How do we know the doctrine of Providence is true?

Answered in 3 sources

We know the doctrine of Providence is true through the authority of Scripture, which affirms God's sovereignty and involvement in creation.

The assurance of the truth of the doctrine of Providence comes primarily from the authority of Scripture. The Bible, being the revealed Word of God, must be regarded as the paramount authority on such matters. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, it is affirmed that all Scripture is God-breathed, equipping believers for every good work. This revelation allows us to gain insights into God's nature as sovereign and His workings within Providence.

Furthermore, historical and experiential testimonies from believers throughout the ages bolster this doctrine. Many narratives within Scripture outline God’s providential hand at work — from Joseph’s experiences in Egypt (Genesis 50:20) to the broader narrative of redemption culminating in Christ’s atonement. These accounts showcase a consistent theme of divine involvement in human affairs. Thus, by faith in the authority of God's Word, we accept the truth of Providence as a foundational aspect of our theological understanding.
