Let me share the text with you
again from John chapter 5, verse 22 and 23. I want you to listen carefully
and prayerfully to the message today. I believe if I had the whole religious
world for an audience, I don't know of any message that would
be more significant and of greater importance than the one that
I'm going to preach this morning. We might think that or say that
about several messages, but somehow I read this one over again and
again and again. And I've come to the conclusion
that this is where, this is really where it's at. This is really
the basics. This is the fundamentals. This
is the rock. This is what separates the sheep
from the goats. This is what divides life and
death. Eternal joy and eternal condemnation
is right here is what I'm dealing with today. It says in John 5,
22, for the Father judges no man. This thing of the faith or the
eternal joy or misery of every creature is in the hands of Christ,
totally in the hands of Christ. He says, He says, I've committed
all judgment, all decisions unto the Son. The head of the mediatorial kingdom
is Christ. The giver of life is Christ.
Life's in the hands of Christ. You needn't go to the Father.
It's like when the famine was over all the land, Joseph built
the storehouses. When people came to Pharaoh and
said, we need corn, he said, go to Joseph. I've got nothing
to say to you. I'm not going to give you corn,
I'm not going to withhold corn from you. You'll get no response
from me at all. I won't even grant you a hearing.
Go to Joseph. Joseph filled the silos, Joseph
grew the corn, Joseph stored the corn, and Joseph will give
out the corn. So you needn't come to me at
all. And that's what he's saying here. Father judges no man. But he has committed all judgment
all decisions to the Son. That, in order that
the Son might have the preeminence, in order that every voice shall
confess that He's Lord, every knee will bow, in order that
all shall honor the Son. The focal point of eternal glory
will be worthy of the Lamb. It'll be the glory of the Son.
I'm telling you the truth. It'll be the son. I saw a lamb
on the throne as it had been slain. And before him all the
24 elders and all the multitude bowed and said, worthy is the
lamb. That all men should honor the son. Are you with me? You
needn't pray to the father apart from the son. He won't hear you. You needn't solicit the Father.
You needn't petition the Father. You needn't seek mercy from the
Father. You needn't come to Him for corn. He has no corn. Christ has the corn. I'm telling
you the truth. Mercy's in Christ. It's all been
committed to His hand, in His care and keeping. He'll give
it to whomsoever He will. And I know we've got all the
different Catholic, Protestant, and Jews, and we've got all the
different denominations, we've got all the different opinions,
but your opinion's not worth snapping your fingers. The Word
of God says He's committed everything to the Son. In order of that,
here's the reason that all should honor the Son. The Father has
committed Himself and all creation to honoring the Son, that in
all things He might have the preeminence. And watch it now,
he that honoreth not the son, he who cannot or will not give
the son that lofty, highest, preeminent place in his mind,
in his heart, in his worship, in his faith, with his tongue,
he can't honor the father. The honored father won't accept
his honor. He can't glorify the father. He can't have any dealings
with the Father. This is right, Dan. I'm telling
the truth. That's what it says. That's exactly what that says. He honoreth not the Father. Now,
I want to read several other verses along with that. I want
you to listen to them. Now, that said, you get this
down permanently in your mind. He that honoreth not the Son
honoreth not the Father. Is that clear? Let that be established. He that honoreth not the Son,
he who cannot give the Son, The Lord Jesus Christ, Jesus of Nazareth,
call him what you will, but he who cannot give him that exalted,
preeminent, high and lofty place which the Father has given him,
he hath exalted him to his right hand and said, Sit on my right
hand till I make every voice and every person and every creature
and every enemy your footstool. That's the place the Father has
given him. And you can't honor the Father if you can't give
the Son that place, in here and in here. All right, John 15. Now listen to this. John 15. John 15, verse 23. Now see, see
if I'm not preaching the truth. John 15, 23. He that hateth me,
he that despiseth me, and I know men speak carelessly of Christ. They use his name as a curse
word. They'll mash their fingers and say, Jesus Christ. He that hates me hates my Father.
