What does the Bible say about keeping His commandments?

In John 14:15, Jesus explicitly says, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." This connection between love and obedience is crucial; loving Christ naturally leads to a desire to follow His commandments. The essence of this command is not based on legalism or obligation but rather on the heartfelt relationship believers have with Jesus.

In verse 21 of the same chapter, Jesus reiterates that those who have His commandments and keep them are the ones who truly love Him. This means that a genuine relationship with Christ, defined by love, results in a commitment to live in accordance with His teachings. Our obedience becomes a reflection of our love and gratitude for the grace we have received, rooted in the truth that He first loved us (1 John 4:19).
