And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. call...: or, proclaim - Isaiah 12:4
It has always been the honor and privilege of the church of the living God, in every dispensation, to worship him whose name is above every name. This verse speaks particularly of the Lord Jesus Christ and his church, after his humiliation and exaltation. There can never be any thing added to private or public worship. If there is, it is not of God. He alone is to be praised, whether in song or word.
His doings—His great work of redemption, is the sum and substance of the Gospel, and his great name is therein exalted among his people. His church calls upon him in prayer and supplication in worship and devotion. Although contemporary religion has devised and invented many things, calling it worship, the Scriptures are clear that when the church comes together in his name, we are to worship him in Spirit and in truth. Believers sing the Gospel, pray the Gospel and preach the Gospel.