A man curses Christ curses God. That's right. Any flippant reference
to Jesus Christ is a flippant reference to God. He that hates
me hates my Father. He who has a lowered opinion
of me has a lower opinion of my father. That's what he said. He that rejected me rejected
him that sent me. All right, let me show you another
one. Turn to the book of 1 John. 1 John, chapter 2. 1 John, chapter
2, verse 23. Now listen to this. 1 John 2, 23. And you know, I hear that word
used all the time, whosoever will, let him come, whosoever
is a great word, whosoever is a wide word, whosoever means
everybody, all right, whosoever then, everybody. Whether he's
sincere or insincere, whether he's Roman, Catholic, Protestant,
or Jew, whether he's a Baptist or whether he's a Presbyterian,
whoever, whosoever denies the Son, denies his preeminence,
denieth his glory, denieth his place, denieth his position,
the same hath not the Father." Now, how are you going to make
room for your religious friends there who do not believe in the
Lord Jesus Christ? I want to know how you're going
to squeeze them in. It plainly says that a man denies the Son. And who is the Son? The Son is
the surety of the covenant. The Son is the incarnate God.
The son is the federal head and righteousness of his people.
Is that not right? The son is our righteousness.
The son is our substitute. The son is our sin offering.
The son is our risen justifier. The son is our only mediator.
The son is our reigning king. The son is our great high priest.
Whosoever denies the son his rightful position and place in
crown rights doesn't have God. That's what that says. He doesn't have God. But, if
this is in italics, how they added it, I don't know, but it's
added with a translator. Perhaps they knew something I
didn't know. But if it's so, nevertheless, it doesn't violate
the truth of the previous statement, he that acknowledgeth the Son.
That's not acknowledging his existence, that's acknowledging
his character and attributes and place. I know a lot of people
say, well, where'd Jesus Christ live? That ain't what we're talking
about. Any fool knows that. The calendar tells you that,
that Jesus Christ lived and died so many years B.C., before Christ
so many years A.D., in the year of our Lord. But he that acknowledges
heart, mind, and spirit, the glory of Christ, the preeminence
of Christ, the place of Christ, he has the Father. And he that
denies Christ hath not God. See, Christ, the word Christ,
is his office. That's what he came to do. That's his work. Turn to 1 John
5. Now here's another one. 1 John 5. 1 John 5.10. Now watch this. He
that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself. And he that believeth not the
Son of God He's made God a liar. That's for certain. What are we talking about? The
record. Look at the next line. Because he had not believed the
record God gave of his son. What's the record? Well, it starts
at Genesis 3.15. He's the seed of woman. That's
the record. It comes on down to Genesis 12 and 15. He's the
seed of Abraham. It comes on down, he's the prophet
like Moses. He's the priest after the order
of Melchizedek. He's the king from the house
and lineage of David. He's the Lord, our righteousness.
He's the one born of the virgin. Behold, the Lord himself shall
give you a sign. A virgin shall be with child
and bring forth a son, called his name Immanuel, God with us.
That's the record. You don't believe that? Well,
he said, you've made God a liar. Whether or not you believe God
is true and God's a liar depends on what you believe about this
man, Jesus Christ. That's what I'm saying. That's
what this is saying. If I believe in Christ and I
give the Lord Jesus Christ his position and place of prestige,
preeminence, and honor, then I believe God. If I disregard
Jesus Christ and disregard his claims and his attributes, I
make God a liar. Because he said, I don't speak
of myself, I speak of him who sent me. The words that I say
are not my words, they're his words. So you don't believe my
words, you make him a liar. That's what I'm saying. You've
got no light except the light of Christ. He's the truth. You've got no truth except what
he says. You've got no warrant or authority to believe anything
if Jesus Christ didn't say it. Did you know that? Don't believe
nothing if he didn't say it. One more. 2 John. 2 Epistle of John. You said, Preacher, if you had
the whole religious wireless one, we'd have us a fuss here.
Yeah, I know that. I'd have to call out the National
Guard. But I'd still like to give it a shot. Because this is what the Word
says. 2 John 9. Look at this. There's that word again, and
that's whosoever transgresses, transgresses, trespasses, abides
not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. What is the doctrine
of Christ? The Christ, the Messiah, the
Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ. What is the doctrine of Christ?
It's the doctrine of eternal covenant mercies. It's the doctrine
of substitution. It's the doctrine of a perfect,
imputed righteousness through the obedience of another. It's
the doctrine of one who died in our room instead and took
our iniquities in himself. It's the doctrine of the Christ
who rose again, the high priest who went into the Holy of Holies
with his own blood and put it on the mercy seat to enable God
to be just and justify sinners. That's the doctrine of Christ.
