How do we know we need a mediator?

Answered in 1 source

We need a mediator to intercede between us and God due to our sinful nature.

The necessity of a mediator is fundamentally rooted in our sinful condition and God's holiness. In the sermon, it is emphasized that just as Uzziah attempted to act as his own mediator by usurping the priest's role, he demonstrated the misguided belief that he could approach God without a mediator. However, Scripture reveals that we are unable to approach God on our own because of our sinfulness. Hebrews 9:15 tells us that Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, enabling us to receive the promised eternal inheritance. Only through Jesus Christ can our iniquities be dealt with, and our relationship with God restored. Recognizing our need for a mediator highlights our dependence on Christ and underscores His vital role in salvation.
