If You Love Christ, Keep His Commandments

John 14:15
Paul Mahan September, 24 2017 Audio

The Lord very plainly says: 'If ye love me, keep my commandments.' That is a commandment in itself. Those who love Christ are obedient to His commandments, for His commandments are not grievous.
A clear refutation of the charge against those who preach the Truth; that we preach a message against the commandments, against living a godly life.

Thank you, John. Jeanette, thank you. Go back
now with me to John 14. John 14. The title and the subject
text is found in verse 15, John 14, 15, our Lord said, if ye
love me, keep my commandment. And then verse 21, he says, he that hath my commandments
and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me. If ye love me, keep
my commandments, and he that keepeth them, he it is That loveth
me." Those are plain words, aren't they? Now, this, I know what
you're thinking. I know what everyone is thinking.
When you hear that, you think, oh my, I've broken this commandment.
There's not one I haven't broken. Aren't you? But stay with me,
okay? We're not going to explain this
away. Why would we? We're not going
to make him say what he's not saying. He said, if you love
me, this is a command, keep my commandment, do what I say. This
is what he's saying. And he says, if you do, you love
me. All right. Now, this is a message
to Christ's true disciples in the upper room. This was in the
upper room. He's speaking to his true disciples.
He told Judas to leave. And he did. And Judas left because
he wanted to. But now these men are still here.
They're all still in that room. And he's speaking to them, the
11 other disciples. Who are these men? They're chosen. All right, all of them are chosen.
Ask them, why are you here? Did you come here because you
decided to? Oh, no. To a man, they'll all
tell you, we're here because the Lord chose us, because the
Lord called us. Now, whoever he chose, whoever
he called, they come. And whoever comes, he'll know
why he's cast out. And whoever comes, He must have
loved them if He chose them. For whom He did for not love,
He did predestinate, called, justified. These are men whom
the Lord chose, whom the Lord loved, and they love Him. They all love Him. Ask them. They'll tell you. They love Him
because He first loved them. But they do love Him. That's
why they're here. What about you? Why are you here
in this upper room? Duty won't keep you. Law won't
keep you. Love will. Law won't keep you. I've got some notes written down,
scribbled down. I throw away more notes. I do
a message and I do keep them. Three times more notes, 15, 20
pages. Just jotted this down this morning on the way here.
Love won't keep us. I mean, law won't keep us, but
love will. The law won't keep us married.
A husband and wife won't keep you married. The law won't keep
you married, but love will. The law won't keep a man at home
with his wife, but love will. Right? The law won't keep us
coming to worship, but love will. These men were here because the
Lord chose them, the Lord called them, the Lord sovereignly, mercifully,
graciously brought them, drew them. He must have loved them. Yes, He did. It said that in
chapter 13, that having loved His own which were in the world,
He loved them to the end. And He brought them, and they're
here because they love Him. They dropped everything and everyone.
to be with Him. They love Him. Why? Because He
first loved them. Whoever the Lord loves, they
love Him. They love Him. Whoever the Lord
keeps, they lay hold of Him and don't let go. Now our text says, if you love
me. Now this is, I want you to look how serious this is. Corinthians
16, go over there, 1 Corinthians 16. Love is the heart of the
matter of salvation. Salvation is a heart work. Salvation
is a heart work. With the heart man believeth
unto salvation. Out of the heart are the issues
of life, right? When the Lord saves someone,
the first thing He does is give them a new heart. To love Him
whom they once hated. To love things they once hated
and hate things they once loved. Just a fact. It's no mere head
work. You can have a head work and not have a heart work. You
can't not have a heart work and not have a head work. You understand? You can have doctrine without
love for Christ. You can't have a love for Christ
and not love His doctrine and not love His truth. But look
at this. This is how Paul concluded his
letter to the Corinthians. 1 Corinthians 16, verse 22. I say in this, if any man love
not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be anathema, maranatha. Let him go to hell. Let him be
cursed. When the Lord come, let him be
sent to hell. And that's what the Lord is going
to do. That's serious. If any man love not, our Lord
said, if you love me, keep my commandments. And he that does
keepeth my commandment, he it is that loveth me. Do you want
to know what he's saying? Boy, I do. No true disciple talks much about
their love for the Lord. False disciples do that all the
time. Pharisees like to talk about
how much they love the Lord. They like to brag about it. God's true people don't do that.
