEMBER WHAT HE SAID, COME UNTO ME AND I'LL GIVE
YOU REST. HE'S NIGH THEM OF A BROKEN HEART, SAVE US SUCH AS BE OF
A CONTRITE SPIRIT. THE LORD JESUS CHRIST CAME TO
SAVE SINNERS, AND TO STRENGTHEN THEM BY HIS GRACE, AND TO GIVE
THEM SALVATION. THAT'S WHY HE CAME. HE'S THE
SAVIOR OF SINNERS. HE SAID, I DIDN'T COME TO CALL
THE RIGHTEOUS, SINNERS TO REPENTANCE. THAT'S A FAITHFUL SAYING, PAUL
SAID, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST CAME TO SAVE SINNERS. THOSE WHO HAVE
BEEN CONVICTED OF THEIR SIN, who know the frailties of their
own flesh and the unrighteousness of their own heart, the Lord
will bind up the brokenhearted." Now, before the Lord does that,
He teaches us what we are. He shows us that we're sinners.
You see, the way that He clothes us HE FIRST STRIPS US, AND THE
WAY THAT HE HEALS US, HE FIRST WOUNDS US, AND BREAKS US, AND
OPERATES ON US. AND THEN THE LAST PART OF VERSE
3, HE SAID, HE SHALL BRING FORTH VICTORY. HE SHALL BRING FORTH
JUDGMENT UNTO TRUTH. HE IS THE WAY. HE IS THE TRUTH. I've never read one time when
we studied through, and we've studied through Matthew, we've
studied verse by verse all the way through Mark and Matthew
and Luke and John, not once but several times, but I've never
read one time when a needy, broken-hearted, guilty, vile sinner came to the
Lord Jesus Christ as a mercy beggar and was turned away, not
one time. blind Bartimaeus, crying for
mercy, and the Lord healed him. Go on and on, that leper who
came to the Lord and fell down and worshiped him, full of leprosy. Remember what he said? Lord,
if you will, you can make me clean. And the Lord said, I will,
I will be clean, be clean. Mercy Beckers. We were doing
a transcription of Brother Mahan's sermon yesterday. and I proofread
it today, and there was a statement in there, in that sermon, and
I wrote it down on this point. Here's what Brother Henry said.
The worst thing they said of the Lord Jesus Christ, he's the
friend of sinners. Remember? The worst thing they said, he's
a friend of sinners. Best thing I've ever heard. I'm
a sinner. That's the best news I've ever
heard. I'm a sinner. Now, verse four,
that gets us down to verse four. He shall not fail. This one who
is loved of God, this one who is a tender, compassionate savior,
this one who is a great shepherd of the sheep, who speaks a word
to the weary, he binds up the brokenhearted, He shall not fail. He shall not be discouraged or
defeated till he has judgment, till he has set or established
justice, honored the law of God in the earth. And the isles,
they wait for his law. The far off places, our Lord
said, go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature,
to every creature. Now, SUCCESS. WHAT A GLORIOUS, COMFORTING STATEMENT
IS GIVEN TO US HERE. THE LORD JESUS CHRIST CANNOT
FAIL. CANNOT FAIL TO ACCOMPLISH ALL
OF GOD'S PURPOSE IN SAVING HIS ELECT. HE CANNOT BE FRUSTRATED. THE GRACE OF GOD CANNOT BE FRUSTRATED. THE GRACE OF GOD KNOWS NOTHING
OF DEFEAT. WE READ IN ISAIAH 53, THE PLEASURE
OF THE LORD SHALL PROSPER IN HIS HAND. HE SAID, HE SHALL SEE
THE TRAVAIL OF HIS SOUL AND BE SATISFIED. AND THEN IT SAYS IN
VERSE 13 OF OUR TEXT, HE SHALL PREVAIL AGAINST HIS ENEMIES. Now, I want us to find rest and
sweet comfort in this promise of God, our Savior, that He will
not fail the Father, God's purpose, but He will not fail His covenant
people. We can trust Him every time,
all the time, in all things. Trust Him. God is a refuge for
us. He shall not fail, has not, nor
will ever fail, or be defeated. WE WORSHIP A CONQUERING, VICTORIOUS,
SUCCESSFUL LORD JESUS CHRIST. NOW, I LOVE WHAT PAUL SAYS, THANKS
BEING THE GOD WHO'S GIVEN US A VICTORY THROUGH OUR LORD JESUS
CHRIST. REMEMBER WHEN YOU WAS A KID AND
YOU USED TO CHOOSE UP SIDES? WE USED TO PLAY BACKYARD FOOTBALL.
