All Things Are Of God

And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; - 2 Corinthians 5:18

    This passage speaks primarily of the great act of reconciliation, which is the work of God in Christ alone. The phrase all things are of God includes all that Jehovah (the unchanging, eternal, self-existent God, the great I am, that I am) purposed to do. Every thing is a direct, intentional, purposeful result of the sovereign decree of Almighty God. Those who do not know God, those who do not believe the Bible, may call this view of the Almighty fatalistic or hyper-Calvinistic. Nevertheless, God is God or he is not God. No man invented this wonderful truth. It is declared throughout the Scriptures; Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, my counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure (Is 46:10).

    All things are of God in the old creation, and all things are of God in the new as well. The great work of redemption and all that pertains is by the sovereign pleasure and good-will of Jehovah-Jireh. I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes (Hos 13:14). The Incarnate God came into the world he created and sustains, and by the Word of his power, to accomplish a work which he purposed from everlasting. Namely, the eternal redemption of all he was pleased to redeem—Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption for us (Heb 9:12).

    All things are of God in regeneration as well. It is he who gives life and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. If he did not do it, it would not be done. Man will remain in death and darkness except he say, Let there be Light. And when he says Let there be Light, there will be Light!
