How do we know if we are called by God?

Answered in 12 sources

Evidence of God's call can be seen in our recognition of Christ as the power and wisdom of God, our calling upon Him, and our reception of His grace.

To discern if one has been called by God, we must look for certain evidences in our lives. Firstly, as noted in 1 Corinthians 1:23-24, a true believer sees Christ as the power and wisdom of God. This recognition leads to a humble dependence on Christ for salvation. Secondly, the act of calling upon the Lord for mercy is critical; if we genuinely seek Him, it affirms our calling (Romans 10:13). Lastly, there is a tangible receiving of God's grace and gifts, such as faith, repentance, and righteousness—these are not merited but given by grace through faith. The presence of these evidences can reassure believers of their calling as outlined in Hebrews 9:15, where those called receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
