Well, good morning again to everyone.
The Lord has given us another day to honor and worship Him, to hear
His gospel preached. As I said earlier, I've been
coming up here to Rocky Mountain, Virginia for 34, 35 years. When
I first found out about this place called Rocky Mount,
Virginia. Well, right away I was most interested
because I grew up in the Rocky Mountains of Idaho and Utah. I always enjoyed coming here
to get a little bit of a scene of a mountain. I'm an old mountain
man, love the mountains. But the mountains here in Rocky
Mount are much different than the mountains out west where
I grew up. Out here, the mountains are covered
with trees, and it's beautiful. Out there, we just don't have
any trees. A few pine trees, and then when
you get up so high, they disappear. But it's good to be with you.
I appreciate your pastor so much. Brother Paul, we've been friends
for many, many, many years. And I know the Lord has blessed
his faithfulness. The Lord will bless His Word. when His servants, and they do,
His servants faithfully preach Christ and Him crucified. We
preach not ourselves. We preach Christ. We preach Christ. We point you to Him. Look to
Him. That's what He says in the book
of Isaiah. Turn there to Isaiah, what John
read earlier from 1 Peter 2, and wherefore it says there,
it's contained in the Scripture. Behold, I lay in Zion for a chief
cornerstone, elect, precious. He that believeth on him shall
not be confounded." Now, that comes from Isaiah 28. You've
got Isaiah 28. Notice verse 16. And this will
be our text. Therefore, thus saith the Lord
God. Thus saith the Lord God. God who is God. The true and
living God. All the Word of God, when you
read that, you can put that in there, thus saith the Lord God. Verse 16, he said, Behold, I lay in time for a foundation,
which is the foundation, a tried stone, a stone, a tried stone,
he is the rock of ages, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation,
And then we have here, he that believeth shall not make haste,
shall not be ashamed, and shall not be confounded. Now, I'm entitling
the message from what is said in verse 16, a sure foundation. A sure foundation. Now, I delight
in all the things of God. the gospel of God concerning
the Lord Jesus Christ, because they're all sure, true, certain,
and everlasting. I'll give you some scriptures
to verify that fact. David said, I believe these are
some of the last words of David, that God has made with me an
everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and is sure. It's a sure covenant. And then
in 2 Peter 1, we talk where he writes there, we have a more
sure word of prophecy, wherein do you take well? You do well
to heed unto this light. And then Paul writes in Romans
4, it is by faith that it might be by grace that the promise
of God would be sure to all the elect of God. So we have his
sure covenant, we have his sure word, and we have his sure promise. Now, I trust that you find comfort
in those sayings are unquestionably sure, undeniably safe, and eternally
true. Don't you find comfort in those
sayings? It's troubling to our heart to see so many finding
comfort and seeking refuge in that which is contrary to that
which is safe, sure, and true. What Isaiah calls in this chapter,
in verse 1 and verse 2, he calls it a refuge of lies. He calls it falsehood, a fading
flower whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, verse four,
and the glorious beauty which is on the head of the fat valley,
a fading flower. Remember from Isaiah 40, he said,
all flesh is grass. It's also troubling to us to
see so many going about to establish a righteousness of their own.
I'm not talking about believers. I'm not talking about God's people,
but people who are religious but lost. going about to establish
the righteousness of her own doing and totally disregarding
the righteousness of God that's revealed in the gospel. And they
do so because they're ignorant of God, and they're ignorant
of the righteousness of God that's given in the gospel. Blessed
is that man to whom the Lord imputeth righteousness without
works. Now, in this chapter, Isaiah
28, God is going to tell us the difference
between a false refuge of men, a refuge of lies it is called
here, and the true refuge of God. One will save you, the other
will damn you. One will bless you eternally,
the other will curse you forever. One will justify you, that refuge
of truth. The other will condemn you forever,
that refuge of lies. One will redeem you from all
your sin. The other will ruin you forever.
