How do we know our sins are forgiven?

Answered in 14 sources

We know our sins are forgiven through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, as He died for our sins and provides justification.

The assurance of forgiveness is rooted in the gospel message that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3). The visible wounds of Christ, as mentioned in Luke 24, symbolize the price paid for our redemption. When He showed His hands and feet to the disciples, He confirmed that the blood He shed effectively removed the guilt of our sin. Our confidence in forgiveness does not arise from our feelings but from the historical truth of Christ's sacrifice and the promises of Scripture, which declare that through faith in Him, we are justified and cleansed from all unrighteousness.