They don't do that. They don't talk about it. They're
so ashamed of their love. But I'll tell you this, they
show it. That's like true love between
two people, a husband and wife. You don't have to keep telling
each other all the time, although we need to hear it. And we enjoy
saying it. We want that person to know,
we express our love. But that's not how it's really
known, is it? My father's generation didn't say that much. But we
knew it. My dad didn't say that to me
very much, but I knew he did. He proved it. He showed it. We're told to examine ourselves
whether we'll be of the faith, but you know, faith without works
is dead. Faith which worketh by what?
Love. Love. Our Lord said, examine yourself.
He said, know ye not your own selves, how that Christ is in
you, unless you be a reprobate? Know ye not, do you not know
if you love the Lord or not? Do you not know if you love His
truth or not? How can you not know that? If the Lord asked you like He
did Simon Peter, right after Simon Peter's worst, his terrible
denial, The worst time of his life, the worst sin up to that
point. He was still a sinner up to that. He failed. Right after he did
the most unthinkable, the Lord asked him not once, not twice,
but three times, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? What did Simon say? him all around? Did he have to
stop and think about it? What if somebody you supposedly
love asked you, do you love me? And you say, well, I think I do. Simon said, Lord, thou knowest
I love you. Three times. The third time he
was grieved. That's a heart-searching question. And the Lord asked
him, what? He asked him twice. And the third time, Simon Peter,
he's really examining himself. He said, Lord, you know all things. You know I love you. I know it
doesn't look like it all the time. I know I don't act like
it all the time. But you know I love you. By the grace of God, I can say
that in the face of my worst sins, John. Salvation is the Lord God creating
a new creature, a new man, a new heart. Romans 5 verse 5 says,
the love of God is shed abroad in the heart by the Spirit of
God. A man, a woman, a young person who once hated God. They
don't like to hear that, but that's what the scripture says.
That's what the scripture says. That's what God says about every
unregenerate, unbelieving human being. They hate God. Romans
3 says that. Don't hate their conception of
God, their false notion of God, a God they made up, a God they
let be God, a baby in the arms, but now the God who is God. They once hated that God, now
they love Him as God. They're once a rebel, once a
child of wrath, once Paul said in Ephesians 2, children of disobedience,
even as others. But God breaks down that enmity,
breaks down that rebellion and makes them obedient. That person
now loves God as God, Sovereign, Creator, Lord, reigning and ruling. I don't mean you just know that
and believe it in your head. You love it. What makes the world positively
angry and mad that God reigns? We tell people God reigns. Well,
He does. He reigns. He rules. He does all things
after the counsel of His own will. Nobody lets God do anything.
God does all things, everything. I, the Lord, do all these things,
reigns and rules among the armies of heaven and the inhabitants
of the earth, and none can stay His hand." Do you like that?
Do you love that? That's to love God as God. You
have to acknowledge it. It's in the Scripture. But do
you love the truth of that? Do you love God as God? Do you
love His Word? Do you love, thus saith the Lord?
Would you take anything out of this Bible Would you take one
word out of this Bible? Is there any word in God's Word
that you say, I don't much like that, I'd like to do away with
that? People do it all the time. That's why they have so many
perversions of Scripture. That's why there's so many different
perversions or translations, so-called, of the Scripture.
They don't like that. They don't like that. And like
a penknife, like Jehoiakim the king, with the word of Jeremiah,
he took a penknife and cut it out. I don't like that. Would
you do that? One word. Would you throw out
John 3.16? No! God forbid. Why? I love it. I love it. It's His Word. Word of God's pure, perfect,
holy, just commandment. Paul said the commandment is
holy, just, and true. David said, oh, how I love thy
law. Would you take out the tenth
commandment? Would you take out the Levitical law? Would you
take out the law of God? Because we can't keep it, because
it's a curse. Would you take it out? No. I
love it. I want to keep it. It's God's Word. You love His person. That's why
we come. That's why God's people come.
That's why the disciples were there this day. They were there
because they loved Jesus Christ. They were there because He first
loved them, and now they're there because they love Him. If they
didn't, they wouldn't stay. Judas didn't stay. What did he
love? Money. He loved his salvation. Let such
as love thy salvation say, the Lord be magnified. Why do we
always preach sovereign grace, sovereign mercy, sovereign love?
Because it is. Why do we always preach salvation,
my grace, not of works? Why do we always dismiss all
of man's works and salvation? Because it has no part in it.
Because salvation is of the Lord. Let such as love thy salvation
say, Salvation that's of the Lord from start to finish. Let
them say, the Lord be magnified. Do you love to hear this? Most
people don't. Most people hate this gospel.