And if any man doesn't know this doctrine, love this doctrine,
and abide in it, I mean continue in it, he can't quit. He's got
to stay in it as long as he's got breath in his body. And if
he doesn't, he has not God. He's an ungodly, godless person. He doesn't even know God. God's
a stranger to him. He's a stranger to God. The reason
that the judgment, when those people bragged about what they
did, he said, I never knew you. You didn't have God. Now I ask you, why are we called
radical? I'm not radical. I'm biblical,
I believe. I'm not fanatical. So let's say
you're fanatical. I'm not fanatical. I'm insisting
on what God's insisting on. I'm insisting on preeminence
for Christ. God insists on it. And I'm on
God's side. You're not fanatical when you
refuse to fight against God. I don't understand why we're
branded as uncharitable. When we preach that mercy and
grace is where God says it is, in Christ. It's nowhere else. I think it's uncharitable to
tell a man that a cure is found where it's not found. That's
uncharitable. I think the charitable thing
to do is tell people the truth. This is the remedy. This is where
the cure is found. Here is the physician. Here is
the helper. Here is mercy and grace. Here
is the fountain of mercy. A man comes to you on a desert,
dying of thirst. He hasn't had a drink of water
in three days. And he says, where is the fountain? And you tell him where it is,
and he says, well, I don't believe it's over there. It used to be
over here. My mother and father told me it's over here. And you
say, well, you go ahead. You may find it over there. That's
uncharitable. You've got to tell him that you
know that it's here. Here's the fountain. Here's the
water. It's not over there, regardless of what you thought. It's not
over there. Here it is. I've seen it. I've drunk from it." So he
said, "...he that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father.
He that hateth the Son hateth the Father. He that believeth
not the Son hath made the Father a liar. He that denieth the Son
hath not the Father. He that abideth not in the doctrine
of Christ In the doctrine of Christ, that's the doctrine of
life through Christ, hath not God. Now, let me show you a couple
of other verses. John 1, 18. Turn over here. John
1, 18. Now, I ask you to consider these
Scriptures. I ask you to consider them this
afternoon. In John 1, 18, no man had seen
God at any time. People tell me, well, I know
God. Where'd you see Him? Where'd He talk to you? What
contact did you have with Him? Now you tell me. Just tell me
how you know God and how you met God and how you talked to
Him. I'll tell you how I met Him. I met Him in Christ. Christ
revealed God to me. I've seen the Son, therefore
I've seen the Father. Where'd you see Him? Where'd you see God?
When God speak to you. God never spoke to you. You're
lying. You never heard God say a word. He's got a high voice
or a low voice. That's not true. When you say
you've seen God or heard God or God said something to you,
you're not telling the truth. God didn't do it. The Word plainly
says no man has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son,
which is in the bosom of the Father, if you've heard from
God, you've heard from Christ. God, who at sundry times and
in diverse manners spake to our fathers by the prophets, hath
in these last days spoken to us one way, no other way. One
way. through his son. If you hadn't
heard the son, you hadn't heard the father. If you hadn't met
the son, you hadn't met the father. If you hadn't believed the son,
you hadn't believed the father. You've got an idol on your hand. He's
the god of your imagination. That's plenty. Let me show you
another one. Matthew 11, 27. And I'm trying to be honest.
It's like Jim Eccles prayed a while ago, Father, give me a believing
heart. I don't want to play church and play religion and miss Christ,
miss life. Tell your death too sure and
judgment too certain. Eternity is too long. In Matthew
11, listen to verse 27. All things are delivered unto
me of my Father, all spiritual things, gifts, blessings, understanding,
mysteries. No man knoweth the Son, but the
Father. Neither knoweth any man the Father
save the Son. and he to whom the Son will reveal
him." It's a lost cause. He said, I'm going to seek God
in the mountains. You'll find an idol, but you won't find God.
I'm going to seek God in the law. I'm going to seek God in
the nature. I'm going to seek God in love.
