How do we know the soul does not sleep at death?

Answered in 1 source

The soul remains active after death and does not enter a state of sleep, as seen in scriptural references to consciousness post-mortem.

Many believe that the soul sleeps with the body after death; however, this is contrary to biblical teaching. The Scriptures indicate that souls remain conscious and active. For instance, Paul’s experience in 2 Corinthians 12:2-3 reveals that his soul was taken up to receive divine revelations, which would not be possible if it were in a state of sleep. Moreover, in Luke 16:22-23, the rich man in hell experiences torment after death, indicating ongoing awareness rather than a state of dormancy.
