How does God's will relate to human free will?

Answered in 1 source

According to the sovereign grace perspective, human will is part of God's overarching will; our choices do not negate His sovereignty.

The relationship between God's will and human free will is often misunderstood. In the sovereign grace perspective, there is no true concept of free will as it is commonly taught. God's sovereignty encompasses all actions, including human decisions. As stated in Romans 9:16, it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy. Our wills are influenced by our sinful nature, which affects how we make choices. Ultimately, while humans make real decisions, God's sovereign will orchestrates all events, ensuring His purposes are accomplished without contradiction.
