How do we know Christ is our advocate?

Answered in 7 sources

We know Christ is our advocate because He intercedes for us based on His completed work of salvation, as stated in 1 John 2:1.

In 1 John 2:1, it is affirmed that 'if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.' This verse underscores that Christ not only speaks on our behalf but does so because of what He has accomplished through His life, death, and resurrection. His advocacy is rooted in His perfect obedience and atoning sacrifice, which satisfies divine justice. This means that when believers approach God, they do so not based on their merit but through Christ, who has paid the price for their sins and now presents them faultless before the Father. Consequently, our assurance lies in understanding that He advocates for us because He has already secured our redemption.
