How do we know God's promise of rest is true?

Answered in 3 sources

God's promise of rest, as stated in Matthew 11:28, is true because it is based on the authority and power of Jesus Christ, who fulfills it.

The assurance of God's promise for rest is rooted in the character and authority of Jesus Christ. In Matthew 11:28, Christ specifically calls those who recognize their own labor and burdens, affirming that those who come to Him will find rest. This promise is not contingent on our performance but on His power to fulfill it, as all things have been delivered to Him by the Father (Matthew 11:27). Furthermore, the promise stands on the truth of the Gospel - that He takes our burdens upon Himself and provides the rest our souls desperately need. As we trust in Christ, we are assured that His work on our behalf guarantees this promise.