Now, it's a no-brainer. Would you hide in a refuge of
lies? You think, well, nobody would
do that. My friend, people are doing that all over this city,
all over this county, Franklin County. all over this state,
my state, and everywhere else. They're going about to establish
a righteousness of their own and have not submitted themselves
to the righteousness of God revealed in the gospel. Now, do you have
a refuge? Do you have a hope? You know,
I don't think I've ever talked to anybody that didn't have some
kind of hope or some kind of refuge. Do you have a refuge? Is it built
upon the foundation that God has laid? And we know that foundation,
the only foundation, is the rock of ages, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Or is that foundation or refuge you have built upon the sinking
sand? All other ground. On Christ the
solid rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand. And that comes from Matthew 7,
does it not? Where the Lord gives that parable
about those who built upon the sand and the storm came, and
the wind came, and the wind blew, and the rain descended, it fell. Those who are resting on the
rock, and that rock and that foundation is Christ. The same
rain, the wind, the trials came, but it stood. Why? Because of that foundation. That
foundation. And that foundation we know is
the Lord Jesus Christ. Now, in verse 14 and verse 15
and verse 17 and verse 18, the Lord tells us about sinners who
hide in a refuge of lies. Let's read verse 14. Wherefore,
hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule his people,
which is in Jerusalem. Because you have said, we have
made a covenant with death and with hell, and we, our agreement,
when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall
not come unto us. For we have made lies our refuge,
and under falsehood have we hid ourselves. What does the Lord
say about those who hide in such a flimsy, failing refuge of lies
and under falsehood? Verse 17, judgment also will
I lay to the line and righteousness to the plummet and the hail. This is the hail of God's wrath.
His judgment shall sweep away the refuge of lies and the water
shall overflow the hiding place and your covenant with death
will be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not
stand when the overflowing scourge shall pass through. Then you
shall be trodden down by it from that time, from the time that
it goeth forth, it shall take you for morning by morning, shall
pass over you by day and by night, and it shall be a vexation only
to understand the report." It's most obvious and evident
that those who refuse to hear the truth, receive the truth,
and believe the truth will go about to build a refuge of lies
and rest upon the foundation of a falsehood. They'll wrap
themselves up in a covering that's too narrow, as it says down in
verse 20, and rest in a bed that's too short. What does that mean? Will not satisfy God. Only the
Lord Jesus Christ and him crucified alone will satisfy the holy justice
of God. These folks declared before God,
we, what we have done, we have made a covenant with death and
hell, with the grave. We are in agreement. When the
overflowing scourge of God's wrath comes, it will not come
nigh unto us. We've hid ourselves. Reminds
me of what those said in Matthew 7, remember? Lord, we have preached
in your name, and Lord, we have done many wonderful works in
your name, and Lord, we have done this, and Lord, we have
done that. And the Lord comes back and said, depart from me,
you workers of iniquity. I never knew you. Now, the difference between a
refuge of lies and a refuge of truth is this. Those who are
resting in a refuge of lies, they say, look what we have done. Or, look what I have accomplished. Those who are resting on that
foundation that God has laid in the Lord Jesus Christ, they
say, look what He has done. Look unto Him for all things
in salvation. Oh, they say, we believe God. We believe in a God. We believe,
oh, that man will die. It's evident. Cemeteries are
everywhere. We believe that judgment will
come, but it shall not come nigh unto us. We're okay. I'm safe. Don't worry about me.
I've had people tell me, Preacher, don't worry about me. I'm okay.
All right. You've got it fixed up with God.
Okay. If you want to rest there, go ahead. But I'm telling you,
look to Christ. Look to the Lord Jesus Christ.
How many people we heard say, well, I've made my peace with
God? Man, you can't do that. God's holy, you're wicked. How
can you satisfy God? The Lord Jesus Christ, our hope
is He made peace for us with His own blood. That's the difference. They say we've made a covenant
with death. This covenant here is not the covenant of grace.
It's the covenant of their works. The covenant of their ungodly
works which will not satisfy God. Our Lord said to those Pharisees,
you or they would justify yourselves before men. But that which is
highly esteemed before those men is an abomination in the
sight of God. He set away with his filthy rags. Now what's going to happen to
these folks who are resting in a refuge of lie? Judgment's coming. Judgment's coming. God has appointed
a day in which he will judge this world by that man, the Lord
Jesus Christ. He appointed a day which he will
judge, and it's a righteous judgment. It's appointed unto man once
to die, and after that, judgment. Judgment. Judgment's coming.