YOU REMEMBER? YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO BE ON THE
WINNING TEAM, DIDN'T YOU? I DID. I ALWAYS SAY, PICK ME, PICK ME. I WANT TO BE ON THE WINNING TEAM.
PICK ME. We are in Christ. We are more
than conquerors through him that loved us. Believers are not losers. We're winners because Christ
is a winner. He's won all things. He's won
all victories for us. We cannot say about ourselves
that we shall not fail, but we can say that of our substitute.
He shall not fail. You see, we're born failures. Great failures. Defeated by sin,
which brought upon us great weakness and total depravity, we've all
sinned and come short of the glory of God. All of us have
sinned. The wages of sin is death. In
the flesh no man completes God. By the deeds of the law shall
no flesh be justified in God's sight. We have no ability to
believe the gospel, or honor the law of God, or work up a
righteousness. We're totally dead in sin, without
God, without hope, and without Christ. Failures. But he shall
not fail. And because he wins, we are more
than conquerors to him that loved us, and gave himself for us. It'll gladden your heart and
rejoice your heart to know that God has provided for us a perfect
Savior, a complete Savior who was able to save to the uttermost
successful and victorious. He cannot fail. He shall not,
and he did not, and he will not, because he cannot. He's God,
our Savior. Now, I've got three things I
want to bring on this one point. He cannot fail in what he has
done. He cannot fail in what he is
doing. AND HE CANNOT FAIL IN WHAT HE
WILL YET DO. WHAT HE HAS DONE, WHAT HE IS
DOING, AND WHAT HE WILL YET DO, HE CANNOT FAIL IN ANY ASPECT
OF HIS REDEMPTIVE PURPOSE. NOW, WHAT HAS HE DONE? ISAIAH
HERE, WHEN WE READ ISAIAH 42, 1, HE'S LOOKING FUTURE, 700 YEARS
BEFORE THE MESSIAH WOULD COME INTO FLESH. BUT HE SAYS OF THE
ONE THAT'S GONNA COME, HE CAN'T FAIL. HOW CAN HE SAY THAT? BECAUSE
GOD GAVE HIM THE WORD TO WRITE. HE CANNOT FAIL. ISAIAH'S LOOKING
FUTURE ABOUT THE COMING MESSIAH AND SAYS HE CANNOT FAIL. AND
WE LOOKING BACK TO THE PAST SAY THE LORD JESUS CHRIST HAS NOT
FAILED. WE LOOKING BACK NOW, WE'RE ON
THE OTHER SIDE OF THAT HISTORY AND WE CAN LOOK BACK ACCORDING
TO THE WORD HERE He did not fail. God said he would not and he
did not. Now the Lord Jesus Christ did not fail to fulfill all scripture,
every type, picture and shadow. Remember our Lord said in Luke
24, I fulfilled all things written in the law and the Psalms and
the prophets. He fulfilled all things for us. He didn't fail
to do everything that God said he would do. He fulfilled every
type and picture and you can talk about the Passover lamb,
the brazen serpent lifted up, the smitten rock, all those things
are a picture of the gospel and the Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled
everyone to jot and tittle perfection. EVERY PROPHECY CONCERNING HIS
DEATH, THE TIME, THE MANNER, THE CIRCUMSTANCES WERE ALL WRITTEN
IN THE OLD TESTAMENT, IN HIS COMING, HIS LIVING AND DYING,
IN HIS RESURRECTION, HIS ASCENSION, HE DID NOT FAIL TO ACCOMPLISH
ALL THINGS WRITTEN OF HIM. WE READ IN FIRST CORINTHIANS
15 THAT HE DIED FOR OUR SINS, HOW THAT HE DIED FOR OUR SINS
ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES. He fulfilled every scripture
written of him. All the Old Testament scripture.
