How do we know that God is eternal?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible asserts God's eternal nature, as expressed in Genesis 1:1, which states, 'In the beginning, God.'

God's eternal nature is foundational to understanding His existence. Genesis 1:1 begins with 'In the beginning, God,' indicating that before creation, only God existed. This establishes that time began with Him, and He transcends time itself. From everlasting to everlasting, God has existed alone in His glory, demonstrating that He is the uncaused cause of all that exists. Since He created time, He is not subject to it; hence, He is eternal, highlighting His sovereignty and greatness which should inspire both reverence and awe in our approach to Him.