They hate the truth. It's an offense to them. Is it
an offense to you? The only thing that's an offense
to God's people is themselves. Not the Word of God. It's good
for me. that He convicts me, convinces
me of sin, because then He pours in the bottle of Gilead, the
oil and wine. Oh, I love this God. Don't you
love His salvation? Don't you love the salvations
of the Lord from start to finish? Self-righteous Pharisees don't
love that. Poor and needy sinners do. They
love His people. It's love. Love, love, love. You know, there
are nine fruits of the Spirit, aren't there? Can you name them?
They're fruits, but they're all like a fruit. You can't have
one without the other. It's all fruit, meaning the Spirit
of God produces it. You can't produce it. You can
grunt and groan, but you can't make it happen. What the Spirit
of God does in all of God's people, what's the first? What's the
first fruit of the Spirit? Love. Love. Paul said, now abideth faith,
hope, and love. What's the greatest? Love. Why is that? We're not pitting
one against the other. We're not saying you can love
without faith. That's what the Arminians say. That's what the
false gospel says. Oh, just love. Just love. You
don't have to believe the truth. You don't have to believe doctrine.
Oh, yes, you do. And you have to love it. You have to know the truth. You're
saved by the truth. You're kept by the truth. And
you love the truth. Now, wouldn't you want to hear
it? You love it. But what he's saying, now that
is faith, hope, and love. The greatest of these is love
because everybody can say they believe. Everybody can say they
believe. That's what Pharisees do. They
say, but they don't do it. Love, now, proves faith. James was standing, sitting there
in this upper room. James, the apostle, was sitting
in this upper room. He was listening to the Lord,
wasn't he? And the Lord had him write a whole letter, a whole
book, later on. And the whole theme of that book
is faith without works is dead. He said, you say you believe,
show me. Isn't it? He's not bragging,
he's just saying that's what the Lord said. Didn't he? John
did it. Many men say he loved the Lord
and loved not his brother. He says he's a liar. Didn't he? John wrote a whole book about
love. And he said, I don't know how many times John said in his
epistle, the Lord said this, if you love me, keep my commandment.
But his commandments aren't grievous. God's people love him. And by
the way, before I get any further, he's not telling us to walk up
Mount Sinai. But God's people love his people. They love his salvation. They
love his people. Anybody that doesn't love his
brother, he doesn't know God. They love his worship. Very clearly,
very plainly, let me say this. Love, like faith. is the result of salvation. It's
not the cause. Do you hear me? Love, like faith,
is not the cause of salvation. It's the result. Everyone whom
the Lord saved, they love, they believe. They trust Christ alone. Love, like faith, is not a condition. If you love, then I'll let you
into heaven. No, sir. It's the effect of salvation. Are you with me? Keeping his
commandments, Christ's commandments, is not the cause of salvation,
it's the result. It's the result. He took a disobedient
child and made him obedient. Stay with me. Now here's what
Spurgeon said about it. Spurgeon said the essence of
obedience is in love. He said, I can conceive of a
man that he might think he keeps the law outwardly, like the rich
young ruler, but he did it out of duty. He did it because it
was a commandment. Not mine. And so it wasn't accepted,
and nothing he did was accepted. This obedience springs from love. Peter wrote, as obedient children.
Not fashioning yourself after the former love. Paul said, as
once children of disobedience, and in chapter 5, then he says,
now you're dear children. Chapter 6, the first thing he
said was, children, obey your parents. How much more should we be bothering? Is this bothering anybody? This
is our Lord's Word. I'm going to tell you in a minute
what the commandments are. Once again, I'm not saying, do this
and God will love you. What I am saying, what the Lord
is saying, do this because He loves you. Do this out of love. He that loveth me keepeth my
commandment. Love proves it. Now, hear this. Listen. Don't look to your love
for assurance that you're saved. Don't look to any obedience for
assurance that you're saved, or you won't have any assurance.
We sing the song all the time, Come Holy Spirit, Heavenly Dove.
