How do we know God's promises are sure?

Answered in 3 sources

God's promises are sure because He is El-shaddai, the Almighty God, who is faithful to fulfill them at the right time.

The assurance of God's promises comes from His nature as El-shaddai, the Almighty God. Throughout Scripture, God's declarations often include the phrases 'I will,' which signify His commitment to bring to fruition all that He has promised. The covenant with Abraham is a testament to this truth; God's promises remained constant and unchanging despite Abraham's doubts and actions. For instance, even when Abraham tried to take matters into his own hands through Hagar, God's original plan remained intact, culminating in Isaac's birth (Genesis 21:2). The constancy of God’s character assures believers that His promises are reliable and unbreakable, signifying that even when circumstances appear dire, God's timing and purposes are perfect (Romans 4:20-21).