God will destroy both it and them eternally. Now, I don't
want to hide in a refuge of lies, nor do I want you to. I don't
want to believe a lie. God never teaches men the truth
by other men preaching lies. Think about it. It just can't
happen. To tell the truth of the gospel
is to tell the truth who God is, what sin is, and how sin
is put away, who the Lord Jesus Christ is, and how He accomplished
salvation for us. That's the truth that will set
you free. Our Lord said, you shall know
the truth. And the truth will set you free. Lies and falsehood
will never set a sinner free. Be done with it. Away with it.
It's filthy rags. You read in Isaiah. Now, that's
enough on the negative, is it not? The wages of sin is death. That's so. But thank God that
verse doesn't stop there. But the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ our Lord. So that brings us to verse
16. Therefore with us saith the Lord
God, behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation, a stone, tried,
tested, true, proven, proven. It's a precious cornerstone.
It is a sure foundation. He that believeth shall not make
haste." Now, do you know what that means right there? Shall
not make haste? Will never be forced out. Will never be ashamed. Will never be confounded. Now,
let's look at this refuge that God has given to us. With God,
there is an everlasting covenant made with the Lord Jesus Christ. We call that the covenant of
grace. It's an eternal covenant. The
Lord Jesus Christ stood as a surety of that covenant from all eternity.
He's a lamb slain from the foundation of the world. And this is a covenant
of grace, the God of peace, that brought again from the dead the
Lord Jesus Christ through the blood of that everlasting covenant,
make you perfect, settled, and salvation through that covenant
mercy in the Lord Jesus Christ. God says that covenant language
is I will be their God and they shall be my people. I will and
they shall. That's the covenant of grace.
It's not I will if you will. No, it's I will and you shall.
Thy people shall be willing in the day of God's power. This
is an everlasting covenant found in the Word of God. The Lord
Jesus Christ came to save those covenant children, covenant people. I remember reading years ago,
Brother Paul can tell you about John Warburton's book. Many of
you maybe have read that Mercies of Covenant God. Get it and read
it sometime. God that we serve is a covenant
God. There is an everlasting covenant. that's revealed in the Word of
God. And the Lord Jesus Christ is the surety of that covenant.
He's the sacrifice of that covenant. Here in His love, not that we
love God, but that He loved us and He sent His Son to be the
sacrifice for our sin. The Lord Jesus Christ didn't
come to call the righteous. He came to call and to save sinners. Anybody here fit that character? I'm a poor sinner. I'm poor and
needy, yet the Lord thinketh upon me. The Lord came to save
sinners. This is a faithful thing and
worthy of all acceptation. Yet the Lord Jesus Christ came
to save sinners. I'm the chief one. He came to
seek and to save the lost. He's going to save every lost
covenant child. He's going to cross their path
with the gospel. He's going to break their heart,
He's going to teach them the truth, and He's going to make
them a new creature in Christ. That's what He does. There is
a true refuge for sinners to hide in from the storm of God's
wrath, and it's Jesus Christ in Him crucified. You see, He
took all the sin of God's covenant people to Himself. After what
happened at Calvary, God made Him to be sin for us, that we
might be made to righteousness of God in Him. That's the refuge,
that the only way that the wrath and justice of God can be satisfied
in the Lord Jesus Christ and Him crucified, who suffered once
for our sin, the just for the unjust, that He might do what?
Well, He's trying to bring us, but we won't let Him. How pitiful
is that? He suffered once, the just for
the unjust, that he might bring us unto God. And when he does,
it's an effectual work. God, who begun a good work in
you, he will finish it. There is this true, solid foundation
established. for the weary sinner, which we
can totally rest in, and that foundation is Christ Himself. Other foundation can no man lay
than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ the Lord. Our Lord said to every weary
sinner, come unto me, all you that labor heavy laden. Come! I'll give you rest. My yoke is
easy, my burden is light. We rest in Him, O that I may
win Christ and be found in Him." Now, who says so? Who says that
Christ is the only true foundation upon which His covenant people
can rest? Who says so? Thus saith the Lord, period. God says so. He said it. And that's it. That settles it,
whether you believe it or not. That settles it. God said it.
