How do we know if Christ is in us?

Answered in 6 sources

We know Christ is in us if we genuinely believe in Him and acknowledge His presence in our lives (Romans 8:9).

The assurance of Christ's indwelling presence in a believer is fundamentally tied to their faith. Romans 8:9 clearly states that one who does not have the Spirit of Christ is not His. This indwelling is not simply a theological concept but a lived reality where believers experience Christ's transformative power. Additionally, we can examine whether we exhibit the characteristics of Christ's presence through the fruit of the Spirit in our lives, indicating His active work within us. When we can see the evidence of Christ's character being formed in us—such as love, joy, peace, and mercy—it serves as a testimony of His presence, affirming that we are indeed His and that He is in us.