It says, Dear Lord, and shall we ever live at this poor dying
rate? Our love so faint, so cold to
Thee, and Thy love to us so great? That's why we sing that all the
time. I choose to sing that a lot, because that's how I feel. Yet
it's there. It must be so. Our Lord said,
if you love me, command, keep my commandment. And this is a
fact. He that keepeth my commandment,
he it is that loveth me. Love which makes us want to do
what the Lord tells us. Love that makes us want to be
like the Lord. Do you? Do you not want to be
conformed to His image? Do you not want to do what He
tells you to do? You mourn, you grieve over your
disobedience, you grieve over your inability, you grieve over
your rebellion, you grieve over your fall. Do you not want to
do what He tells you? Do you not love what He said,
everything, and want to do it? What child would say, I love
my parents but I don't like what they tell me? A man said that to a preacher
brother of mine. He was grieving over it. A member said, just preach Christ
to me, don't tell me what to do. That's a rebel. You cannot preach Christ and
not preach His commandments. You cannot preach Christ and
not preach what He tells us to do. Does He tell us anything
to do? Not to be saved. How many times do I have to say
that? That's the last time I'm going to say it. And somebody
takes this and misconstrues it and misuses it and bears false
witness against me. Have at it, buddy. But our Lord
said this to me. I want to know what He's saying. You mean to tell me somebody
can say, just tell me what Christ did for me, but don't tell me
what Christ tells me to do for him. You can't be his disciples and
not love his commandments. He that hath my commandments
and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me. If any man, our Lord said in
the Sermon on the Mount, teach otherwise, hmm, all right, what
does it mean to keep his commandment? What does it mean? First of all,
it means this. Now, I remember as a young preacher
dealing with this, and because I felt like such an utter failure
at keeping his commandment, because I felt so utterly sinful, I didn't... I dealt with one aspect of it.
To keep His commandments or His Word means to not let them slip. You remember how Hebrews says
that? Let us not let these things slip. His Word, let it run out
as a leaky vessel. But it's to lay hold of His Word
and have it written on your heart and lay hold of it. and not want
to lose it to anything or anyone. That's what keep means. It means
to, you love what he says and you lay hold of it and you wouldn't
give it up. You don't want to give it up
for anybody or anything. Keep. You have anything you keep? Have
anything you've kept? I have a few letters written
to me from my oldest brother who was killed in Vietnam. And I still have them. In fact,
just the other day, I got one out, the last one out, and read
it. I intend to keep it. It's invaluable to me. Why? I love him. It's just a letter. No, it's from my brother. You
must not love him. It must not have been written
to you. You see what I'm saying? This
is God's Word. I don't want to part with it.
This is Christ's gospel. I don't want to part with it.
That's what that means. It also means to do it. It also means to do it. Look
at Matthew 7. Matthew 7. Because this is what
our Lord plainly said. And I don't know, you know, we're
pretty rebellious if we try to make Him say anything else. Matthew 7, verse 24. Look at this. Matthew 7, 24. You have it? Therefore, now he concludes his
whole sermon on the mouth this way. I had an article by Philpot in
our bulletin on these words. It's powerful. Most powerful
I've ever read. Read it again. But our Lord said
in verse 24, Matthew 7, Therefore, whosoever heareth these sayings
of mine, and doeth them, doeth, doeth, doeth, doeth. You know
what do mean? I will liken him unto a wise
man that built his house on the rock. In verse 26, And everyone
that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not. He's going to fall. That's pretty
plain, isn't it? Pretty plain. All right? Now, as I said before, our problem
is my problem. And I'm a man of like passions
as you. I'm a sinner. I'm less than the least of all
the saints. I'm the chief of sinners. I really
do believe that, like Paul. And I find in myself a law warring
in my memory. So that I cannot, it seems that
I cannot do the things that I would. The word would in scriptures
is want. Cannot do the things that I would or want to do, that's
not what I do. And the things that I would not
or don't want to do, that's what I do. Paul said, I find this
law, this principle in me, this old man, this sinner, this old
man in me that's constantly warring in my members. Bring him into
captivity, this law of sin. He said, I love the law of God
after the inward man. There's a new man there. That's
why there's a battle going on. I don't like the statement because
it's not biblical. Trust Christ and live like you
want to. It doesn't say that in the Bible.