That settles it. Thus saith the Lord, who hath
provided and established this foundation, once said, Behold,
I lay. This is God's work. Behold, I
lay in Zion. Zion there is the church. He
loved the church and gave himself for it. God bought the church
with his own blood. He said, the gates of hell, he
said, I'll build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail
against this Zion, this Zion, this resting on the Lord Jesus
Christ, the rock of ages. Behold, I lay in Zion for foundation
as stone. God himself is the architect. He is the supplier. He is the
builder of this safe, secure foundation of which nothing can
prevail against this foundation that God has laid. You see, our
security is in the foundation. Now, what's the strength of your
house when you go home and you look at your house and that wall
is sitting on something? That wall and the walls of your
house are sitting upon something. I bet you didn't build a house
on the sand, did you? If you had sandy ground, you
dug out a footer, wide and deep, and you poured some concrete
with rebar in it, and then you put the block on that foundation. God has laid a superstructure
of a foundation upon which we can rest, rest, rest in Him. God is the architect. Oh, He
designed it so wisely. He's a supplier, he's a builder,
he lays a foundation and he puts those stones on that foundation,
living stones. Build up a spiritual house upon
the Lord Jesus Christ. Only that which God provides
will God accept. We're accepted in the beloved.
He is Jehovah Jireh, the Lord will provide. Believers are only
accepted in Christ. And it's not that he makes us
acceptable. We are accepted in the beloved. God said, this is my beloved
son in whom I'm well pleased. And he says that of every son
in Christ. Oh, what manner of love the father
hath bestowed upon us that we should be called sons of God. Now behold, I lay in Zion, or
Zion, or the church, this foundation, Christ the Lord. Now, he gives
us some characteristics of this foundation. He says, first of
all, it's a stone, and it is a tri-stone. established and
proven. The Lord Jesus Christ is that
rock in a weary land. He's the proven foundation. No
sinner ever perished resting on this foundation. He is the refuge. Turn to Isaiah
32. Look at Isaiah 32, verse 1. Behold, a king shall reign in
righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment, And a man shall
be a hiding place from the wind, a cover from a tempest, as rivers
of water in a dry place, as a shadow of a rock in a weary land. Who
is this man? The God-man, mediator, the Lord
Jesus Christ. One God and one mediator between
God and men, that is the Lord Jesus Christ. It's a proven,
established, tried foundation that God has laid. Tested by
Satan. Our Lord said the prince of this
world has come and he's found nothing in me. Tried and tested
by the law of God. Our Lord said I didn't come to
destroy the law, I came to honor the law of God. He was tempted
and tested in all points like as we are yet without sin. Tested and proven by the Father
himself. This is a high priest that he
has sent to establish salvation and righteousness for us. Such a high priest became us
who was holy, harmless, undefiled, and separate, totally separate
from sin. He's that living stone. Here's the second thing it's
called here, a further description. It's a tried stone, and then
it's called here a precious cornerstone. a precious cornerstone to those
who are perishing in their sin, to those to whom the gospel is
foolishness, Christ is a stumbling stone and a rock of offense,
we read over there in 1 Peter. Chapter 2, verse 1, a stone which
the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the
corner, a stone of stumbling, a rock of offense, even to them
that stumble at the word, being disobedient, were unto also they
were appointed. God has laid but one foundation,
and it is precious. Precious, precious. To you who
believe the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, Christ in Him crucified
is the wisdom, power and glory of God. To you who believe, we
read a moment ago, to you who believe, He is precious. He is the elect of God. He is
elect and precious. So preacher, I don't understand
that doctrine of election. You want me to help you out here?
Turn to Isaiah 42. The Lord Jesus Christ, He is
the elect. Election is Christ. Election
is Christ. We're chosen in the elect. We're
chosen in Him. You see that? You know the first
time the word elect is ever used in scripture? Isaiah 42.1. And who is it talking about?
