How do we know that God's promises to Jacob apply to us?

Answered in 1 source

God's promises to Jacob reflect His unchanging nature and are applicable to all believers as His chosen ones.

In Genesis 28, God makes profound promises to Jacob during a moment of fear and flight. He assures Jacob of His presence and protection, saying, 'I am with you and will keep you wherever you go' (Genesis 28:15). These promises extend beyond Jacob to all of God's elect, demonstrating His unwavering faithfulness to His covenant community. The reality is that through Christ, as the ultimate fulfillment of the covenant, believers today stand as recipients of these promises, reinforcing that God's assurances are as valid now as they were for Jacob. As stated in Romans 8:31-32, if God is for us, who can be against us?
