How do we know that church leaders can make mistakes?

Answered in 1 source

Church leaders, like Peter, can make mistakes as they are fallible humans, yet they remain called to serve faithfully.

The case of Peter in Acts 1:12-26 exemplifies the fallibility of church leaders. Despite his genuine efforts to serve God, Peter chose Matthias without direct revelation from the Lord. This incident highlights that even devoted leaders may err due to human limitations and judgment. However, such mistakes do not negate their calling or the importance of their ministry. Instead, these occurrences remind us to pray for our leaders and encourage them, acknowledging that they too rely on God's grace and wisdom. Their fallibility does not undermine the authority or necessity of God’s ordained leadership within the church.
