What does the Bible say about being holy?

Answered in 9 sources

The Bible teaches that holiness is a divine miracle of grace, achieved through God's mercy in Christ, not through human effort.

In Isaiah 4:3, those who remain in Zion are described as being called 'holy.' This is a significant declaration as it illustrates that true holiness comes not from our actions but from God's transformative work in us. The ultimate standard of holiness is God's own character, and in Ephesians 1:4, we see that believers are chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before Him. Therefore, understanding holiness is vital as it reminds us that we can only attain it through divine grace, which calls us to fall at the feet of Christ in humility and repentance.
