How do we know that we love Christ?

Answered in 1 source

We know we love Christ by keeping His commandments, as He himself states in the Scriptures.

The test of our love for Christ is our willingness to keep His commandments. In John 14:15, Jesus clearly states that loving Him is demonstrated through obedience. This is echoed in John 14:21, where He conveys that the one who keeps His commandments loves Him. This mutual relationship of love and obedience illustrates the genuine transformative work of salvation in a believer's life.

Additionally, the love we have for Christ cannot merely be an intellectual acknowledgment but must express itself through action. True love for Christ manifests in a desire to adhere to His teachings and to live by His will. While we may fail in our obedience at times, the overarching disposition of our hearts will reflect a sincere longing to please Him, proving our love through consistent effort to align our lives with His commandments. The Holy Spirit works within us, affirming this love and empowering us to live a life that honors Him.