This is a better statement. Trust Christ and live like he
tells you to. Cause I don't do what I want
to do, Stephen. The flesh lusts against the spirit
and the spirit against the flesh so that you cannot do the things
that you want to. Trust Christ. You trust Christ,
you'll be with him and going. You have his word on it. And
do what he tells you. Live like he tells you. What's
wrong with that? Anything wrong with that? Did
I say, now, if you do what He says, the Lord will reward you,
and this is merit, and this is reward. Did I say that? No, I
didn't say that. Neither did Christ. And He started
this whole thing to say, believe me, believe me, believe me, believe
me. He said, I go to prepare a place
for you, if I go and prepare it for you. And He didn't say,
now, if, if, if, if, if, if, up until verse 15. He said, I'm going to do this
for you because I love you. Believe me, believe me, believe
me, believe me. Now, if you love me, keep my promise. What are His commandments? Stay
with me. What are His commandments? Number
one, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. I do. Anybody? Anybody? This is salvation. If you're not raising your hand,
you better raise your heart. I believe. I really do, with all my heart,
Jesus Christ is my salvation, 100%. His person, His work, to
you. I believe. Oh Lord, help my unbelief. But I do believe. Why do I believe? There was a time I didn't believe.
There was a time I didn't care. But I believe by the grace of
God. It's a gift of God. It's not
of myself. It's a gift of God. Not of work,
lest any man should boast. They're His workmanship. This
is the power of God, a miracle of God, to make someone believe
the unknown and the unseen. I believe. I do. Nothing and
no one can convince me otherwise. I mean that. Do you mean that? Do you? I believe. That's what
He says, the first commandment. Believe. This is the will of
the Father, that you believe. This is the work of God. It's
the work of God. It's the first commandment. Believe
on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. Brother
John, with the commandment comes the ability. I believe. What's the next thing? Confessment. If you believe, go in all the
world, he said to his disciples, and preach the gospel. He that
believeth and is baptized shall be saved. confess me." He said,
if you don't confess me before men, I won't confess you. Well,
who wouldn't? Why wouldn't you? It's love, isn't it? It's love. That eunuch, you know, Philip
began to preach to him, Christ and him crucified, from Isaiah
53. And the Lord broke his heart
over sin. The Lord gave him a new heart
to love this Christ who came to put away his sin. And they
were riding by and they said, there's water! Look, water! He said, believe and be baptized.
Stop the chariot! Why, Eunice? Because I love what
you just told me. I love who you just preached
to me. Stop. He said, I've got to be baptized.
I've got to do it. I want to do it. He said, confess
me. I've got to. It's like marriage. It's like the marriage ceremony.
Somebody refuses to marry the person they claim to love, they
don't know. Marriage, you're standing before
everybody saying, this is the one I love. And in baptism, that's
what you're doing. He said, I want to die. I am
dead. I'm dead. I'm crucified with
Christ. This old man, I want him put in the grave, but I want
to rise to walk in newness of life with Christ. Christ is my
life now. That's what baptism is. It doesn't
change it. It's just an expression. It's
an answer of a good conscience. It's an outpouring of love. He said, gather. Gather with
my people. Gather together. Why wouldn't
you want to? If you look, all right, if I
had stood up today and said, let's see here, we're going to
devote this day to talking about Elizabeth Torrance. The whole
day is going to be about Elizabeth Torrance. Do you know who would
be here? Well, I guarantee you, I know two people would be here.
Three. Anybody else? It's those that
love Elizabeth. Right? Margaret, you ever get
tired of talking about Elizabeth? Why? You love her. You know who you talk about?
Those you love. You know who you want to be with?
The one you love. It's there or it's not. You can't
make it happen. You can't make your heart love
somebody. But God does, and what He does
is forever. Love never faileth. You fail,
you fall, but that love's there and it'll come back. Like Simon Peter, go out and
weep bitterly. Why? He loved the Lord that He
denied. And he's forever ashamed of what
he did. And by God's grace, he said,
I want to make amends for all the reproach I brought on my
Lord. He said, I want to lay down my life. Love your brethren. Here's a
command. Love your brethren. Not advice. It's a command. It's your parents,
I don't know, I talked to you ladies, but you men that had
brothers. I had two brothers and we were all time fussing.
There you go, Westwood. I know y'all did that. We fussed.
Sometime like cat and dog, didn't we? And my dad would turn around. Oh, and nothing made him madder
than that. And if y'all don't get along, I'm going to whip
all of you. Sometimes he did. I'm not good. I didn't do it. He did it. Yeah.
Will you just light us up? We're all guilty, aren't we?
