How do we know believers are not under the wrath of God?

Answered in 1 source

Believers are not under God's wrath because they are eternally secure in Christ, and there is no condemnation for those who are in Him.

The assurance that believers are not under the wrath of God is rooted in their position in Christ. Romans 8:1 states, 'There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.' This signifies that believers were chosen in Him before the foundation of the world and are seen as perfectly righteous because of Christ’s sacrifice. The concept of wrath, which means being answerable for sin, does not apply to those who have Christ as their eternal Surety, who bore their sins on the cross.