I'm going to seek God in the Orient among the Oriental religion. I'm going to seek God among the
Those fellas that sit in the caves and fold their arms, I'm
going to seek God in meditation. You'll find you an experience,
but you won't find the living God. You'll find a feeling and
you'll find something to trust, but not... You'll find the living
God when you see Christ and hear Christ. That's what this is saying. One more, let me let you read
John 8, 19. John 8, 19. John 8, 19. They said unto him, Where is
your father? Now, this is old religious fellows,
you know, talking to our master, and they said, Where is your
father? And our Lord answered, These men. And these, these are
men of heritage, ancestry, background, scholarship, theology, study,
morality, law, ceremonies. These are the strictest of Pharisees.
This is the Sanhedrin. These are the men who are the
scribes. They recorded the scriptures. These are the men who fought
for it and protected it and were willing to kill for it. And our
Lord said, You neither know Me nor My Father if you had known
Me. You would have also known my
Father. That's how you know the Father. I turn back to John 5. I want
to give my estimation of Jesus Christ, the way I personally
feel in my heart. I'm not preaching Baptist doctrine
now. I'm not preaching denominational
dogma. I'm not putting on display McAlvinism. I'm just going to tell you frankly
and honestly how I feel about the Lord Jesus Christ, and I'm
going to let His words express how I feel. I believe what He
said. My only knowledge of God is through
the words of Christ. My only knowledge of Christ is
through the words of Christ. But He said, if I bear witness
of myself, my witness is not true. But He said, John the Baptist
bore witness of me, the Scriptures bear witness of me, the works
that I do bear witness of me, and the Father has borne witness
of me. And here he says in verse 17, Jesus answered them, My Father
worketh hitherto, and I work. Therefore the Jews sought the
Lord to kill him, because he not only had broken the Sabbath,
but he said also, God was his Father, making himself equal
with God. That's what I believe about the
Lord Jesus Christ. He's God. Fully, completely God. Jesus Christ and the Father are
one. I and my Father are one. Isaiah 7.14 says this, the Lord
will give you a sign, this is how you'll know, that virgins
shall bring forth a son and call his name Jesus, or Emmanuel,
God with us, God with us. Isaiah 9.6 says this, unto us
a child is born, unto us a son is given, and his name shall
be called Counselor, he's the counsel of God. The counsel of
God is all in him. His name shall be called Wonderful
Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince
of Peace. My friends, don't try to divide
the Trinity. Don't try to comprehend it, either.
The Lord our God is one God. Jesus Christ, the Father and
the Holy Spirit are one. They're one. And he that hath
the Son hath the Father, and he that hath not the Son hath
not the Father. One. They're one. Turn to Hebrews
1, verse 8 through 12. Now listen to this. Hebrews 1,
8 through 12. The disciples said to him one
day, Show us the Father. Show us the Father. And the Lord
Jesus Christ, in his words, rebuked the disciple when he said that.
Have I been so long time with you and you don't know me?" Show
us the Father. And here he stands, the everlasting
Father. And he said, Have I been so long
time with you and you don't know me? He that hath seen me hath
seen the Father. That's the reason to reject Christ,
to deny Christ, to dishonor Christ, is to reject, deny, and dishonor
the Father, because He and the Father are one. Hebrews 1.8,
listen, Unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is forever
and ever. A scepter of righteousness is
the scepter of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness
and hated iniquity. Therefore God, even thy God,
hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellowship.
You say, why did Jesus Christ call the Father, my God, why
hast thou forsaken me, if he's equal with God? When Christ was
here on the earth in the flesh as a man, he was the servant
of God, and yet never left the bosom of the Father. I can't
explain that, I just know it's so. I know that no man taketh
his life, he laid it down. Jesus Christ is the only human
that ever lived on this earth, and he was in the flesh, a man.
God, man, God in the flesh. He's the only man that ever selected
his own mother. That's right, he chose his mother.