Our Lord says, love one another. Why? Because I loved you. Surely you can love somebody
just like you. I loved someone ungodly, the
worthless, those that hated me. I loved them. And he said this, if your brother
has something against you, this is a command. Our Lord said,
if your brother has aught against you, if you've offended that
brother, don't come in here and worship. You go to that person
and you ask their forgiveness and you reconcile to your brother
or don't come back. That's what he said. Don't pretend. That's a command. Don't pretend
to worship God because God's not going to hear you. If you
have aught against your brother, When God ought to have everything
against us. He said, you go tell that person
that you're sorry. Right or wrong. Paul said, suffer
yourself to be defrauded. Paul did all the time. Love your
enemies even. That's a command, isn't it? That's
a command. Pharisees do this. Pharisees
say, who is my neighbor? The Lord said, love your neighbor.
So they say, who do I have to love? Surely I don't have to love those
Gentile dogs. Who is my neighbor? That's what
Pharisees say. Who must I love? Love says, I want to love. I want to love my neighbor. I
want to love my enemy. I want to love as my Lord loves. Lord, forgive me. Forgive me. It's His command. I was going
to have you go all the way through 1 John. All the commands. What are His commandments? Why,
the Lord commands everything. The Lord teaches us and instructs
us in all things. And what He didn't say, the apostles
continued it in the epistles, didn't they? He speaks how to
walk, how to talk, our speech, how to dress, our attitude, our
actions, everything about us. What heavenly father, I mean,
what father does not instruct their children in everything? Huh? What parent would say, oh,
I love you, just go on, it doesn't matter what you do, you'll be
all right. Huh? Why is he chasing? Why does He chasten? What is
chastening all about? You're doing wrong. Huh? Whom the Father loves, He
chastens. What's wrong with anything I'm
saying right now? Nothing. It's all right. It's all good.
Whom the Father loves, He chastens. That means instruct. That means
make and conform you to the Lord Jesus Christ. And He's our example
and He's our pattern. Not only is He the our salvation
that we look to, but He's our example we look at. And looking
at Him, and this is the only way this love grows, this is
the only way we grow in grace is by looking at Him, looking
to Him. Looking to Him, asking Him for
grace, asking Him for ability, asking Him for His Spirit, and
looking at Him, because the more you look at Him, the more you
admire Him, the more you want to be loved. Right? And He commands. What of all
His commandments? There's not enough time. The husbands? There's commandments to husbands.
There's commandments to wives. There's commandments to children.
There's commandments to parents. There's commandments to servants.
There's commandments to masters. There's commandments to citizens.
There's commandments to church members. There's commandments
to church leaders. There's commandments, commandments, commandments. And
I love them all. And I want to keep them all.
Do you? Do you? But preacher, I break them. So
do I. So does everyone. Let me ask
you this. Your children whom you love,
are they your children because they're obedient to you? Are they your children because
they love you? No, they're your children because you gave birth
to them. And that's how we started this
thing. Their love and their obedience
doesn't mean that's not the condition of them being your children.
But tell me this, an obedient child, is it not proof that a child
really loves its parent? Is it not proof that a child
really loves its parent if they want to do, want to do, if they
want to do and strive to do and try to do what they tell them?
Is it? Sure it is. She said the thing that restrained
her the most when she was a young girl and even a teenager, the
thing that restrained her the most, Catherine, was her father's
love for her. She knew her dad loved her and
her mother, and she didn't want to do anything to bring reproach
on them. Is that you? Oh, brethren, behold what manner
of love the Father hath bestowed upon her. Greater loveth no man that liveth
than our Lord for His people. And if your child messes up,
if your child fails, if your child falls, if your child does
something rebellious, will you kick them out? Will you kick them out? No. If they come back and say,
I'm sorry. Will you comfort them? What does our Lord say to his
disciples, his children, when they get the glory? You know
what he says to them? This is amazing. Amazing. He
says, well done, thou good and faithful servant. Well done, thou good and faithful
servant. And every one of them says, good. Faithful? Me? Not unto us, not unto us, but
unto you be the glory. You're the faithful one, you're
the good one, but as a loving parent." He said, no, you did
what you could. Brother Mike Walker preached
on that. That woman with the alabaster
box said she did what she could. And the Lord said, this is going
to be remembered of her forever. And you tell your children, don't
you, no matter if they mess up, plumb up, ruin what they did,
you tell them, good job, honey. Don't you? Good job. Wow. They did it in love together. They really did want to do something
for you. Bring you a little flower. Bring
you a little flower, a little daisy. They plucked out there. What's that? It's a show of love. And the Father says, why thank
you. The Lord is not unrighteous to
forget your labor of love, He said, that you do in His name,
amen. He's so good, isn't He? Who wouldn't
want to do what He said? Alright, let's sing in closing
number what? 314. 314. 314. That's all stamps.
