How do we know that faith in Christ leads to greater works?

In John 14:12, Jesus assures His followers, 'He who believes in me will do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.' This passage indicates that the greater works refer not necessarily to miraculous signs, but importantly to the works of proclaiming the Gospel, resulting in spiritual life. The early church saw thousands come to faith through the preaching of the apostles, which indicates that sharing the message of Christ's salvation is at the core of these greater works. Moreover, it emphasizes the believer's role in continuing Christ's mission on earth, as they are empowered by the Holy Spirit to spread the good news and bring others to life in Christ.