You didn't choose your mother. He chose the house and lineage
and mother through which he'd be born. He chose the day he
would be born, the minute and the hour. He sent the angels
of God to announce his birth, and before the baby ever parted
the womb, and came out, the star already marked the place where
he was coming forward. He's the only man who ever selected when
he'd die and how he'd die. And he's the only man whom they
couldn't kill. He gave up the ghost. That's
right. He's gone. He's gone. Verse 10 says, And thou, Lord,
in the beginning hast laid the foundations of the earth, and
the heavens are the work of thy hands. That's who he is, that's
Jesus Christ. Do you believe this? God was
in Christ reconciling the world unto himself. Acts 20, 28, Paul
said to the elders of the church, Feed the church of God which
he purchased with his own blood. That's what I believe about Jesus
Christ. All right, here's the next part, verse 19 and 20, John
5. Go back to John 5. Now, this is so vital. Like I
said, this is life and death. I don't like you Baptists. I
don't like this, that. That's not the question. It's
what think ye of Christ, whose Son is He. I have questions about the King
James. I like the International or the
Amplified. That's not your problem. That's
not your problem at all. Your problem is what you believe
about Christ. If your mind was straight and your heart was straight
on Christ, the other things would work themselves out. That's the
problem. These people are always looking
for a reason not to go and not to hear and not to do this, not
to do that. Their whole problem is Christ.
That's the whole problem. That's the whole problem. But thank you, Christ. When that's
settled, all these other things will smooth out like a velvet
road. So that's the issue. Look at verse 19, "...then I
said, Jesus, and said this, Verily, verily, I say unto you, the Son
can do nothing of himself what he seeth the Father do, for what
things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise."
The Son is one with the Father in will and purpose. The Son
of God incarnate in human flesh came on a mission to this earth. He came with a task to fulfill. That task is the purpose and
will of his Father. That's what he came to do. Christ
on this earth is the servant of the Father to fulfill the
will and purpose of the Father. He's not on a separate mission.
Christ didn't come down here to get the Father in a notion
to save us. He came because the Father would save us. He didn't
come down here to get the Father to love us. He came because the
Father did love us. I'm going to run through several
verses for you. I'll just read them to you. You can jot them
down if you're taking notes. But for time's sake, let me just
read them. John 4, 34. Listen. Jesus said, My meat is
to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work. The Savior, the Redeemer down
here, is the messenger of the covenant. He is the servant of
the Father. He is a representative of a people.
He's the surety of a New Testament. He's the shepherd, the good shepherd,
the great shepherd who came here to accomplish a mission the Father
sent him on. And that's what he says, I came
to finish his work. Listen to this. John 5.30, you
see it right there before you, I can of my own self do nothing,
as I hear I judge, my judgment is just, because I seek not mine
own will, the will of the Father that sent me. Look at John 6.37,
All that my Father giveth me shall come to me, and him that
cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. I came down from heaven,
not to do my will, but the will of him that sent me. And this
is the will of him that sent me, that of all which he hath
given me I'll lose nothing, but raise it up at the last day."
God the Father purposed redemption. God the Father elected the people
in Christ. God the Father gave them to Christ. Thou hast given me authority
over all flesh, that I should give eternal life to as many
as Thou hast given me. The Father gave them to the Son.
My sheep, hear my voice. I give them eternal life, they'll
never perish. My Father which gave them me is greater than
all." The Father gave the Son of people, and the Son came down
here as a man, as a shepherd, as a servant, as a messenger
of covenant to fulfill all that God purposed and decreed in that
covenant. Father, I have finished the work
Thou gavest me to do. Now glorify me with the glory
which I had with Thee before the world was. It is finished! The Father said, come up here
and sit down now till I make all your enemies your footstool.
That's what it's all about. And that's exactly what He's saying
here in John 5. He said, the Son didn't come down here to
run around and see what He could do, you know, and gather up some
folks and say, wait, Father, hold on, I haven't got enough
yet. He came down here to fulfill the purpose, the covenant, the
will of His Father. to speak his words, do his will,
finish his work, accomplish his mission. When he did, he went
back to glory and sat down. And the Holy Spirit is down here
making willing and reconciling those the sons already reconciled.
That's right. That's what I believe. That's
what the Word says. All right, let me show you one other down
here in John 5.20. For the father loveth the son.
Who does the father love? The son. How does the father
love you? In the son. I'm serious. The father can no more, as far
as this book's concerned, as far as his holiness is concerned,
the father can no more love a man outside of Christ than he can
love a devil. Is that too strong? It's so. God has no degrees of
holiness. He's perfectly holy. Perfectly
holy. And whatever gave us the idea,
now whatever gave us the idea that that perfectly holy God
can despise Satan and the demons, and be angry, and then be under
his wrath, and yet love us, who do the same thing. who walk according
to the course of this world, according to the prince of the
pie there, who are children of wrath, even as others." Now,
what kind of God do you have? You have a God of holiness by
degrees? Not this God, infinitely holy. But the way He can love us and
be God and be holy is to love us in Christ. The way He can
accept us is to accept us in Christ. speak to us is speak
to us through Christ. The way he can hear us is hear
us through Christ the man, the God-man, who did the will of
God in the flesh as a man. Is that clear? Well, that's it. God was in Christ reconciling
the world to himself. Look at verse 20 and 21. The
Father loveth the Son, showeth him all things, and himself doeth.
