How do we know Christ is our good shepherd?

Answered in 2 sources

Christ is the good shepherd because He gives His life for the sheep, providing for their needs.

In John 10, Christ explicitly identifies Himself as the good shepherd, differentiating Himself from false shepherds who do not care for the sheep. While Moses demonstrated the heart of a shepherd by intervening to protect the Hebrew slaves, Christ embodies this role completely by laying down His life for His flock. The sacrificial love of Christ ensures that He not only guides us but also redeems us from our sin. He provides comfort, sustenance, and assurance, fulfilling the role of a shepherd who knows His sheep intimately and leads them according to His perfect will. It is this selfless love that assures us of His commitment to our ultimate good and His glory.
