Israel’s Cure

Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth. - Jeremiah 33:6

    The hand of God duly issued the corporal afflictions of old Israel upon them. However, in the execution of his wrath and fury against the idolatrous nation, there remained an infinite love. It was a love that was effectual in the preservation of these elect in which he would joy and be glorified. This great deliverance of his earthly people is but a picture of a greater deliverance. God the Spirit reveals to us the great and wondrous person and work of Messiah. God’s Word of promise (I will) to Jeremiah concerning Israel is his covenant promise to spiritual Israel, the church of the living God.

    This promise is according to his purpose of grace originating in the infinite Godhead before the worlds. To put this properly, there was never another purpose for his chosen ones. Spiritual Israel’s health and cure is revealed and executed in the anointed, beloved, and incarnate Redeemer, Christ Jesus our Lord. The disease of sin and death ravaged the souls of all the elect of God without recovery by themselves. The Deliverer, and the deliverance of his elect from their plight, being predestinated by divine omnipotence was, and is revealed, in the abundance of peace and truth. For the law was given by Moses, [but] grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (Jn 1:17).

    The putting away and forgiveness of their sin, the imparting of The Lord our Righteousness, and the imputing of his wrought-out righteousness, is the sovereign exercise of the love, mercy and grace of Jehovah-Jireh—Jehovah-Rapha (The Lord that provideth healing). Make no mistake, nothing can be added to or taken away from his justifying work. I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him (Eccl 3:14). The only cure for the sin-sick soul is the blood of the Lamb of God.
