How do we know that salvation is determined by God?

Answered in 1 source

Salvation is ultimately determined by God's sovereign will, as He alone chooses those who will be saved.

The sovereignty of God in salvation is underscored in various biblical texts, including Ephesians 1:4-5, which states that God 'chose us in Him before the foundation of the world.' This emphasizes that God's plan for salvation is not based on human actions or decisions but solely on His divine will. He not only determines who will be saved but also the means through which salvation is realized, namely through faith and repentance. As a result, it is vital for believers to understand that while God’s choosing is sovereign, our continued faith and perseverance are evidence of His saving work within us. Those who do not continue in faith reveal that they were never truly chosen for salvation (Matthew 24:13).
