What does it mean that God delights in His Son?

Answered in 1 source

God’s delight in His Son indicates that Jesus fulfills all righteousness and God’s redemptive purposes.

God's delight in His Son is vividly expressed during the baptism of Jesus and at the Transfiguration, where He declares, 'This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased' (Matthew 3:17, Matthew 17:5). This statement reveals the Father's approval of Christ's life, sacrifice, and His perfect fulfillment of the law. Jesus is seen as the embodiment of God's purpose for redemption, where through His obedience and sacrificial death, He satisfies divine justice. For Christians, this means that all that God requires for salvation is found in Jesus, allowing believers to stand righteous before God because of Him.
