What does the Bible say about afflictions?

Answered in 18 sources

The Bible describes afflictions as light and momentary compared to the eternal glory that awaits believers (2 Corinthians 4:17).

In 2 Corinthians 4:16-17, the Apostle Paul explains that our afflictions are light and momentary, especially when compared to the eternal glory that God has prepared for us. Afflictions are a part of the fallen human experience, yet they are also seen as opportunities for God’s glory to be revealed. While the trials we face may seem overwhelming and heavy, Paul encourages believers to view them through the lens of eternity, where the sufferings of this present time cannot be compared with the glory that will be revealed in us. This perspective helps us endure and find strength amid our trials.