He fulfilled all of it. Secondly, he did not fail to
satisfy God's holy law and justice. We read here in Isaiah 42, excuse
me, Isaiah 42, 21. And I quote this all the time. You probably wonder where does
he get that from? THE LORD IS WELL PLEASED FOR
HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS' SAKE, HE WILL MAGNIFY HIS OWN LAW AND MAKE
IT HONORABLE. REMEMBER OUR LORD SAID IN MATTHEW
5, I DIDN'T COME TO DESTROY THE LAW, I CAME TO HONOR IT, AND
HE DID PERFECTLY. IN HIS LIFE, HE OBEYED EVERY
PRECEPT OF THAT LAW. SUCH A HIGH PRIEST BECAME US
WHO WAS HOLY, HARMLESS, UNDEFILED, AND SEPARATE FROM SIN. OBEDIENCE OF ONE MAN, MANY SHALL
BE MADE RIGHTEOUS IN CHRIST. HE HONORED THE LAW OF GOD FOR
US. HIS OBEDIENCE IN EVERY PRECEPT OF THAT LAW, WHY IS THAT SO SIGNIFICANT
TO THE BELIEVER AND TO THE LORD'S CHURCH? WHAT HE DID, HE DID AS
A REPRESENTATIVE MAN. HIS FAITHFULNESS, HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS
HAS BEEN PUT TO OUR Blessed is that man to whom the Lord imputeth
righteousness without works." I mean, preacher, you're not
going about to establish a righteousness of your own? Absolutely not. I'm resting in Christ, who is
the Lord, our righteousness. In his life, he honored the law
of God, satisfied every precept of that law. In his death, he
satisfied what? The penalty of that law. The
law of God says the guilty must die. the Lord Jesus Christ, taking
our sin to himself, bearing our sin in his own body on the tree,
made his soul an offering for sin, guilty, guilty before God
because of our sin being laid upon him. And he redeemed us
from the curse of that law, being made a curse for us. God made
him SIN FOR US WHO KNEW NO SIN, THAT WE MIGHT BE MADE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS
OF GOD IN CHRIST. THAT'S OUR BLESSED HOPE. HE DIDN'T
FAIL TO DO THAT. THE LORD JESUS CHRIST DID NOT
FAIL TO MAKE COMPLETE, DEFINITE ATONEMENT FOR OUR SIN. HE APPEARED
ONCE IN THE END OF THE AGE TO PUT AWAY SIN BY THE SACRIFICE
OF HIMSELF. TO SAY OR IMPLY THAT CHRIST DIED
FOR ALL OF THE SINS OF ALL MEN, YET SOME END UP IN HELL ANYWAY,
MAKES HIS ATONEMENT A FAILURE. I THINK WHAT THEY SAY IN RELIGION
TODAY, THEY SAY HE DIED FOR ALL OF THE SINS OF ALL MEN. WELL,
IF ALL MEN ARE NOT JUSTIFIED, AND IF SOME MEN GO TO HELL ANYWAY,
THEN WHAT DOES HIS DEATH HAVE TO DO WITH SALVATION? IF HE DIED
FOR THOSE IN HELL, HE'S A FAILURE. But I've got good news. There's
nobody gonna perish for whom he died. He made atonement for
their sin. He justified them with his own
blood. Call his name Jesus, he shall
save his people from their sin. For by the one offering he has
perfected forever them that are sanctified. God said their sin
and their iniquity will I remember no more. They're gone, as far
as the east is from the west. How far is that? You tell me. Infinite. Infinite. I ran into an airline pilot one
time who told me, after having preached a sermon and mentioned
that, as far as the east is from the west, and that's from Psalm
103, and the airline pilot said to me, well, I'm glad he didn't
say north and south. I said, how's that? HE SAID YOU
START AT NORTH AND COME BACK AROUND TO THE NORTH. HE SAID
IF YOU EAST AND WEST AT INFINITY, NORTH AND SOUTH COME BACK AROUND
TO EACH OTHER. HE SAID AS FAR AS THE EAST IS
FROM THE WEST THAT MEANS OUR SIN IS TOTALLY GONE FOREVER. CHRIST DID NOT FAIL TO BRING
IN EVERLASTING RIGHTEOUSNESS FOR HIS PEOPLE AND FREELY GIVES
THAT UNTO THEM. He that spared not his own son,
but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also
freely give us all things? Christ did not fail to defeat
every enemy we had. Sin, death, hell, and the grave.
