How do we know our inheritance in Christ is secure?

Answered in 3 sources

Our inheritance in Christ is secure because it is grounded in God's eternal covenant, confirmed by the blood of Christ and sealed by the Holy Spirit.

The security of our inheritance in Christ comes from the unchanging nature of God's promises. In Ephesians 1:13-14, Paul explains that upon believing the gospel, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession. This sealing by the Holy Spirit serves as a guarantee of our future inheritance, assuring us that what God has promised will surely come to pass.

Furthermore, the covenant that God made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob extends to us today, as seen in Psalm 105:9-11. This covenant is characterized by God's faithfulness and is described as being ordered in all things and sure. When we understand that our place in God's family and our eternal inheritance spring from His sovereign choosing and grace, we realize that our inheritance is beyond the fluctuation of human circumstances—it's rooted in God’s immutable will and purpose. Thus, believers can rest confidently in the assurance that their inheritance in Christ is both secure and eternal.
