How do we understand the relationship between believers and the law?

Answered in 1 source

Believers understand the law as spiritual, recognizing Christ fulfilled its requirements on their behalf.

The relationship between believers and the law is complex, as believers recognize the law's spiritual nature. In Romans 7:14, Paul states, 'We know that the law is spiritual; but I am carnal, sold under sin.' This acknowledgment indicates that while the law reveals God's holiness, it also highlights believers' inability to fulfill it by their own strength. However, through union with Christ, believers see that He has fulfilled the law perfectly on their behalf, thus freeing them from its condemnation and enabling them to live according to the Spirit (Romans 8:1-4).
