How do we know the Holy Spirit is present in our lives?

Answered in 6 sources

The presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives is known through our confession of Christ and the transformative evidence of His work in us.

The assurance of the Holy Spirit's presence is rooted in our confession that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, as stated in 1 John 4:2. This confession is more than just verbal acknowledgment; it reflects a transformative relationship with God that is made possible through the Holy Spirit. The indwelling Spirit gives us the ability to recognize truth from error, to understand our identity as children of God, and to live in a way that reflects Christ's love and righteousness.

In addition, the Spirit leads us into a communal life characterized by love and service to one another, which is another sign of His active presence. According to Romans 8:16, the Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, providing us with assurance and confidence in our identity and our salvation. This theme of the Spirit's guidance emphasizes not only personal assurance but also communal love and fellowship among believers.
