How do we know if we are in Christ?

Answered in 2 sources

Believers can know they are in Christ by their faith in Him as revealed in Scripture (Romans 8:9).

According to Romans 8:9, those who are in Christ are characterized by the indwelling of the Spirit of God. The assurance of being in Christ comes from one’s faith in the true Jesus of the Scriptures, who is both God and man. It's not about a subjective feeling but rather a faith grounded in the revelation of Christ's person and work. Additionally, true faith is evidenced by a life that 'walks not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.' This denotes a transformative relationship that results in new affections and desires towards God and His Word. Thus, the identification of being in Christ is marked by both belief and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit in the believer's life.
