How do we know Jesus fulfilled the law?

Answered in 16 sources

Jesus said He came to fulfill the law, as recorded in Matthew 5:17, confirming that He completed all that was necessary for our salvation.

Jesus clearly states His purpose in Matthew 5:17 when He says, 'Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.' This fulfillment is significant because it demonstrates that Jesus is the culmination of God's redemptive plan. All Old Testament prophecies and laws pointed to Him, and He successfully met every requirement through His perfect life and sacrificial death. Furthermore, as the Apostle Paul writes in Romans 10, Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes, establishing Him as the only means through which we can be made right with God (Romans 10:4). This certainty gives believers hope and the assurance of their salvation.