He's victorious. He said, I'm he that liveth and
was dead. Oh, behold, I'm alive forevermore. I have the keys
of hell and death. So he shall not fail in what
he has done for us. Secondly, he shall not fail in
what he is doing right now. He ever lives to intercede for
us. He shall not fail to irresistibly
and powerfully call out his elect from the four corners of the
earth. CREATURES IN CHRIST JESUS. HE'S CALLED US OUT OF DARKNESS
IN HIS MARVELOUS LIGHT. BELOVED, WE ARE BOUND TO GIVE
THANKS TO GOD FOR YOU BECAUSE GOD HATH FROM THE BEGINNING CHOSEN
YOU UNTO SALVATION THROUGH SANCTIFICATION OF THE SPIRIT WHICH LEADS TO
BELIEF OF THE TRUTH WHEREUNTO HE CALLED YOU BY OUR GOSPEL. HE CALLS BY THE GOSPEL. IT PLEASES
GOD THROUGH THE PREACHING OF THE GOSPEL TO CALL OUT HIS PEOPLE.
THAT'S WHY WE SPEND SO MUCH TIME HERE AND RADIO AND TV, INTERNET
ALL OVER, RADIO EVERYWHERE, PREACHING, PREACHING, PREACHING THE GOSPEL.
WE'RE NOT ENTERTAINING FOLKS. WE'RE PREACHING CHRIST. IF YOU
WANT ENTERTAINMENT, YOU GO OVER HERE TO SOME OTHER PLACE. WE'RE
NOT ABOUT ENTERTAINING PEOPLE. IT'S ABOUT PREACHING CHRIST AND
LIFTING UP CHRIST. His gospel will be sent into
all the world and His sheep will hear it and believe it. Christ shall not fail to meet
the need and supply of every needy sinner redeemed by His
grace. My God shall supply all your
need according to his riches in glory through the Lord Jesus
Christ. I mentioned Scott Richardson
in the message on Sunday morning about put that on my tombstone,
but the old guy had a way with quaint sayings, quaint sayings. Someone asked him one time, is Christ enough? IS THE LORD
JESUS CHRIST ENOUGH IN SALVATION? IF THAT'S ALL YOU'VE GOT. IF
HE'S ALL YOU'VE GOT, YOU'VE GOT ENOUGH. YOU'VE GOT EVERYTHING
THAT GOD INTENDED FOR THE SINNER TO HAVE. HE MADE UNTO US WISDOM,
RIGHTEOUSNESS, SANCTIFICATION, AND REDEMPTION. REDEMPTION. CHRIST
SHALL NOT FAIL TO SUSTAIN OUR SOUL AND KEEP US BY HIS GRACE. WE'RE KEPT BY THE POWER OF GOD.
HE SAVES US WITH AN EVERLASTING SALVATION. GOD'S ELECT? DO YOU THINK ONCE GOD SAVES A
SINNER, HE CAN NEVER PERISH? ABSOLUTELY. IF GOD SAVES HIM,
HE'LL NEVER PERISH. NOW, HE CAN MAKE SOME REFORMATION
AND MAKE A RELIGIOUS DECISION, AND BY AND BY, GO THIS WAY AND
THAT WAY, BUT WHEN GOD SAVES A SINNER, RAISES HIM FROM THE
DEAD, MAKES HIM A NEW CREATURE IN CHRIST, HE'S KEPT BY THE POWER
OF GOD THROUGH FAITH IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. CHRIST SHALL NOT
FAIL TO COMFORT US IN OUR TIME OF NEED. COMFORT YE, COMFORT
YE MY PEOPLE. GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT COMFORTS
US WITH CHRIST. HE'S THE COMFORTER. AND HE SHALL
NOT FAIL TO GIVE US GRACE FOR EVERY TRIAL He sends our way. He sends a trial, no doubt about
that. They're called precious trials.
