How do we know our prayers should influence our actions?

Answered in 1 source

Our prayers are meant to guide our actions, reflecting the desires we express to God.

Prayer should not merely consist of words but must influence and transform our actions. James emphasizes this in James 1:22, where he warns against merely listening to the word and not acting on it. If we sincerely pray for virtues such as humility and self-denial, these requests should manifest in our daily behaviors. Therefore, a true prayer life is one where our petitions to God cultivate a framework for our actions, helping us to live in accordance with what we profess.
