How do we know that God loves us as His children?

The apostle John emphasizes that we should behold the manner of love God has shown us in making us His children. This love is not just an abstract concept but is manifest in our identity as sons and daughters of God, which is a position and privilege granted freely to us. The truth that we are not yet what we ultimately will be—that when He appears, we shall see Him as He is (1 John 3:2)—further solidifies the assurance of His love.