And then he says, I send grace for the trial. Now, here's the
last thing I'll let you go. The Lord Jesus Christ shall not
fail in what he will yet do for his church. What he has done,
he's done it all. What he is doing, he's doing
it all. And what he will yet do, he shall
not fail. He will yet come again and will
not fail to come again and receive us unto himself, that where he
is, we shall be with him forever. He shall not fail to make a new
heaven and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. HE SHALL
NOT FAIL. HE CREATED IN THE BEGINNING GOD
CREATED HEAVEN AND THE EARTH AND HE'S GOING TO MAKE A NEW
HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH WHEREIN DWELLETH RIGHTEOUSNESS WHERE
SIN WILL NEVER EVER ENTER IN AGAIN. THE LORD JESUS CHRIST SHALL NOT
FAIL TO MAKE US JUST LIKE HIMSELF. THAT'S WHAT PREDESTINATION'S
ALL ABOUT. PEOPLE SAY, WELL, I DON'T LIKE
THAT WORD PREDESTINATION. Just take your bible when you
get home and take an ink pen and scratch it out If you don't
like that word it's in the bible four times And more than that
if you count other words that are ordained and for ordained
but SCRIPTURE TEACHES US THAT GOD'S GOING TO POPULATE A HEAVEN.
GOD'S GOING TO POPULATE HEAVEN WITH A PEOPLE JUST LIKE THE LORD
JESUS CHRIST AND PREDESTINATED THEM TO BE JUST LIKE CHRIST. THAT'S WHAT PREDESTINATION'S
ALL ABOUT. CONFORM TO THE IMAGE OF CHRIST.
PREDESTINATED TO THAT END. I TELL YOU WHO BELIEVES THAT. YOU
KNOW WHO BELIEVES THAT? In God's predestinating grace,
those who are predestinated. That's what Brother Earl used
to tell me. Those who were predestinated,
Brother Earl Blackburn. How do we know that Christ shall
not fail? Well, HIS WORD HAS PROMISED US. HE'S IN THRONE. WHEN HE BY HIMSELF
PERVED OUR SIN, HE SAT DOWN ON THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD. OF ALL
THE EXCEEDING GREAT AND PRECIOUS PROMISES OF THE GOSPEL, NOT ONE
WORD SHALL FAIL. NOT ONE. ALL SHALL BE FULFILLED,
ACCOMPLISHED SUCCESSFULLY, ETERNALLY, TO THE GLORY OF GOD. Remember
the last words of Joshua before he passed away. He said of all
that God had promised Not one word has fallen I'm persuaded
like Abraham of old of all that God has promised. He's able to
perform Are you trusting the one in whom God delights in the
elect of God? Well if you are Your salvation
is certain and sure. The Lord Jesus Christ cannot
fail. His purpose shall be done. His
love is unfailing. The love of Christ never fails.
His purpose is unfailing, it shall be done. His mercy is unfailing. IN LAMENTATION 3 WHERE IT TALKS
ABOUT HIS LOVE AND HIS MERCIES. HE SAID HIS MERCIES ARE NEW EVERY
MORNING AND THEY FAIL NOT. UNFAILING IN HIS REDEMPTIVE PURPOSE. WE'RE BOUGHT WITH THE BLOOD OF
CHRIST. THANKS BEING TO GOD FOR HIS UNSPEAKABLE,
UNSPEAKABLE GIFT. HE SHALL NOT FAIL. AREN'T YOU
GLAD YOU HAVE A SAVIOR LIKE THAT? He's God our Savior who cannot
fail. That comforts me. I trust you
find great comfort in
