How do we know that Christ is our Good Shepherd?

Answered in 2 sources

Christ is known as our Good Shepherd because He laid down His life for His sheep, demonstrating His love and care for us.

Our assurance of Christ as the Good Shepherd comes from His own declaration in John 10:11, where He states, 'I am the Good Shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.' This self-sacrificial love is the hallmark of His shepherding role. The Good Shepherd knows His sheep and leads them gently, ensuring their safety and spiritual growth. He provides for their needs and protects them from harm. Through His atoning work on the cross, He has redeemed us, which affirms His commitment to us as our Shepherd. His intimate knowledge of us and our willingness to follow Him further attests to His role as our Good Shepherd.
