How do we know that our names are written in heaven?

Answered in 4 sources

The assurance of our names being written in heaven comes through the work of Christ and the witness of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

In Luke 10:20, Jesus instructs His disciples to rejoice not in their authority over evil spirits but that their names are written in heaven. This assurance is intimately tied to a relationship with Christ, based on faith in His atoning work. It is the Holy Spirit who testifies to our hearts, confirming our identity as children of God and the security of our salvation, as also noted in Romans 8:16, where the Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.
