How do we know God's immutability is true?

Answered in 3 sources

God's immutability is affirmed throughout Scripture, including Isaiah 46:10, which states that His counsel will stand and He will accomplish all His purposes.

We know God's immutability is true because it is a doctrine supported consistently throughout the Scriptures. For instance, Isaiah 46:10 states, 'My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure,' which highlights God's sovereign determination and unchangeable purpose. The certainty of God’s promises stems from His nature; as the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith articulates, God’s existence and perfection are dependent upon Himself and therefore, cannot change. This gives believers assurance that God will remain faithful to His covenants regardless of external circumstances.
