What does the Bible say about entering heaven?

Answered in 3 sources

The Bible teaches that to enter heaven, we must have both a title and fitness, provided solely through Jesus' blood and righteousness.

The Scriptures emphasize two critical elements for entering heaven: a title and a fitness. Our title comes from the blood and righteousness of Jesus Christ, which cleanses us from all sin and justifies us in the sight of God (Romans 5:1). As Revelation 21:27 states, nothing impure can enter heaven, underscoring that our access is solely through Christ's sacrificial act of grace.

However, having a title is not enough; we also need a fitness for heaven as indicated in Colossians 1:12. This fitness entails being transformed and having a heart aligned with God's righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). While we live on earth, we are called to cultivate and express these qualities, anticipating the joyous anthem of the redeemed in heaven. Thus, we prepare for the marriage supper of the Lamb by being clothed in the righteousness of saints and living out the kingdom of God within our hearts.