He'll show him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them,
so the Son quickeneth whom he will." What is this quickening? Anybody knows the quick and the
dead. Quicken is alive. Dead is not
alive. The Son quickeneth, maketh alive
whom he will. Well, what is this making alive? In Adam, all are dead. You know
what the Word says? In Adam, all died. Spiritual
death passed upon all men for all sin. And you have be quickened
who were dead in trespasses and sin. So this quickening here
is spiritual life. It's making dead sinners live.
And this is a regeneration. It's called a new birth. It's
called a new nature. Let me show you two verses. Ephesians
2, verse 1 and 5. Turn over there. Ephesians 2,
verse 1 and 5. Now, this is so important here. Ephesians 2, 1, verse 1. And you had to be quickened who
were dead in trespasses and sin. Now, verse 5. Even when we were
dead in sin, have quickened us together, made us alive in Christ,
or with Christ. Now, turn to Colossians. Colossians
2, 13. Colossians 2.13. And you, being
dead in your sins, and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened
together with Christ, and hath forgiven you all your trespasses?
Now back to our text. John 5. So this is what we're
talking about here. Spiritual life. Spiritual quickening. Even so, the Son gives life to
whom He will. Makes alive whom He will. This
new life, this regeneration, is according to the Father's
will, and by the Son's power, and life, and voice. He is our
life. For as many as received Him,
to them gave He the right privilege to become the sons of God, which
were born, not of blood, not of the will of the flesh, not
of the will of man, but born of God, the Son quickeneth whom He will.
Of His own will begat He us with the word of truth. Look at verse 24. Verily, verily,
I say unto you, he that heareth my word, my gospel, and believeth
on him that sent me hath everlasting life, and shall not come into
condemnation, but is passed from death to life. Verily, verily,
I say unto you, the hour is coming now is when the dead shall hear
the voice of the Son of God, and he that hears shall live.
As the Father hath life in himself, so hath he given to the Son to
have life in himself, and hath given him authority to execute
judgment also, because he is the Son of Man." That's a spiritual
awakening, that's spiritual life. You say, no, he's talking about
resurrection of the grave. No, the next verse talks about
that. He said, don't marvel at this, for the hour is coming
in which all that are in the grave shall hear his voice, and
they're going to live. This is spiritual resurrection. All right. I'm coming to the
close. Back here to John 5, verse 22. Now listen to this, John 5, 22. The Father judgeth no man, hath committed all judgment to
the Son. The judgment of all creatures is in the hands of
the Lord Jesus. The fate of all creatures is
in the hands of the Son. I want you to turn to John 9,
verse 39. Judgment. John 9, 39. Jesus said, for judgment
I'm coming to this world. Decision time. Divided sheep
from goats. For judgment I'm coming to this
world, that they which see not might see. That's the blind,
that's Those unseen, those who know their centers, they don't
see. They have no life. They have no way. They have no
strength. They have no righteousness. They
don't see. Oh, Lord, that I may see. Lord, that I may be clean. That I may have a new heart.
That I may know God. My sins are separating me from
God. I don't know God. I don't see
God. I don't have a righteousness. He said, I've come that they
might see. And that they would see. We don't need a savior,
we don't need a mediator, we don't need a righteousness, we
don't need a substitute, that they may be made blind. And some
of the religious fellows of Pharisees which were with him heard these
words and said, are we blind? Are we blind? No, no you're not.
If you were blind, you'd have no sin. If you'd face it and
admit it and you really were blind, I'd give you sight. He
healed those that needed healing. But, now, you say, he didn't
say they did see, he said, you say, we see. We don't need you,
Christ. Then he said, your sin remains.