Behold my servant whom I uphold, mine elect. In whom my spirit,
I put my spirit upon him. He shall bring forth judgment
to the Gentile. He shall not cry nor lift up
nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. A bruised reed
shall he not break. A smoking flack shall he not
quench. He shall bring forth judgment on the truth. I love
this verse. He shall not fail nor be discouraged
till he has set judgment in the earth, and the isle shall wait
for his word, wait for his law. He is the elect. We're chosen
in him. Now, next time somebody, some
smart-ass religious guy says, well, I don't believe in election,
point him to Christ. He is the elect. He is the elect. You can't preach the gospel without
preaching election. You know why? Because Christ
is the elect. We're chosen in him. He is elect
and precious, Peter puts. We're redeemed. Peter loves that
word precious. He uses it five times in his
two epistles. We're redeemed with his precious
blood. We're justified with those exceeding
great and precious promises, 2 Peter 1. And we have obtained
like precious faith. Even the trials that God sends
us, you know what he calls them? Precious trials. A preacher,
that trial hurts. I know it. It's supposed to. God didn't send his trial to
make us feel good. He sends his trial to drive us
to himself for comfort and relief. So it's a precious cornerstone. We are resting in this Foundation,
the Lord Jesus Christ. Here's the third thing. It's
a sure foundation. It's a sure foundation, one that
cannot be changed, one that cannot fail, one that never needs an
upgrade. All the electronic gadgets that
we have always have to have an upgrade. Everything's got to
change. It just messes me up every time. Just when I get used
to something, they change it. This gospel of the Lord Jesus
Christ does not change. It's the same yesterday, today,
and forever. You can rest in Him. He never
changes. He never fails. It's certain
and sure, built upon Christ. A foundation
that's firm and strong and movable, everlasting, will never decay.
will never change. He said, I am the Lord, I change
not. Therefore, you sons of Jacob,
you're not consumed. The foundation of God, Paul writes
this in his last epistle as he sits on death row waiting to
be executed in 2 Timothy 2. Nevertheless, the foundation
of God standeth sure, having this seal, the Lord knoweth them
that are his. I know whom I have believed. But our comfort is He knows us. There may be a time in my life,
due to the frailty of this flesh, that I don't know my own name,
yet alone His. He knows His covenant people. He said, I'll never leave you.
I will never forsake you. No, no, never. You see, it's
safe. It's safe, resting upon the Lord
Jesus Christ. Now, in conclusion, let me give
you this. It says, He that believeth shall not make haste. Now, what is this believing business
here? It's faith. Faith, we know, is
a gift of God, not of works. For by grace are you saved through
faith, and that not of yourself. It is a gift of God. Not of work
let any man should boast. As many as were ordained to eternal
life believe the gospel. We believe only according to
the working of His mighty power. This is not talking about what
we call easy believism. This is true saving faith that
looks to the Lord Jesus Christ. That's what saving faith does.
Hebrews 12 says, looking, looking unto the Lord Jesus Christ. Looking. And we read in 1 Peter 2, to
whom? Coming. You see, saving faith
is not some isolated act that happened years ago. Say, I've
repented years ago. Well, if you're a believer, you're
still repenting. You're still coming to Christ. And this thing
of coming to Christ This thing of believing on Him and coming
to Him is not something physical. It's what God works in our heart
when He gives us faith to look to Him. He that believeth on
Him shall not be ashamed, shall not be confounded, no, no, never. I'm thinking of another scripture
over here. Don't turn, let me just read
it to you. Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth my
word and believeth on him that sent me hath got it, what everlasting
life, and shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from
death unto life. That's why Peter calls faith
precious. Faith doesn't accomplish salvation,
does it? Faith doesn't accomplish salvation.
Don't go there. Faith receives Christ who did
accomplish salvation. That's saving faith. We trust
Him. Forsaking all else, I trust Him. He that believeth on the Son
hath everlasting life. Now, I do want you to turn to
this, and we'll close with these verses here. Romans 9.33. Peter and Paul both reference
this verse, Isaiah 28, 16. Here is Romans 9, verse 33. We know it's not of him that
willeth or of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy,
right? Not a stronger chapter to teach
the absolute sovereignty of God in salvation. I will have mercy
upon whom I will. Look at verse 33. It is written,
Isaiah 28, 16. You see the reference? Behold,
I lay in Zion a stumbling stone, a rock of offense. The gospel
is offensive to the natural man. But whosoever believeth on him,
Shall not be ashamed. I'm one of those whosoevers.
By the grace of God, I do believe on Him. And we shall not be ashamed. Paul, when he writes about the
gospel of God in Romans 1, he said, I'm not ashamed of the
gospel of Christ because it's the power of God and the salvation
to everyone that believeth. Not ashamed. Not ashamed to own
the Lord Jesus Christ. Think about this. You remember
in Hebrews 2 where it says, he's not ashamed to call us brethren.