You see that? It remains. For judgment, I've come to this
world. The Father judges no man. He's committed it all to the
Son. He's got, now it's given him power, now it's given him
wisdom, now it's given him The judgment has committed all things
into his hand. That's what it says. God the
Father loveth the Son hath given all things into his hand. That's
you and me. Has ever this 350 or more people
here this morning ever blessed one of us in the hands of Jesus
Christ? Did you know that? And he'll do with you what he
will. And you're quick in whom he will. And you can't give him a lesser
place or position. He is the Your church has got
nothing to do with it, your Pope, priest, or anybody else got nothing
to do with it. It's all in the hands of Jesus Christ. I'm in
there too. Billy Graham's in there too.
You may not know, but he's in there. And the Pope's in there
too, and they're just peanuts like me and you. Nothing to them.
That's right. There's nothing to them. Everybody's
in the hands of Christ. And he'll do with us what he
will. But he says this, for judgment I've come to this world, that the blind might see. And
this old blind man is going to wave and say, Lord, like Bartimaeus,
Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me. I'm blind. And he's going
to stop. And he's going to give me sight.
And these religious folks are going to sit there. We're not
blind as Bartimaeus. And we're not dead as Lazarus.
And we're not as wicked as the harlot. And we're not as much
a publican as Zacchaeus. We see. He says, your sin remaineth. Your sin remaineth. I've made
the judgment. I've made the judgment. The judgment
is based on what you feel about yourself and what you feel about
Him. That's where it is. And I know what I am. And by
His grace, I know who He is. I know who He is. And He deserves
the glory. He deserves it. He earned it.
He died that he might be Lord. He earned it. And he's going
to have it. And I'm going to be then like
I am now, in the dust at his feet. That's where I am now,
and that's where I'm going to be then. That's where you're
going to be then. If you're not down there now, you're not going to be there
then. That's it. I know that's it. He that honoured
not the Son, honoured not the Father. He that hated the Son,
hated the Father. He that denied the Son, hath
not God. Our Father, glory, honor, praise
be unto Jesus Christ, Thy only begotten well-beloved Son, the
Son of Thy love. God, if we just had the voice,
if we just had the words to praise Him like He ought to be praised,
if we just had the thoughts to exalt Him and give Him preeminence
like He ought to be exalted, If we could just say, worthy
is the Lamb loud enough and strong enough and with genuine sincerity
like we want to. Let the angels praise Him till
we're able. Let the cherubims and seraphims
praise Him until we're able. And let the heavenly host who
have lived here and gone to thy presence praise Him like He ought
to be praised till our Father we're able. But while we're here,
by Your grace, we'll praise Him as we can, as we can, as we're
able. Enthrone Christ in every heart
by Your grace. In His name we pray. Amen.
Henry Mahan
About Henry Mahan

Henry T. Mahan was born in Birmingham, Alabama in August 1926. He joined the United States Navy in 1944 and served as a signalman on an L.S.T. in the Pacific during World War II. In 1946, he married his wife Doris, and the Lord blessed them with four children.

At the age of 21, he entered the pastoral ministry and gained broad experience as a pastor, teacher, conference speaker, and evangelist. In 1950, through the preaching of evangelist Rolfe Barnard, God was pleased to establish Henry in sovereign free grace teaching. At that time, he was serving as an assistant pastor at Pollard Baptist Church (off of Blackburn ave.) in Ashland, Kentucky.

In 1955, Thirteenth Street Baptist Church was formed in Ashland, Kentucky, and Henry was called to be its pastor. He faithfully served that congregation for more than 50 years, continuing in the same message throughout his ministry. His preaching was centered on the Lord Jesus Christ and Him crucified, in full accord with the Scriptures. He consistently proclaimed God’s sovereign purpose in salvation and the glory of Christ in redeeming sinners through His blood and righteousness.

Henry T. Mahan also traveled widely, preaching in conferences and churches across the United States and beyond. His ministry was marked by a clear and unwavering emphasis on Christ, not the preacher, but the One preached. Those who heard him recognized that his sermons honored the Savior and exalted the name of the Lord Jesus Christ above all.

Henry T. Mahan served as pastor and teacher of Thirteenth Street Baptist Church in Ashland, Kentucky for over half a century. His life and ministry were devoted to proclaiming the sovereign grace of God and directing sinners to the finished work of Christ. He entered into the presence of the Lord in 2019, leaving behind a lasting testimony to the gospel he faithfully preached.