You remember reading that? He's not ashamed to call us brethren.
Our Lord said, if you're ashamed of me in this day, I'll be ashamed
of you in that day. We're not ashamed to declare
the gospel of God's grace to all who will hear it. God is
an absolute sovereign God over all things, creation, providence,
and salvation. We make no apology. Those who believe on Him shall
not be ashamed. Now, turn back over there to
1 Peter 2. It says here in 1 Peter 2, Let's read beginning at verse
3, 1 Peter 2, 3. If so be you tasted, the Lord
is gracious to whom coming as into a living stone, disallowed
indeed of men, but chosen of God and precious. You see, he's
the elect. He's chosen of God and precious.
You also as living stones are built up a spiritual house, a
holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices Acceptable to God
only by Jesus Christ. Wherefore, also it's contained
in the scripture, behold, I lay in Zion a cheap cornerstone elect
precious. He that believes on him shall
not be confounded, shall never be forced out, shall never be
ashamed, will never be confounded. God's people aren't confused.
They know. who saved them. Now, do you have
a refuge? I trust Christ alone is your
refuge. Christ alone we have a good hope
through grace. Grace, grace, grace alone. You see, there's just one foundation. There's just one God and Savior. There's just one way of salvation,
it's a straight gate. It is a narrow way. And there
is one refuge. Turn to that only psalm. If I
told you to turn to the only psalm, where would you turn?
Psalm 62 is the only psalm. Because this word, only, I'll
call it the only psalm because the word is repeated over and
over. He only is my rock and my salvation. He is my defense. I shall not
be greatly moved. Psalm 62. Did I tell you Psalm
62? Look at verse 5. My soul wait thou
only. upon God, for my expectation
is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation. He is my defense. I shall not
be moved. Well, that sounds pretty certain
sure, doesn't it? In God is my salvation and my
glory. The rock of my strength and my
refuge, oh, there it is, is in God. It's not a refuge of lies,
it's a refuge of truth that God honors. Now, trust in Him at
all times, you people. Pour out your heart before Him.
God is a refuge for us. Is that good news? Now, you just
take that verse with you, verse 8, Psalm 62, and you just I kind of grew up on a dairy
farm out in Idaho. My dad was a dairy farmer, and
my uncle was a dairy farmer. My grandfather was a dairy farmer.
And those old cows, you know, we used to milk Holsteins. And
they'd come in, and we'd feed them while we'd milk. And then
they'd go out in the pasture after a while, and you'd see
them out there laying down. And they're out there. Chewing something. We fed you
an hour ago. What are you chewing on? Chewing
the cud. Where does that cud come from?
What they have eaten, they bring it back up and they chew it all
over again. That's what chewing the cud is
called. You watch them cows. I bet the cows in Virginia do
that too. You reckon? They chew the cud. Well, I want you to chew on this
message. God is a refuge for us. There is but one foundation. Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation
of stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone. He that believeth
on Him, whatever salvation is, is in Him. Christ is all and
in all. In Him dwells all the fullness
of the Godhead bodily and your complete In Him. But of Him are you in Christ.
Who of God has made unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification,
and redemption, that according as it is written, there's that
written again, Jeremiah 9, He that glorieth, let him glory
only in the Lord. That's the bottom line of salvation. Who gets the glory? Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ. Well,
the Lord bless you. Thank the Lord bringing me this
way, and maybe someday you can visit with us down there in Pike
County, Kentucky. Say, where is Pike County, Kentucky? It's the center of the universe. Everything in my life revolves
around that ministry there in Zebulon. I'll give you a little
bit of history. Y'all heard of Pike's Peak, right?
Colorado, Pike's Peak. You know who surveyed all those
places out west, all those mountain ranges? A man by the name of
Zebulon Pike. The ministry where I'm at now
is a little community called Zebulon. Where did that come
from? Zebulon Pike. There's a statue
of that man in our courthouse. Zebulon Pike. You look up his
history sometime and read it, and he had a tragic end of his
life. But he was a soldier in the army, a surveyor, like John
C. Fremont and those other early pioneers that went west. Okay, Lord bless you. Bless his
work.
